    Remember that the 450ps are Porsche horses, rated at the most extremes of elevation & hot environments it will be still produce 450ps. Unlike other manufacturers who um shall we say aren't as generous haha!

    After thinking about this car fro some days and as much as I just loved this 911, even with that massive price tag I realise that for my first sports car I want something more hardcore which I think makes an older GT3 in need of a test drive next!

      Makes total sense Luke. Take your time, there is no rush... I was thinking of the 911.1 GTS, also slightly over my budget. I bought the GT4.... I spent 6 months looking, researching, and finding the right car with the right spec. My advice is to avoid over extending yourself in terms of budget.... Also, make sure you enjoy the whole process of looking, testing and eventually buying.... 😀😀😀

    First off, love your videos. The cinematic quality is so refreshing (framing, transitions, color grading, etc.). Second, I would get the model you like most, even if it means going a year or two used. I've had brand new cars and some of my favorites were very used models. But then again, it's not a permanent decision. Have fun with it! Cheers, man.

      The GT4 is great, but looking at the Swiss Porsche page, the 718 GTS is already at 100.000 CHF - without any options. I don't see how he'd be able to afford a 718 GT4 given his budget. Plus, availability will probably lead to markups.
      I think a 981 Cayman GTS or a 991.1 Carrera S / GTS depending on what he can find would be a great choice.

    First of all, great videos Luke. I understand your passion for the Porsche brand. I am in my 50's and have loved Porsches, since I was 8. We lived near a dealership, when I was a kid. I haven't been able to get one yet, but I can see it happening within 5 years. I love to see and hear your feedback on your test drives. I can picture myself doing that soon. What worries me, is how to spec the 911 or Cayman, so many choices....lol Best of Luck !! I think the GTS might be a better daily driver, if you can pull it off.

    Look at a 991.1 GTS, they are normally aspirated, very fast and sound glorious. Also they are less expensive than a practically new car. Also look at a new 991.2 Carrera T, 140k CHF, manual gearbox and you can fit carbon bucket seats and Porsche offer great finance.

    The GTS gives me the same emotion as a G30 540i M sport. Certainly an enjoyable car that I would be HAPPY to drive...But when you see that price tag it sucks the life out of it. It's too short of a leap (financially) from its superior bigger brother

    • @carswithluke

    It really depends on what you wanna do. If you are looking for a pure daily driver, most probably GTS might be better. It is more comfy and has 2 more jump seats compared to GT4. But if you are looking for some track days and fine with harness, check the market. There are a lot of GT4s with good prices.

    Try a Cayman GTS, it is almost 350hp, but feels faster, it’s light weight, rare only about 1000 built or less, less than 400 in America, but not as costly as a GT4, and they are more attractive than regular model caymans in my opinion and have kept strong resale value. Plus the motor sounds awesome with pops and bangs, and last but not least it’s naturally aspirated.

    Porsche. I love them and have had 7 911’s so far... There is something about the 911 that is very special. I had 991.1 GTS before I left the UK. At this point, just to avoid the GT4 choice to be too obvious, you should try the "base" 911 (maybe manual).

    Love the channel. I would suggest you only drive cars that are within your budget. I enjoy watching the different cars, but you may run into the issue of the car you can afford not being as good. Ignorance is bliss! I would look at the 997 GTS (perfect daily), 991 Carrera or S, 997 GT3 (not a good daily), and the 997 turbo (great daily - beast but not track focused). The GT4 is obviously an amazing car as you know so that is definitely in the top list. I would personally find a non turbo car because over time they will be more rare and you may even make a couple bucks. By the way - check out an air cooled car. They aren't anywhere as fast, but a vintage 911 is a treat to drive and experience. Happy searching and take your time!! Get the car you want with the options you want. Adding anything later is not cheap.

