As a boater that has lost several friends I hope you realize how quickly this outing could've killed you. There are no second chances and maybe running something with a little less consequences for being one inch left would keep you alive longer. Here's a rule of thumb if you swam on Tallulah two months ago don't run this.
@@isaaclay5510 You betcha! Long lives bring wisdom. I'm a retired ACA certified whitewater instructor, btw, but whatever... Bake and boat. Go for for it, dude. Just make sure you got a GoPro on your head to prove you did it, no matter how suicidal. The real problem here, Isaac, is that young guys who don't know any better will think they can get away with this kinda shit. It's quite irresponsible.
@@alaskaasmr200 we knew what the run was several factors came into play we didn’t account for, 1) water came up from the time we scouted to the time we put on 2) I forgot to move my seat back to stock so I was out of control also if I wanted to get away with this shit why would I post it
That's insane. We used to call that "hero paddling". Through the trees, flood conditions with no eddies, impossible to scout (or even pull out for that matter), wood in the river. I'd say luck played a fairly big part in this one.
That was survival boating at its absolute finest! Watching that was terrifying and hilarious in equal measures. Glad you and your buddy made it out alive. Maybe inspect your next first descent a bit better though😜
Glad your go pro didn’t get tangled up in any of that jungle, I got trapped underwater in some vines on a flooding creek a few yrs ago, wood and camera on helmet can be deadly. Way to hang and duck though man!! Guess there wasn’t any way to scout that
That's so insane! I feel like I just watched a sped-up Jurassic Park movie without the dinosaurs. You had zero time to even catch your breath. Zero eddies. Holy shit, bro - insane! (glad you held on to your paddle!) Out of curiosity, where is this creek? What kind of crazy elevation do were you hitting?
A friend told me years ago. There's a fine line between two class 5 boaters having the time of their life and there being a fatality. Keep that in mind.
Holy proper fuck!! Way to be keeping up that run. biting my nails the entire time man. Where is this so I know to avoid at all cost?! seriously... where?
Its in the Chattooga drainage and there was a second rapid after it that had even worse wood in it and then walked off there are more rapids down stream but the first one is unrunable and would be a hassle to portage
I want to grow up to be a beater someday! Just like him! Only drunk like Uncle Cletus when he done it in his inner tube. Last time we seen 'im too. (dueling banjos playing in the background)
Better idea. Go in at low water with a light weight electric, battery operated chain saw. When you are about to run it, walk it again with lighter equipment, scout then decide.. I got caught on a freight train at surprise flood level and we left our boats creek side for a week, came back at 1/5th the flow. In the NC mountains it's called a "Mt Laurel Hell."
Hey Jakob Simpson, do you have an email address at which we could contact you regarding this video? We would be interested to discuss a license to use this video if this is generally possible? (i.e. via email) :) Cheers, Felix
Somewhere there’s a local who’ll tell you how they took inner tubes down that when they were kids.
🤣🤣🤣
Bahahahahah
🤣💯💯💯
I totally inner tubes this shit when I was a kid… KLCG
That’s some solid class tree whitewater.
😂
This comment is the hero we all need right now. It is a treasure that must be protected. AT. ALL. COST.
😂
I thought it was more like class sticks.
I hope you realize how much luck went into the two of you paddling out of that...

Thank you for being more lucid than I am. This video is so absurd.
Sounds like you guys have been riding on pontoons your whole life with a 15 horse power motor pushing you across a lake in Kentucky or something

@@Lea99Jones I don't think that was the case here. You can tell they were pissed amd weren't expecting the run to be as bad.

Wow you found a class 7 creek! That was fucking insane dude, thankful you guys survived to upload this lol
Surprised it wasn’t your last descent too.
This was a loose operation. I like your style, so let’s try to stay alive a little longer.
you need to hold your paddle in one hand keep a machete in the other!
(edit): 0:56 scratch that your going to need a chainsaw
Turn around a second later and lights out!
😂😂😂💦💦💦💦💦
That was up there with the very gnarliest runs I've ever seen in my life. The stuff nightmares are made of.
You're not kidding
That went quite well considering how many trees you went under it through!
that run has more wood than some hardware stores
And most porno films…..!
I had to watch this twice and I ducked both times at the end. 🤣 That was insane.
I totally ducked too with him lol
I just watched again today 😂😂😂 over a year later🎉
The what the fuck! at the end says it all lmao
Amazing! What a rollcoaster of scared, getting it together, and losing it over and over again! Way to keep your head...attached
With all those strainers and logs and fast water, that’s a death wish.
"Hi I'm Jakob, and I have a death wish" - Jakob's dating profiles
I would love to see the whole run. Yall r a different breed fer shure
holy cow that was rowdy. that paddle grab was clutch and the way you ducked right as you were turning around was so clean
Anyone else noticed his paddle upside down ?
@@davidpeek7385 😅
@@yakob.simpson better upside down then behind him. 😂
Absolute insanity. Nice work on staying alive.

