As you know, this is our own #AutomannsGarage Golf R which we already did a video of once it was brand-new. Now that the car has about 7.000 km on the clock I definitely feel that exhaust is getting freed up but from a power perspective I think that could be more in it once the car has passed the 10.000 km barrier. I would like vw produce a 5 cylinder engine for the R version and keep 4 cylinders for the GTI.
Yes i would buy it immediatly, the audi RS3 engine in the golf R!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The problem is that VW is the "people's car" brand and since Audi has their 5 cylinder RS3 and TTRS it would put a Golf on basically the same level as the luxury sports cars from Audi which they don't want. They want that clear line between VW and Audi which is understandable but it sucks.
Why not a 6cyl like the r32

As fast as a 5.0 450 bhp Mustang GT, wow, VW knows how to put power to ground effectively
Maybe to 100, but the mustang is about 3 seconds faster to 200 . Not even close once it's rolling

Sure 400+ bhp means its not fluke, but sure VW / German guys needs some mention putting HP to ground more effectively than American and even Japanese car brands

I read somewhere that the opf adds around 25 kg of weight seems a bit weird to add weight to stop pollution.
Mine has 10.000km and runs exactly same times, measured with Dragy. Cars seem to have a bit more power than claimed.
What kind of vacuum cleaner is this ?

I think this is the best sport car you can have. Its not flashy like Audi or BMW which makes it cheaper to maintain and its more silent and you can unleash the beast when nobody watch. Its also great daily car

Unfortunately, the engine is too small that it cant take too much stress. Have a friend who owns a scirocco R with 500hp. Continuously sends it to the work shop cuz the engine keeps getting totalled.
mrbeadfor you know, it is stock made 310hp, so chip for 500hp is pretty dangerous i think, it is still fucking 4 cylinder, no V8... but still good performance even for small golf, it can take 4 persons kind a comfortly for a weekend trip. And on the highway still good performance for overcoming even with 4 people on the board, but I would like to see this engine after 200.000km..

My tachometer stopped at 269km/h, but you have to keep in mind the divergence between tachometer and GPS velocity measurement

Ich hab einen Golf r Facelift und hab nie das Gefühl das er mächtig klingt... ein andere Kumpel hat nen gti der klingt nicht wirklich besser ...liegt auch daran weil einer meiner Kollegen einen Mustang fährt und der klingt wirklich mächtig da kommt mir mein Auto wie ein Spielzeug vor (soundtechnisch) weil wenn es um aussehen und Innenausstattung geht hat der mustang keine Chance alles viel edler beim Golf

Hilarious how the fake car audio trys to make it sound like a 5 cylinder.
MK6 Golf R sound actuator made a 6 cylinder-like sound.
The EA888 engine itself has a nice grunt but you can't hear it because of this annoying 5 cylinder sound. Go search for MK6/MK7 GTI acceleration video and listen =)

My MK6 GTI DSG doesnt have it and I'm so glad it doesn't. With the catback exhaust on it, it has a deeper tone that turns into a scream!

I compare the Videos from my Golf 2019 Golf r with this there is a difference from at least 1.5sec. My Golf has around 35000km on it. And if i compare it directly with the video of the 8r it nearly exactly the same. I think it also depands how you rev the engine over a longer Periode of time. With motorbikes its the same... if you use two of the same models and one just for track use and one on the normal road you will after 10-20000km a significant difference in performance

It seems there is no dsg fart sound when you are using launch control, also on the tachometer it looks like the shifting just like normal automatic instead of dsg. Why?
Im watching this video now(again, watched it then when u post it) and just want to tell u the diference betwen this engine and that one with 310 hp! Its actualy completly diferent engine, not just ecu detuned and put opf! Im really disapointed that VW remove dual injection in this one with opf! In order to cost saving! So this engine has completly different fuel injection system. Thats why the time is different! Its not just lose the hp its lose that dual(mpi) incjection wich make that version with 310 hp one of the best engines in the world! This one with opf will have problem with carbon build up on intake valve, after 20k km u will fill that car is lose some power, so i want to say to u to test it again, to se difference! Thanks!

I didnt wait for my engine to be driven in as it is redundant to do so and kicked the engine from day one till now..performance is the same now then at the beginning but fuel consumption went down....

some engines like a little more exhaust pressure. maybe the adjusted software with the opf just works really good

It sounds like nothing while reving. If it wasn't for burbles while letting go of the gas it would sound like a normal Golf 1.6L. Try i30 N, haa at least a little bit aggression while reving.
The R could be a bit louder in Race Mode. In my opinion the sound of i30N is for guys/boys in their 20s.

Rwd cars are generally better at higher speeds where awd cars have much more inertia to battle with. Nevermind that it has 2 extra cylinders helping to put the 40hp extra down.
