Good to be back!! Also... 23 years ago, not 13... jesus
love you man also i am a big fan ( shoutout?)
Welcome back. You were missed!
Chris Ramsay yea I was kinda gonna say that
I wasn't going to correct you on that if it were 13 i'd be 37. you have a great day!
Ah I loooove the amazing Johnathan
He didn't give him the 50$ back - that's the real trick ;)
i came to the comments to find the missing 50
I was waiting for him to give them back, but he never did
That kid was odd... guarantee he didn't forget about his $50
@@--RSL-- Yeah, probably
@@--RSL-- Of course he was odd, he was doing LSD
That kid absolutely shived Jonathan in the parking lot after the show for his $50
Nah, he's a plant.
I liked when he picked a “random” volunteer from the audience to do a cold read psychic routine. He asked her some questions that ended up something like; are you in a relationship “yes” are you engaged “yes” is your fiancé here tonight “yes” ... am I your fiancé? “Yes”!
Chris, that performance is 23 years old, not 13. XD
Honey Badger Strength & Conditioning I remember watching it on TV 23 years ago oh my God I’m old
@@mybackhurts7020 That must have been awesome!
He was counting in Canadian years, 1 Canadian year is roughly = 1.77 years in US. (13 x 1.77 = 23)
he never gave the guys 50 back
@@NewsNowFortWorth At an annual compound interest of 10%, he's nearly owed 448 USD today.
The dude never got back his $50. Lol
Ikr XD
It’s in his front pocket =)))
Wait really?
XDmasterXD watch at 8:57
@@azz75sl wow
He was an Aussie mainstay in the 90's, always over here on TV shows. My fave is in the middle of a trick he asks a random person "You sir, do you have a handkerchief?........because you have something hanging from your nose, it's really distracting"
When he stapled the cards over his assistant's eyes had me rolling. Even just thinking of that bit gets me. Fantastic comedian that I remember fondly.
"Later in the show, I take off all my clothes and run around the stage naked" *Takes a drink of Windex* "This keeps me from streaking." LOL gets me every time!!
Dude. As I kid I remember doing the trick after I watched Jonathan. Blue food coloring and an empty bottle. Left it around and it would freak people out.
I probably remember the drinking "windex" gag better than anything else, I used to love this dude (still do but it's been decades, I was a kid in the 90s and this was totally my kind of humor, plus was into magic in general).
that bit killed me the first time i heard it as a kid. even when my own version of it now it gets laughs
I used to do the 'borrow a lighter & throw it in the zip-lock bag' gag.
LOL! His shitty little puns like that are what make up a large part of his charm.
You just *know* he's spent thousands and thousands of hours cracking wise to himself at home in order to produce a few seconds of enjoyment for the rest of us.
It's always nice to see someone who's so passionate about their craft. 🥰
I remember The Amazing Johnathan. Loved him when I was younger. Always drank "windex" and said he was going to run around naked and didn't want to streak. lol. Great comedic timing.
....Such rubbish.
It wasn't fun back then, and it still isn't.
People laughed because they were expected to.
@@RubberyCat ok you're right. Your opinion is right, mine and several others opinions are wrong. How dare we like something.
@@capp00
See?
Even THAT sarcasm was far more entertaining than anything i saw in that video ....
Except perhaps the bag with multiple pockets.
Am i wrong?
Well, i think someone in the 90s said that opinions are like assholes, everyone has one, and they stink.
The interesting thing is that one:
That comment in itself is an opinion, and therefor subject to its own criticism.
Two, this makes it a double irony.
Now, if i wanted, i could hide behind that nonsense, but i'm a fan of fair play, so i won't.
Am i wrong?
No.
However, you are not wrong either.
If you think it was and is fun ... then i guess it is, at least for you.
Humor is built on recognition.
For some reason, you recognize that as humor.
I do not.
RubberyCat if you didn’t laugh at that you have no sense of humour.
@@realtaiter3991
Actually, i do.
I laugh at things that i find fun, not at things where i am expected to laugh.
Yes, i am claiming that you only _think_ those things were fun because you laughed at them, but when you originally laughed at them, you only did so because you were expected.
I require wit in my humor, or at least drastic reveals and nonsense.
This .... had very little of either, and what of that it had, went under-utilized in the wrong way and/or with bad timing.
But, you don't have to listen to me, i think The Three Stooges are crap as well, and you probably grew up with them and think people wacking other people over their heads are the height of comedy.....
Yes, i'm belittling your humor just as you did mine.
Is THAT funny?
Belittling others?
Not in itself, no, it requires something more, like Fish.
