- we are so thankful for our twin boys but it cost us a LOT of money to conceive them. We've never calculated exactly how much we spent on fertility treatments as a same sex couple in canada... turns out we spent $50,464(ish)
IUI, donor sperm, IVF, at home inseminations, embryo transfers... our fertility journey was a lot!!!

It's the one thing that makes me sad about being gay in a way. I want babies so badly and knowing I'll probably struggle and it's gonna cost me a lot makes me very anxious. I think for the longest time I didn't want to admit I was a lesbian and instead said I was bi because the thought of having to struggle was a lot. I was praying to fall in love with a man and have a baby naturally (which of course isn't guaranteed then too).

Isn't it incredible some people can have babies for free?! Nuts eh?! Even with IVF funding in Ontario, we've spent probably $10k so far and we're still doing transfers.
The money is the only reason why my wife and I are choosing not to move forward with IUI/IVF. The cost is astronomical. We are giving ourselves one more year of trying for each of us, and if it doesn't happen, we will come to terms with being unable to grow our family. We are lucky to have an amazing in person donor close by for at home insemination, but even that winds up around $600 per try to stay in his area for the whole fertile window/peak. Your boys are precious, and I love watching your family life unfold 😊

My wife and I adopted our two babies from foster care. The state of CA pays fost-adopt parents every month until the children reach 18 years old. It’s the opposite of costly infertility treatments and procedures. I hope that you might have something similar where you are. Consider adoption to grow your family. So so many babies/kids already need forever homes and parents.
@Cullenore Adopting isn't an option for us unfortunately. We have both had horrible experiences with fostering/adoption/lying in the process and don't believe we could effectively move past it.

In Germany, it is also very expensive. If you are married, health care covers 50 percent of the costs for the first three IVF trials.

We used a known donor and did an at home insemination using “Mosie Baby” with both of our kids. In total for both kids I believe we spent around $6k

It’s so crazy how much people have to pay to start their family!! My niece also had to do IVF and it was a lot. They have a beautiful little girl🥰
Is the medication for ivf covered by any group benefits/do you get benefits as freelancers?

It really isn't fair to charge anyone that kind of money to have a child. We did infertility treatments many years ago and then had to pay 45000.00 bucks to adopt my youngest son.

Goodness gracious I knew it was expensive for the entire journey but I didn’t realize how much a vial of sperm is 😮 if anyone needs sperm, I have a husband and we will cut you a good deal 😂 j/k….. maybe, maybe not though lol I am so glad I found your channel 2-3 years ago, even though I am a heterosexual woman and have not had to go through ivf or anything similar I still love watching your channel and feel so happy you have your family ❤

My son and his wife also had to pay $40000 for my grandson and they have the highest private health insurance you can have but we're not covered for infitility just wrong so wrong
