Tried out a new skirt silhouette for this tutorial and I'm not mad at all. I share how to cut and sew a balloon skirt in this tutorial.
Enjoy.
Thank you so much â€ïž
You are literally helping me get through fashion school, thank you đâ€ïž
this tutorial is so clear and easy to follow, but I had so much trouble figuring out how to get the right sides together lol. I realized I was over thinking it. But it is incredibly hard to do, and I did the balloon effect in sections, not at all once. I was looking in the comments for tips and tricks and couldn't find any, so I just wanted to leave this for people who may be struggling like I was.
how did you finally figure it out? I feel like Iâve been trying for daysđ
@@musicforlifeeeadub hi! Have you found out how to make it? If so can you please explain? đ Iâve tried so so many times
âRight sides togetherâ doesnât refer to right and left as you may intuitively think.
In sewing there is a right side (which is the part that faces outward when you wear it) and a wrong side (which is the part that touches your body and where all your seams go)
And in this case the wrong side will never touch your body because all of the seams are on the inside of the skirt.
like if you turned a t-shirt inside out (right sides together), sewed the neck to the bottom and then pulled the whole thing back through one of the sleeves.
Love the way you make every step so clear.Thank you.

Old time something cone back again. I never liked these skirts but I watched all of the tutorial. ...Oh my the colours the stitching and then the finish product....you made it look really good. I'm gonna make one.
I honestly didn't like them as much as kid growing up. But if cut right, they are really stylish
It's true
Go girl you did that!!!! Next time you can add some tulle on the inside for some more pouf and use interfacing on your waistband for more sturdiness but it looks amazing

This tutorial is perfect for an upcoming cosplay of mine! These videos are amazing thank youđđđ
You're so welcome! Glad you enjoyed the video
Ma'am you are fabulous I want to learn you about fashion .
Thank you.
I try to share useful information about fashion on the channel. Hopefully you will find them useful
Beautiful. To make a diagonal shape with the back part longer and the front as short as yours youâd just diagonally enlarge the back pieces right?
Is it possible to make a balloon dress with darts under the bust? If so can you make a video about it? Thank you đ and btw love all your videos and admire your hard work!
This is such a cute skirt, I can't wait to make it! Just to clarify something, does the lining length determine about how long the skirt ends up being? I'm a bit confused about the lining length versus the main body length
This is so beautiful Priscillia! quick question for you even though itâs a year late- do you think this pattern would be possible as a pair of shorts, and if so, how would I do that?
love and lightđ€â€ïž
Love this videos, the skirt is so beautiful. Do you teach drape? I will love to learn with you
Thank you Daniel.
Draping is not my strongest design point, still learning about it myself

Hi Kim
I already have a pattern pic inserted how do I make this baloon/bubble. Do I just cut another piece of fabric but shorter. It want allow me to insert pic but it's the McCall's pattern m7727..TYIA
Well, this is probably unachievable on my decades-old Singer machine. Not with my current skillset anyway :D
But I'm definitely saving it for later, it's gorgeous!
I'm sure you will get there some day ^.^
How many mtr fabric use?
It's amazing âïžđ How natural material can I use? I can't wear synthetic fabrics... Please help me... I want to sew it
Thank you.
You can use a cotton or stiff linen fabric to create this skirt if you're looking for natural fibre alternatives.
Hi Iâm looking for a Seamstress to make me a skirt long on the back shorter on front ballon style ! Do you sew for people?
Yes I do commissions
Kindly send an email to kimdavedesigns@gmail.com
What is the black material called, that you used on waistband
The interfacing?
Can I use Ankara material to sew it
Yes you can actually
can you make a buttoned shirt
I have made a buttoned shirt dress with a collar and all czcams.com/video/TZpOwUag2Cw/video.html
I tried to follow it but it went completely wrong when pulled it inside out!
Hi Kim, Iâve followed all the video tutorial till the last part when you put together lining and outer skirt, when I do that right side to right side, sew on the wrong side and then turn it out from the hole left, it comes out like a cylindrical shape, how itâs possible? Iâve read other people had the same struggle, can you please better explain that part? How do you put together those 2 hems? thank you so much if you can help! :))
The balloon shape is created because the lining (which is meant to shorter and not as flared) pulls in the hemline of the main outer skirt.
The hem of the outer skirt is gathered into the hem of the lining, leaving a whole open to turn the skirt inside out.
I hope this helps.
I am from sri lanka.l watch and like your new creations. I fond to stitch various patterns of brassiers.Could you help me how to cut various sizes.May Triple GEM and God BLESS you!
Thank you for your support.
I will keep your request in mind for the future but here's a video that you might find helpful czcams.com/video/cqYdUU72A68/video.html
@@KimDaveDear,thank you so much for your kind information.I w'll try to search that you have mentioned.
đđđđ
Is it cotton fabric?
Yes it is, a heavy cotton drill
do you take custom request?
yes I do. Please email kimdavedesigns@gmail.com
What if you were not lining it how would to sew the hem
A facing or bias finished end might work. But I think the lining really secures the hemline in place
The lining is what helps create the bubble effect so you have to line it