Dude, I love that you brought this back. I remember my dad and I watching The Amazing Johnathan when I was younger on Worlds Greatest Magician and the other TV specials. He is one of my dad's favorite and one of the magicians that got me into magic in the first place. Thanks for the nostalgia. 😊
I vividly remember him with an audience member on stage and he was holding a big knife. He then took the knife and starting what looked like cutting his arm off. Blood was gushing, his mannerism were of masochistic pain, and then after a few seconds he picks up the knife and wipes the blood off his arm and says "it's just a triiiiiick!"
I cant believe you didn't mentioned the ultimate comedy magician Tommy Cooper. Died on stage. Everyone thought it was part of his show then all stood up, laughed and clapped.
matrixrory Is this true? Or did you just go way too far for a joke on a comment
@@randomcatperson9339 100% true unfortunately. :(
@@randomcatperson9339 no. Look it up
This guy is heavily derivative of Cooper too. The forced laughter and exaggerated movements are all there in his misdirection
Lmao that's *DEDICATION* to the joke.
Drop dead funny, if you will.
13? 23 years if it is 1996.
Mr. Ramsay! Your dog ate your math homework again!?!
He vanished it by accident.
He's a magician not a mathematician
@@KaYem_inc Why not a little of both?
@@Fluffisnoterm because he couldn't do 2019 - 1996. I mean If he is a mathematician, he's not as good at it as he is at magic.
Ain't that a line from Motley Crue song? Where the dog eat the homework? XD
I saw The Amazing Johnathan perform in Atlanta sometime in the late 90s or early 2000s and he absolutely lived up to the name. Just an pleasure to watch perform and so funny! One of my all time favorite live shows. Thanks for helping more people learn about this amazing guy Chris! And welcome back! Hope you’re feeling better!
I love that you introduce others to the Amazing Jonathan. I was fortunate enough to watch him when I was younger and able to see him live. Phenomenal.
I got to see him in Vegas and he actually brought my dad on stage. Funniest shit ever!!!!
I also saw him in Vegas... Funny stuff!
Glad to have you back chris hope your feeling better
My favorite bit from the Amazing Johnathan is when he does speed through a straw insanely fast lol. Also i still use his joke 'the hampster's dead but the wheel keeps turning' whenever I see someone dumb operating something. Classic!
I'm Australian, the opening act and many more, were on the Saturday night show, Melbourne/Sydney of Hey Hey it's Saturday. Darryl Somers, Background comments John Blackman. The Amazing Johnathan was BIGTIME over here. Thanks so much Chris, for doing this.
I grew up loving The Amazing Johnathan! My favorite of his is when he drinks Windex and says that when he runs around naked, it prevents him from streaking. Gets me every time!
Mine was when he rips up the money from the audience member and puts it back together with tape.
Didn't he also cut his tongue off?
"Magic sounds like tape" love that part of his act
Thank you for this, The Amazing Johnathan is one of my all time favorite comedians/magicians. Needed that laugh
I remember watching this as a kid, I remember it fondly
Thanks for bringing this back to light he was amazing
Chris thank you for uploading you always make my day better, I always get this vibe when watching that I don’t get watching anyone else and it makes me want to do something and be productive
Simply thank you🙌🙌
was there a single magic trick? all I saw was I guy getting messed with and robbed on stage
😂😂 he does magic stuff usually. I think the magic was robbing this guy in plain sight and no one said a word 😂
Watch 8:57, he wasn't actually robbed
I see a performer on top of his game you humourless dick.
@@Rudydog65, ғuňţċѧsє ţuċҡғѧяԀ, he is a comedic magician who didn't do magic.. there are many comedic magicians who are much funnier, and also do amazing magic...

Omg! I’ve loved the Amazing Johnathan for years, but I haven’t seen him in such a long time. I love him so much. Great video and reminder of the funniest magician ever.
Well that was a tear-jerker (the documentary). Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I remember watching him in his prime and always loving it. He's truly amazing.
Keep it up, Bud!!! An inspiration, as always!
"Did you ever blow bubbles as a kid?"
"Yeah."
"Well, he's back."
I watched him on Comedy Central every time he was on. I love magic. But to add comedy? That is a guarantee to keep me watching.
I always remembered/repeated that joke for YEARS not remembering where I heard it as a kid. Then I rediscovered The Amazing Johnathan and it was a mind-blower. One of the greatest entertainers of all time.
Thank you for pointing me towards that documentary. I had watched some by him in the past...but to see all of that. Amazing.
Another great comedy magician is Harry Anderson.
Yes he was! loved when he did tricks on night court!
I discovered john like 7 yrs ago and was incredibly stoked about the "doc" when i saw it pop up
My first time seeing him was on Lounge Lizards, and I still love that performance. Though I like the stuff he did with Madam Isabella, Queen of the Night in later shows
I deff remember him from lounge lizards. this is bringing back all kinds of memories of how weird growing up in the 90s was lol.
Love the Amazing Johnathan! I knew what he was doing with his tricks then, kind of. But seeing them years later with some more understanding, and a pro discussing it, makes it that much better.
