- In this video I take my first Autumn hot tent camping trip of the year! The mountains are finally getting cold enough for a hot tent. Temperatures dropped to around 35°F (~1.7°C) overnight. The weather was perfect on this trip. There was virtually no wind and the skies were clear all day and night. The stars were shining and the moon was so bright I could see without a light on! I fired up the wood stove and cooked some delicious chicken tikka masala with naan bread. It was so relaxing to sit by my stove and stare out at the lake while I ate dinner. Trips like this one are why I love camping so much! I hope you love it too!

That Pomoly Stovehut is so versatile. What a nice camp, great spot, great food, great gear. Also probably every bear in a 3 county vicinity wanted in on dinner.
Thank you! The Stovehut really is versatile and I like it a lot. I know I'm taking a risk every time I cook in my tent but it is so convenient 😅 I always have bear spray though.
Yeah in the boy scouts always warn not to have any scent in the tent let alone food and cooking. @HikeCampClimb you are brave.

I always have felt that cooking and eating after dark and by/in the tent greatly increases the risk of bear encounters. Be careful out there if you are in bear country..I know it looks good on film but it is definitely a risky practice that leaves you and your tent smelling like dinner!
That is good advice! We only have black bears here and I have not seen one in years. Still, I know I'm taking a risk. That is part of the reason I always bring bear spray and a firearm.

High of 82°F expected here in Oklahoma today. Mosquitoes, gnats, fleas and ticks have been horrible this year. Besides that, can't wait to try out my gear in an actual forest when it gets cooler. I set up everything in my backyard to familiarize myself with the gear but it's just not the same. I think the only thing left I might need is a sled of some sort to pull it all

Oh wow! I didn't know it was still that warm this time of year and insects are one of the reasons I prefer winter camping. I bought a regular kids sled last winter and it worked great! It was much easier to pull the weight than to carry it on my back. Besides, I had to much stuff to fit in a pack lol.
Yes, I still only use my phone for recording. I'm glad you like the wood stove shot from behind! I was proud of that one.

The only thing I think is missing is a few minutes of bloopers at the end of your videos haha, that would be fun to see. I guess what I'm saying is that, your videos are too perfect 😂.