Absolutely gnar! So glad you guys are okay!
WOW. please take care. Be blessed be a blessing.
Wow, miss me with that shit!!! Your reaction was hilarious
Cool video. Thanks for sharing that
Awesome. Class 2+ is scary enough. Thanks for sharing!!
Holy tree branch Batman! Needed to run: Helmet, face shield, armor plated gloves, and Ibuprofen! What a wild, should I say slide!
The "what the fk?!" At the end explains it all 😂
With those trees, it's a nightmare, I'm glad you're alive!
Holy $$$$ that looked gnarly lol!
Well that looked dangerous 👀😅
No one’s commenting that he did most of this with his paddle upside down. Impressive
Haha that was awesome you ducked tf outta that log 😂
What the duck did I just watch. That is like the most continuous single rapid ever
Holy shit! That was so much gnarlier then I thought it was gonna be...
gnarly!
Sheesh, lot of strainers, juicy flow
Good timing ducking that tree!!
Best kayaking video I have ever seen
That was awesome and insane!
Christ!! You might want to get some beavers in there or something. :D
Holy 🐮! That’s wild dude! Those trees looked like they kept coming out of nowhere! Kudos bro! 🙏
Already went to 2 memorials of guys like this.
Dude gnarly
Too much wood for me. You guys are nuts. Way cool video . SYOTR.
That was rowdy.
Was that the Star Wars trench run?! Jeez good job.

Who's on rescue standby hmmm?
We bushwhacked the hell out of it
Did you survive?

Good grief, how did you get those gigantic balls in that small boat. Epic !!!
This is why having a drone would be perfect for situations like this

Soooo sick
Insane in the membrane
MADNESSSSSS!!!!!!
The commentary: "tree...tree...branch... TREE....tree...tree "
This is dangerus level pro haha...
Woah!
For some reason it occurs to me that if they classified whitewater based on the number of eddies, that would be Class 0.
I remember floating that on a beach ball.
pretty stupid creek to run, seems lucky you both made it out of there.
I see you are new to creek boating
@@kayakwesty funny comment, im not new, iv been around the world and that boating is a death wish. unstoppable unscoutable out of control "boating".
Another astute comment from someone who knows what they're talking about.
give an asshole a GoPro and see what happens.
Gnarly as fuck!
What in the actual Flux!!! Spicey
Fantastic run, masterpiece.
Holy strainer.
Whose fucking idea was this??? Jfc
What river is this? What an insane experience! Glad you guys came out okay. Did you end up finishing the run or did you walk off after this insanity?
Its in the Chattooga drainage and there was a second rapid after it that had even worse wood in it and then walked off there are more rapids down stream but the first one is unrunable and would be a hassle to portage
Yeesh, everyone can get lucky once. Hope you learned before its too late
holy schmokes! i my head you just thought one thing all the time: "holy shit, holy fuck, what the fuck, what the holy shit fuck"^^
sick descent!
Holy crap!

Holy Shit, WTF Bro!
I've seen more Eddies in a storm sewer!
How much elevation loss was this?
Wow… 😵💫
Yah freakin’ hoo!
I may have hurt my neck dodging wood.
HOLY SHIT BRO
If anyone wants to know a solid class 5 look no further. That was MAD! I literally held my breath the entire time!
What happened to Class 6?
@@kazawolf Haha, they ran it....
Ima go ahead and say class 6. That looked like pure luck.
I wouldn't call it class 5, 3-4 without the trees, pretty much straight down and try not to become part of a strainer.
@@craigsanders6925 True, but the trees are there, so 5. This is madness

holy shit
