The Mission: To save a stripped out and forgotten D-Day Airplane from the Scrapyard and get her flying for the 75th anniversary of D-Day (June 6th, 2019).
The Timeframe: We have only 6 months to get the DC-3 flying.
The Reason: This airplane is only a handful left in the world that actually flew on D-Day. We are getting her flying in the memory of people who lost their lives that day, June 6th, 1944.
The Cost: Everything we have.

Mikey: "Stella, have you seen my old self around?"
Stella: "Yeah, he is in there...when you see him tell him to stop leaving the toilet seats up where ever he goes!!...and tell him he has to make me a birthday cake for my next birthday, control towers don't cut the mustard"
Thank you Bell for choosing Canada for your cold weather testing,👍🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Loved the show Mickey great scoop on showing us Bells newest Helicopter . I was UH-1H crewchief for 10 years. I crewed the last UH-1H 69-23169 in the 82nd ABN Div. Before the switch to UH-60 BlackHawks
Multiple Mikeys...thank you Future Mikey for a fascinating episode, thank you Bell for allowing us an insight. And thank you Past Mikey for keeping the whole ship running.
Thanks Mikey! Another great one - fantastic to see the new Bell 525 doing cold-weather testing. That is one sweet looking aircraft - I bet it's as nice to fly as it is to look at. Darn, you get all the fun of meeting the great folks there for the project. Thanks to Bell for graciously allowing Plane Savers worldwide to have a peek. I can guarantee one thing: I've lived and worked in and around Yellowknife, and I've lived and worked some in Texas too. I guarantee you that the Bell guys will never see Texas quite the same way after weeks of enjoying the Yellowknife winter.
Thanks Mikey for the heads up with Bell-much appreciated!🚁
That was awesome! Extend our gratitude to Jeff and everyone at Bell. I have seen the 429 up close and it’s pretty impressive. I can only imagine what the 525 will be like.
That new Bell logo is AMAZING!
Watching Bell testing helicopters reminds me of watching them years ago when I worked in TX in a hanger on the other side of the runway to their test facility.
Hello future Mikey. Thanks for helping out Present Mikey. He's been super busy keeping plane savers going.
That was a total spin out how you managed to successfully pull that off mate. Well done and top job at doing old and new Mikey.
Very cool their maintenance crew is a bunch of rock stars and super good people. Last year they took over the hanger i work in to do high altitude test. I'm glad you got to see it. Keep up the good work and keep on being awesome
Nice episode Mikey from the future and from the past :-) Great Job !! and nice from BELL to allowed you to film their new testing bird Excellent !! Cheers,
Great show Mikey! Please do us all a favor: Mikey II was good, I mean he was REALLY GOOD. Having said that, KEEP YOUR EYE on him. He may be after your job, and believe me - You cannot be replaced. You are the best!!! Keep up the great work, and please keep Mikey II on a short leash.
Cheers from Mickey in Florida
👍👍👍
Thank you Mikey and thank you Bell fantastic episode 👍have a great day off Mikey
Good boosting for Yellowknife as well as Relentless 525.
Way COOL Mickey !
Best part of the video was seeing the Buffalo bathroom at 9:15
Well done Mikey, well done indeed!
Great Job Mikey...had a smile and laughing the whole time...we had a cold snap down here in Debary Florida...38° at night...back to spring at 84° yesterday and today...stay warm the thaw is right aroud the corner...
Today was a seriously good episode, on a number of levels. Thanks Mickey.
What's better than Mikey? Two Mikey's! Great to get a sneak peek of the Bell. I worked for Bell 7 years overhaul and modification and have a special liking for Bell helicopters. Thanks
How awesome!! 🍻✌️🛫🚁🚁
nice work Mike
The new Mikey is much better looking!
Bell is also testing quiet stealth technology...they turn the rotors really really slow..as evidenced by Mikey's filming.
Great to see you get a scoop over major aviation reporters, fantastic!
Very nicely done Mikey! Always enjoy the audio & video "magic" that you bring in each and every episode. That was also a nice shout-out to the Bell folks for what they're bring in to the local community (that still shot of fish & chips looked mighty tastey) which was good on you and it's always nice when Stella makes a cameo appearance. Hope you enjoyed your day off my friend. You keep filming & informing, we'll keep watching & learning! Cheers
Literally a week before you started plane savers, I binged watched all of Ice Pilots since its now on amazon prime, and finally got to see the last few seasons that never aired in the USA. Glad I joined your channel because a few days later you started your awesome Plane Savers series. Keep it up Mikey, and thanks for the great content.
Super cool of Bell to allow some footage to be shot. Great job Mikeys
Awesome Job!!👍the new Bell logo is nice!!and a hi to all the Bell staff!👍✌#67
GREAT SHOW AGAIN SO COOL what a chopper
Another great episode. I love that new Bell. I hope to see some flying overhead here soon. Loved the dual Mikey's :-)
Well done Mikey for securing that scoop with Bell the brand leaders in helicopter technology, you could not find a better cold weather environment to test out helicopter systems.
Excellent Mikey but you let Bell off the hook - they are playing with the fastest helicopter ever!
Super fun multi-Mikey episodes. Cheers guys.
The Pub Grub looks A-1!!!
The time you take for the little editing touches is much appreciated.
Cool video
Way cool! What a treat Mikes, thank you so much
Be amazing to see where you are going to end up with the creativity for the shows. Just make sure you let yourself down slowly at the end. Love it.
Another great episode! Thanks for all the work and effort to make this episode.
Interesting episode the Bell testing in particular.
HA! I worked on the 525 project in its infancy procuring sheet metal assemblies and complex long lead time parts. We had no idea when it was going to fly then. And now, it's flying and doing well, and even made it up to your parts!
Oh Mikey, that was sooo cool !! well worth the wait. I still lmao when i see the 2 Mikeys. Great work! 2 Thumbs up.
Awesome just awesome. Can’t believe Bell let you film her. Nice keep it up.
Well done Mikey, you dovetailed all that together so neatly. Love how you got back to the hanger to meet up with "Wing it Wednesday" Mikey again, and that he had left all of the stuff from the mail he had opened on the table... THAT was a very subtle and neat bit if continuity there Mr Producer man!
And as you said on film, many many thanks to Bell for allowing all that to happen. I hope that another third 'off camera Mikey', got to see the new helicopter close up, or maybe sat in it, or even had a short ride in it? We will never ever know the answer to that one, as WE KNOW you would always do the right thing in respecting their privacy.
So, I hope you enjoyed your day off, the first one for a long time, and I appreciate that you did it in a way that didn't leave us, the viewers, without our daily Plane Savers fix.
I'm looking forward to the live stream tomorrow. I HAVE A REALLY REALLY IMPORTANT AND INTERESTING QUESTION TO ASK YOU!!!!
So, see you tomorrow, and please try not to be late this week... Lol.
Regards,
David Jones,
Coventry,
UK.
Thanks David!!!! :)
Love that duel personality editing. The new Mikey came up with a great episode.
I've heard the saying, "I met myself as I was leaving", but I've never really seen it. Well, now I have. That was cool editing. Great episode again, Mikey.
Get your jetranger in the air as a Chase chopper :)
I visited the Bell facility in Mirabel 20 years ago. Cool episode
Love it Mikey. keep them coming
Hell yeah!
Bell built B-29s in Marietta Ga in the plant that is now Lockheed-Martin.

