  • Thursday February 6th, 2020. Snowmobiling from Calumet throughout Keweenaw County as well as Houghton. Trails were excellent and the weather was in our favor. Great day of riding!

I just got a new (to me) Polaris assault with the same lugs and track length as yours. Noticed you had scratchers, is that something you’d recommend I do?

Definitely. First year I rode my new sled was Feb 2019. (Bought it as a leftover) Trails were very hard packed. Sled kept getting warm. So before Jan 2020, I purchased ice scratchers and some no drill mounts. Worked perfectly. I could bend them around and hook on rail when not in use. If I remember correctly it dropped the sled temp a good 40 degrees. I've seen mention of a different snow flap to trap more snow, but this worked well. I took them off and cleaned them up for this winter. I was worried they would not flex correctly if left on the sled all summer. Not much time to take off and on. Hope this helps.

True bubblehead ! Ride the center or even the wrong lane 95 % of the time

I move to the right when I see or meet someone. I stay on my side in all the corners. I find it hard to believe you hug the right side of the trail all day long...

@@906patriot6 I understand your concern. A large number of riders I meet on the trail barely slow down in passing. Here’s hoping you have no head ons to deal with this year.

I am normally on the right or in the center until I can’t see at least 50 yards and then I’m hugging the Right side knowing an insane Johnny Rocket may come at me in my Lane.

@@906patriot6 it's probably from all the drunks on the trails going from bar to bar ..I hope they start having checkpoints again to keep drunk people off the trails
