- In the autumn of 1828, while he contemplated how life was slipping away from him, Franz Schubert composed three monumental piano sonatas. The “Andantino” from the Sonata D 959 begins with a languid melody of weeping gestures. Against this, an impetuous section of extreme and violent sonorities develops before once again leading back to the varied repetition of the opening section. In this way, the ineffable destiny ultimately imposes its will.

Schubert wrote this knowing he would die soon, and not in a pleasant way. I've never heard the anger he must have felt, and the resignation, expressed so clearly ... just fantastic!!!
O my god what a piece. You can feel Schuberts heart right here and now. With such few notes he could express such deep feelings. He knew the piano so deeply. I havent listened to Schubert much as I thought is not for my taste but this just made me very curious to explore Schubert. Wow
absolutely mesmerizing artistry, almost wizardry. Absolutely am stunned by how true to the music this performer is. No weird grimaces, just pure art.