  • @SS-oj4en
    @SS-oj4en Před 6 lety

    Hey Luke great watching you test the new GT3's it reminds me of my 1st drives of these amazing cars. Having owned a number of Porsches over the last 30 years I need to tell you that if you are a driver and spend a reasonable amount of time behind the wheel of a GT3 (any model) then its going to be hard to be satisfied with anything else that does not have a GT badge on it!! I recently went looking for a 991.1 GT3 CS as I wasn't sure if I would be successful with my registered expression of interest on a 991.2 GT3. The thing that I found was that all GT3's are so fast as road cars with incremental improvements(only) in handling and power as the newer ones became available. In saying that there is a big step change in feel between the 997.2 and the 991.1 GT3 for me. - the 997.2 feels smaller/more intermit, more visceral with amazing steering feel as opposed to a larger more current cockpit which i feel is less engaging. The overwhelming feature of 991.1 is that its a fast car with its PDK transmission swapping cogs that quick that you are at insane speeds before you know it however, I'm not on it like that all the time when driving on the road which is 80-90-% of my driving of the car, so I was left with very little to do when driving the car and not on it. I chose to buy a 997.2 GT3 CS for now. RE GT4 they are an amazing car however I just love the shape of the 911!! The GT3's all sound amazing so there is no disappointment there the 997.1 or .2 I think is the sweet spot. Good Luck and keep up the enthusiastic videos.

    Yeah discovered channel a few weeks back and SIC bro, keep it up. Looking to get my 1st Porsche in April 2018 with £20k down, would love a 991.1 GTS 4 but out of my budget so as most people have said, pick the right car and take your time. I'll propabably go for a 991.1 4S with a high spec as this car will be my daily, work, shopping everything.

      Thanks mate, good luck with your search and yeah I will take my time and enjoy it also. Let me know what you end up getting, the 4S is for sure a car you can use for event if and have a lot of fun on the twisty’s 😃

    Having driven all three, GT3>GT4>GTS. I'd never trade my GT4 for a GTS, but a GT3...

    I would not stretch this far especially if you are financing it. Honestly, thinking about getting squeezed that much in terms of monthly payments would just suck the enjoyment out of it...anyway, they're your finances and only you know how well you are set up in terms of your retirement, investments etc. I'd stick with an older model GT3 or even the Cayman GT4 would be decent.

    What kind of camera do you use, Luke? Sony A7RII, III? Ever think about selling presets for your photos or doing a video on how you color correct your videos? I don't know if you know but those videos get a lot of views these days.

    Not sure if its much cheaper (if at all!) Luke but the 991.1 GTS looks fabulous especially with a retro Ducktail. I had a 'play' with the ex UK press car a while ago - luvverrly (I don't think you can get a .2 with a ducktail)

    Hi Luke. Nice video! If you come in Lausanne, you can test my 911 GTS 4. It has still the naturally aspirated engine with 430PS. The sound is better than the turbo version and 4WD give a feeling of security especially with wet roads. I have the automatic version PDK wich give extra comfort in the daily drive without loosing the sportivity. Anyway it is not to sell! Cheers.

      Just coming back to this - I actually retract my statement. Now my GT3 has arrived, I can honestly say the GTS is nothing on the GT3. Yes, the GTS is a very usable car, but it lacks all of the theatre, feel and control that the GT3 has.
      ..GT4 it is for you i think Luke.

    Consider getting a naturally-aspirated 911 while you still can. Since the GT3 is out of your budget, you may want to consider a 991.1 GTS.

    • @carswithluke
      @carswithluke  Před 6 lety

      g00dfeeling True you totally can, I think it’s more that the Porsche will just perform better in the snow for instance than other exotic brands but at the end you can of course try and use anything

    • @g00dfeeling
      @g00dfeeling Před 6 lety

      Is it because of the higher ground clearance, narrower tires, specific gear ratio or it is just gut feeling. I still can not see how any Porsche could be better in the snow than for instance Ferrari GTC4Lusso, AMG GT or Audi R8. I think it is just a myth about Porsche maybe related to early 365 which wasn't actually performance car.

    What do you think about the new Carrera T? Seems to be a great drivers cars and a bit cheaper than the standard carrera s etc. I think you should consider to test drive one in your "My next car" - series, i would certainly enjoy it. Love your videos - Keep it up! :)