Chris thanks for the heads up on that documentary, just watched it, really enjoyed it. I remember watching him throughout my childhood, great man!
Every Saturday my family would all sit down to watch this show. It was called "Hey Hey, It's Saturday!" Great memories
I was finally able to watch a video as it was uploaded
Sooooooo cool to see you doing a video on The Amazing Johnathan. I'm in my mid-thirties and he was one of the major inspirations for me ever wanting to learn magic at all, especially because, as a young'n, I was in love with comedy and magic, so he epitomized what I wish I could grow up to be, even though I know I could never be as brilliantly belligerent as that guy, haha.
Thank you for doing this video. I always loved watching Johnathan in the 80’s and 90’s. I guess I sort of forgot about him at some point, but that documentary was awesome.
298 subs till 3mill and I remember when u where at 200k congratulations dude
Cay PrimeOMEGALUL 114 till 3 million.
3 MILLION!!!!!
The Hound less sgggggoooo
I am here since 36 subs! Not 36k, I mean just 36!
First time I saw him was his special on comedy central “Lounge Lizards”. He’s hilarious! 😂😂😂
Dude, it's SO funny that you just posted this. I have been a huge fan of this man since I was a kid. I was just asking a friend who's into magic and comedy if he'd ever heard of Johnathon. When he said that he hadn't, I said DON'T Google him! He's coming over tonight and I wanted him to see it first with me. Unfortunately, he subscribes to your channel, (well, not unfortunately, you know what I mean), and you may have beaten me to the punch.
Thank you for raising awareness of this incredible comedian (Hah! Didn't say amazing!) who never achieved the fame or notoriety that he deserves.
Peace and love.
his comedy central special is one of the greatest shows I've ever seen to this day. I love that you introduced others to him with this video :D
Yay!!! Day off. Coffee. New video from Chris 😁😁😁 great start to my day
Hey hey its Saturday ran for many years here in Australia one of the co hosts was an ostrich called Ozzie
the best variety show on the planet.
Remember Jackie Macdonald, Dickie Knee and Red Simons!
laurie9300 and Jeannie Little a very unique lady
I grew up watching The Amazing Jonathan. My favorite routine of his is his version of the restored bill.... I also love it when he drinks windex to "prevent streaking". He is truly a legend in the Magic World.
Love this dude ,funny stuff . Has a newer version of this and its hilarious . And thanks Chris for the puzzle and reveal /How to videos ,gives me content 2watch at work on slow days and lunch .
"Sometimes magic sounds an awful lot like duct tape..." favorite quote.
The jar full of lighters gag.. the eye poppin'.. he started the joke of drinking cleaning products... I began not caring so much if I screw up a performance trick because of him. If the intention is comedy just own it like a pro.
Been watching him for ever. Loved his assistant Tonya
Growing up in Australia during the 80s and 90s Hey Hey It's Saturday was the most popular variety show on Australian television for decades. All big international acts made appearances. I cannot recall this particular episode but so happy to experience it again on this channel. 🤩👍
Damn, The Amazing Jonathan! I loved him growing up. He was so good and smooth even when he messed up. He made his oopsies into funny stuff. Dude was a master comedy magician.
If this was an example ... i really don't get it.
It had no magic, and it certainly wasn't very fun.
Did the guy get his money back 😂
Nop
Yes, because life doesn't just happen when the cameras are rolling. Taking the 50 is a joke. If he kept it that would be stealing. Then it wouldn't be a joke. Surreal that is the most common comment on this video.
Look at 8 57 he slips it in his front pocket
yes he got his money back, he slips in it his pocket when the lights go out
Yeah watch 8:57
Seen this a few weeks ago, it was awesome. Great performer, great documentary. Appreciate you giving him some love. Cheers.
Dear Chris You are my hero on Magic and Cardistry you are the reason i am in to it you inspire me every time I watch you videos
I loved his comedy special! He did this bit where he ripped someone's bill and wrapped it in duct tape. It was hilarious.
"Sometimes magic sounds like tape!"
3 Million and we are just getting started!! Thanks for keeping us inspired
The Amazing Jonathan was my favorite magician as a kid. So great! I think my favorite joke is the drinking windex & favorite trick is the arm cutting.
AJ is a legend, big thanks for doing a video on him. 🤙 first seen his special on comedy central like 15-20 years ago, been a fan ever since.
This takes me back! Hey Hey was quality Australian tv.
Was definitely one of my favorite shows growing up
In my experience, there's no such thing as shitty Aussie TV.
I'm Canadian, and I could easily spend hours just watching the news...the way Aussies maneuver their way around language is fascinating.
Sometimes I have the nerve to think Canadians are world leaders in witty insulting banter and/or use of slang, but then I catch myself.
Australia is untouchable in those categories. 🥰
GOAT
♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Omgoodness This is awesome! I needed to see this today!