Good job on the editing and special effects. Keep the episodes flowing.
Have a great day off Mikey.
Well done Mikey. Somebody from Ford, send Mikey a new windscreen for his truck.
Just send him a new truck attached to the new windshield...
Super cool! Very interesting. And your editing is so good, I loved how you made the logo vanish behind that window frame! Thanks to both Mikeys!
:) !!!
Lol the 2 Mikey's are so awesome!👍nice comment!
Cool I see your over 25,000 subs now 🤘 well done
You scooped the aviation reporters, another first for Plane Savers!,,
The Black Knight is also my favorite place to go in Yellowknife...I am now craving their Yukon Gold Chicken Wings lol
Good looking helo. I can barely manage myself and you did two of yourselves, well done.
Brilliant!!!
Nice. Retractable gear. Looks like a derivative or progression of the Bell 407. Big machine for the SAR role.
Mikey, you are too much! I love your videos.
cool i liked two mikey doubble wicked
Nice episode! Split timelines do mess with my head though...its why I have to keep re-watching Season 2 of Westworld :-)
Pretty cool episode with past and future Mikey. I get confused with all this time travel, so I'm just going to go back to tomorrow and watch the next episode yesterday. :)
Excellent episode Mikey, take it easy.
I liked that!
Great video Mikey...but dang nabbit you did it AGAIN sir! You walked through your office hallways past all those vintage aircraft and aviation photos. Me pausing just does not do them justice. Please do a episode on them one day...maybe with your dad? Keep up the great work MIKEYS !
Awesome! Was hoping you would be able show the 525!
Well done

Love helicopters I would have said Super cool - but its more appropriate to say HOT VIDEO well done all.... I like new Mikey....more polished than old Mikey and new Mikey is a Heli guy...Joking! Mikey nice timing on the production re split screen thats not easy... Goodness knows what you will come up with next...Outstanding!!!!
What the BELL happened to your camera? Did that big bad helicopter knock it over? LOL. bad helicopter

Wow, cool helicopter! Were they able to test this helicopter when it was -40?
Very cool man i like future mikey and past mikey
Note the Foxtrot Whiskey on the tail of the Bell chase-- Fort Worth, Texas
Awesome work.
Your twin is cooler looking though. ;)
You're really getting into your post-production program. Now you need to use a soft wipe and perhaos some black/white level adjustments so the background blend is a bit better.
What a great helicopter. Sadly, a Bell 525 prototype crashed back in July 2016 killing both test pilots 😕
Hello Mickey, greetings from Barranquilla, Colombia, South America; Unfortunately, today, a beautiful DC3, of registration HK-2494, crashed in a place in the region of the Colombian Amazon (La Bendición-Guaviare), 14 people died, indigenous people of the region, very poor people, God has them in his Glory, Amen ... ... and a brave goodbye to that glorious flying machine ... the Dakota DC3, gave a great service to humanity, we must offer military honors to that noble plane.
Alexander Anaya Zambrano I saw the news in Europe this morning... always sad when people get killed in a plane crash, and even more sad if a DC3 is involved. My thoughts go out to the family and friends of those who got killed.
@@jeroenpuyman6664 That's right, thank you for your noble gesture of feeling for this disaster that mourns very poor people of my country and of course to this aircraft of DC3 icon of a thousand battles
That is an incredible aircraft! How do they fit 19 people into it? Can you please do an aurora episode? Love your work Mikey. Best wishes from England... H & N xx
