Aphelios lore and TL;DR version below in case you didn't understand the quotes
Aphelios and his twin sister Alune (the spirit-like woman behind Aphelios in the splash art) were born during a "rare lunar convergence, when the physical moon was eclipsed by its reflection in the spirit realm" Aphelios and Alune were seen as children of destiny to what remains of the Lunari faith. Aphelios and Alune had gifts, Aphelios represented the physical moon and Alune represented the spiritual side of the moon. The Lunari faith were the complete opposite of the Solari faith, the Solari worshipped the sun and felt safe in the light, where the Lunari worshiped the moon and felt safe in the darkness, Aphelios and Alune took this to such a degree though that they felt that the only thing that could keep them safe in the world was the darkness. The Solari hated the Lunari and wish to kill all of them since they are seen as heretics, the Lunari used to be the dominant religion of Mount Targon but those times were thousands of years ago, the dominant religion started to switch over to the sun slowly over time though and eventually became dominant so the Lunari were forced into hiding keeping their religion a secret so they're not eliminated. Aphelios trained hard to protect those of his faith and so the Lunari sent Aphelios on missions because he was getting more skilled by the day. Alune however trained as a Seer but her duties had her leave the temple where the two were raised. Without Alune, Aphelios found himself losing faith. Aphelios decided to partake in a ceremony where the Lunari found their "orbits" or their path in life where they had to "journey into darkness", Aphelios eventually got to a pool and saw bloomin Noctum flowers underwater. Noctum flowers are said to be a poisonous plant but they could be made into a liquid and whoever drank from it is said to gain the "night's power." Aphelios drank the liquid and felt "intense pain that numbed him to everything else." Meanwhile in the Marus Omegnum which was an ancient temple in the Spirit Realm started to come into the Physical Realm for the first time in centuries. The Marus Omegnum would only let one person who was gifted in magic go into the temple, this person would be Alune. Aphelios, asked to see his sister one last time before going into the ancient temple. As the Marus Omegnum started to come into the Physical Realm, the armies of the Solari had come to end the Lunari once and for all. Just as everything seemed as if it was over, Alune went into the heart of the temple and she connected to Aphelios with her magic, and she used her magic to make weapons to replace his broken blades. The battle ended shortly with the combined force of Aphelios and Alune the attacking Solari would never see the light of the sun they worshipped again. Alune pushed the Marus Omegnum back into the Spirit Realm in case Solari tried attacking again. Alune was now alone inside the Marus Omegnum but through the power of the Noctum flower's liquid she could talk to Aphelios and see the Physical Realm through his eyes. With the power of Aphelios and Alune combined the two could protect more of their faith easily. The other Lunari might not understand their connection through the Physical and Spirit Realms but together Aphelios and Alune are the weapon they need.
TL;DR: Aphelios and his sister Alune are born during a rare lunar convergence. Each of them represented one side of the moon, Spiritual and Physical. Solari want to kill Lunari. Aphelios drinks a liquid that helps him connect to the power of the night. Ancient temple comes back from the Spirit Realm and Alune is chosen because only one gifted in magic can go in once it reappears. Solari attack and Alune gets new powers that help her connect to Aphelios. Solari all die and the two are now the greatest weapon of the Lunari.
Sorry if it seemed like this story wasn't told as well as the other ones, Aphelios' lore can be confusing to explain in a few parts but I put it as simple as I could. If you have any questions about things feel free to ask and I'll answer as best I can.
fun facts:
1. Zoe, before she became the Aspect of Twilight. Was part of the Lunari religion which makes her thousands of years old.
2. The champion Leona represents the Aspect of The Sun and Diana represents the Aspect of The Moon.
3. Aphelios' weapons are focused through Alune, without Alune, Aphelios wouldn't be able to summon his weapons.

@@carnage6968 yeah, the only time that I know of that he's talked in lore is when he asks to attend Alune going into the temple. Also I haven't read his short story so I don't know if he talks in that one or not.

Aphelios is that image. His Sister is witness of what society does to him. His Sister, suffers with him realizing it all.
Suicide rate for men is 130+ a day. Feeling voiceless is the most dangerous pain you can fall into.

His back story makes me tear up.
Alune doesn't come off as obsessive. The only person she talks to and know really well is her brother. But there are times when some of her voicelines rub me off the wrong way. While the Solari are the one slaughtering Lunaris and committing heinous atrocities, I feel there are unspoken darker sides to Lunari faith. Morgana's darkness gives me comfort and strength while the Lunari darkness gives me a eerie vibe that I cannot place. Also the previous sentence in no way is me saying what the Solari has done is okay. It's just the Lunari faith just seems to have a darker secret (no pun intended) that the Lunari themselves are not aware of.

The more and more I listen to this the more I wonder when aphelios is going to confront Diana. She's the current aspect of the moon but I mean aphelios is actually a lunari.
Nightbringer Yasuo - Dawnbringer Riven would be so cool
There's a reference to the two forces in the quotes Dawnbringer represents Order and Nightbringer represents Chaos. I'm not for certain if it's canon, but it's interesting.

It also showed me how the Lunari religion works, it's interesting that they don't see themselves as good or bad, just in between.
Jsc1jake The line about chaos and order at the beginning is a line for the Dawn/Nightbringer skin line universe. Riot makes alternate universes for their skin lines now, and that line is canon when you are looking at the Dawn/Nightbringer, but is not canon if you look at the normal universe. Although it does fit well with their base lore as well, as you said.
I don't play the game but I always find my way to this channel and I end up binge watching the videos every time (except Kindred, I watch that so much that it's a comfort video at this point). These are so well crafted and atmospheric, the music you pick for the background typically is so perfect, it enhances without overshadowing. I just fall in love with these characters and I'm so happy you're still making these videos 💙

I love, love, love your Kindred quotes video (and the newer 17 languages one as well!) and although maybe I should’ve seen this one coming, I was still super shocked and stoked when this popped up in my feed! I also gotta say that’s an interesting interpretation of their relationship you have... Maybe I’m just a sucker for sibling bonds in fiction, so I definitely view the Lunari twins’ closeness with quite a bit of fondness....but considering their devout upbringing plus their peers’ insistence that they’ve both got some major fate to fulfill? It _does_ make sense if Alune manipulates her brother into sacrificing himself alongside her. Hmmm. Food for thought!

Aphelios is mute whenever he connects to his sister (he drinks a poison that allows them to connect, but he becomes numb to everything and his throat constricts so he can’t talk) so the lines that we hear are what Aphelios hears through his mental connection to his sister. So technically it is Alune’s voicelines, but you only hear them when playing as aphelios, so for clarity the video says Aphelios voice lines.
Also there are some voicelines from aphelios, but they are only sounds of him grunting or breathing when he takes damage/is low health.
How long will it take you to make one on Fliddlesticks? We all know you will, seeing his story telling voice-lines. Just asking for the estimation...

I knew you'd get on his dialogue as soon as I heard his set of voice-lines from Skinspotlights! Hell, I even listed some of them there in that video's comments in the order in which they feel like coming from in chronological order...