Thanks for letting me know about the documentary. Fascinating life.
Cheers
If you're taking about comedy magicians, then you gotta pay tribute to the late, great Tommy Cooper. True legend.
Would love to see you 'react' to him
I have to say Tommy Cooper is incredible and actually has a lot more magic content.
He did get his dallor back btw. The magician slid it in his front pocket quickly.
This had me rolling!! Congrats on the 3 million subs!
Nice to see you back and healthy man keep up the good work 😁
1996 was only 13 years ago. Shit. I am totally out of touch
Yeah, that math doesnt add up...
No it’s not
Good maths
That math tho
A year after I graduated from high school....but that was how long ago?!?!?!?? I'm too old to remember.
Yo Chris I just need to get this off of my head and I just wanna say how much of a serious inspiration you are to me and to everyone else thank you for everything that you have done and all the hard work you've gotten me through dippresed times and I just wanna say your the GOAT 🤙
omg goat! satanism reference! it's all true! lmao sorry I just spent way too long facepalming to those "magicians make pacts with demons" videos.
Man, the comedy of the guy swinging the cards above his head coupled with your reaction and explanation on behalf of cardists who owned one of those trick decks still has me chuckling days after watching the video, I had to come back and comment. It's still killing me. 👌
Came late but congrats on 3 MILLION and 27 subs! 🥳 i’ve been subbed to you for 2 years now and your videos never fail to impress me. You are literally a puzzle and magic god. ⭐️ Thanks and congrats again.
Amazing Johnathan onenof my favorites. His cocaine straw and window clear routine i cant help but die laughing
"Magic sometimes sounds like tape"
I remember sitting in my living room with a bowl of cereal watching this on tv as it was airing. I love him. Great to see it again.
love it, thanks for this, I see it a whole different way now
One of my more recent fav comedy magicians is Piff the Magic Dragon (John van der Put)
Hilarious for other people. But for this poor guy. Damn
Saw AJ live and never laughed so much ever. He hung out forever autographing stuff and just cracking jokes with people after. Really a down to earth guy.
We all love you Chris and your a huge inspiration to me and evolving my cardisrty and magic❤️
I checked my back pocket and I found the 50 in there XD
Ah, I had a good laugh watching this! Especially at 6:40 I just Died
Chriss, Thank you for introducing me to the amazing Jonathan. I watched the documentary you suggested, what a man he is.
I am so pleased you paid homage to The Amazing Johnathan. I discovered him a while back, have watched everything there is to see on him and have not stopped laughing...he is brilliant. His health aint too great due to years of amphetamine use, but he started performing again not long ago and thankfully is being recognised and honored by his peers for his hilarious contribution to magic and comedy. You are a star for shining a light on The Amazing Johnathan Chris, you have introduced many new people to him....and he so deserves it......Peace.
Amazing Jonathan will really make you laugh out loud!!!! Shout to Amazing Jonathan for making my life more fun!😎🎩
Jonathan stole the guys 50 dollar LMAO!
@@extrinity hahahhaa yeah right. He has a lot of funny routines.
The Amazing Jonathan is the G.O.A.T! You should try and get and interview with him!
Congratz on 3 mil!!! 😁 U r an amazing inspiration and very funny!!! 😂
I haven't seen Amazing Jonathan in years!!!! He was on Comedy Central Presents a while ago, had this skit in it and a few other cards illusions that were amazing and funny AF!!!! Glad you brought him back to my attention Chris :)
It's 'genius', not 'genious', spelling correction aside, great old-school video.
Did the guy get his fifty back? I missed it if he did.
Chris: "They all have the same haircut"
Bald guy: :-(
That performer starting laughing as he picked up the horns. Awesome stuff Chris
Got to see him several times in the 80's and 90's...love that guy!
Not my cup of tea, but watching Ramsay crack up is the best yet also the cutest thing? 🙈😆
whats up with your clock? the steel ball isnt going around?
Good eye! Just fixed, thanks
You deserve every single sub dude, you seem like such a great person and it's fantastic to watch you perform stay blessed from the u.k
I've seen his performances a million times and they still crack me up. Greatness
Who clicked fast at.
Lol
He has always been my favorite comedian/magician. A true master of his craft. The documentary is very good. Really enjoyed learning about what he went through. It's sad to see him old and broken down.
I spoke with Jonathan over the summer and he told me there are actually 2 documentaries. Always Amazing is on CZcams, but his other one, "The Amazing Jonathan Documentary" is on Hulu. My favorite bit, or at least the one that sticks out the most in my mind is from his Comedy Central Presents special where he makes a dove appear in his hand, then immediately smashes it. The shock from the audience is priceless.
Got to see Amazing Johnathan live in Vegas years ago and meet him and Psychic Tonya. Great show. Can't wait to see the new documentary about him.
