    We put a deposit on a yellow one this past weekend - delivery in about 6 weeks. We pulled shots from various similar priced, higher-end espresso machines (ECM, Rocket, Lelit and Profitec) at the same boutique, using the same water (not plumbed), beans, grind size/quantity and 2:1 ratio, and there was just no comparison. The Micra was superior in taste, aroma, structure and complexity and its crema was simply incredible and it appears that flow control is an unnecessary feature when the quality of the machine itself is this high. It is beautifully designed and constructed and it's size is perfect for our kitchen. The higher cost of the Micra was money very well spent.

    Well I bought one before watching lol. Received a couple weeks ago along with a Plumb in kit. Awesome machine. Upgraded from an Expobar Office Leva E61 and this thing is an absolute monster compared performance wise. Much smaller but really awesome. My only complaint honestly is the app sometimes it connect sometimes it doesn’t but honestly forgivable. I wish I had a bit more space aswell for a larger cup and scale configuration but tbh after making coffee a lot you get into your zone. The Steam on this is incredible. The curve never bothered me once you get used to it. I’m in love with it. Great video talking about many things. This user highly recommends.
    I thought I would really miss features like flow control etc etc but honestly having messed with all that for years I’d rather enjoy great repeatable coffee easily than tinker with trying to find all possible flavor variations within a coffee. I prefer to leave the delicious lighter roasts to pour overs than have something be almost impossible to repeat. This thing makes awesome coffee that’s repeatable and honestly easy.

    • @nittygritty7434
      @nittygritty7434 Před 10 měsíci +4

      Been thinking about buying a Linea Micra for awhile now. Some have said it does well on light roast espresso if the brew pressure is lowered to 6 bar. Have you tried that method? Also it seems if plumb in to external container of water with accumulator and pump makes this almost perfect with addition to preinfuse so then only missing that flow-pressure profiling, but like you say challenge to repeat exactly the next shot let alone a day later. Also I can see how one can get lost in flow control like today I'll go 3 bar for 8 seconds then straight to 9 bar and next I'll go straight to 8-9 bar for 15 seconds then ramp down and finish at 4-5 bar and never really decide what's "best". Think someone said something like flow control is for exploring every aspect of a particular bean-roast while the Micra is about exploring various coffees easily that's repeatable, as well is very forgiving. By chance what grinder do you use? If something 'mid-range' like a DF64, Eureka Oro, Specialita, Niche Zero do you think that pairs well with the Micra or if more expensive like Atom 75 does the Micra bring out even more consistency and deeper flavors than with the E61? Regards,

      @@nittygritty7434 I have a DF83 with SSP HU burr, and an 1zpresso K Ultra hand grinder(for Pour overs mostly Although have ground some incredible espresso on it) I haven’t tried that yet but to be honest Light Roast Espresso might just not be to my palette as I’ve in very many years trying in a whole lot of places not truly loved the results. I’m speaking more Nordic style light roast. Many lighter medium roasts I’ve very much enjoyed and a Coffee Company like Passenger out of Lancaster I’ve had great shot results with.
      The DF83 with the Micra is hands down better coffee’s. I really enjoy cappuccinos and this thing same grinder same coffee as on the E61 I instantly thought wow that is so much better. And repeatable

      I am now a proud owner of a Micra and I absolutely love it. The main thing for me is the horse power difference, it’s a small and fully operational battle station. It took me a few weeks to get used to it with the steam wand as coming from a Sage dual boiler there is a notable difference. Having now used it for a couple of months I absolutely love it, it’s quick, quiet (the rotary pump so quiet to what I was used to) very robust and generally just a nice experience to use. I feel very blessed to have it.

    FYI, something about the steam wand I didn’t understand when I got mine and most other people don’t seem to realize: you can obviously pull it forward like in this video for steaming in small milk pitchers like the one it ships with. But you can also pull it to the side and kinda reverse it to fit deeper in large pitchers. Seems obvious once you do it but surprisingly not obvious at all. Also, the app has terrible reviews but I have no idea what people are on about.. mine works flawlessly and hasn’t glitched once.

    • @JimmyTulip1
      @JimmyTulip1 Před 2 měsíci

      The app is ok-ish, but it sucks in many ways. There is a status screen that shows you the temp - but not the actual temp, just the destination temp that is set. To change it, you have to switch to a different screen - why?? To switch on the steam boiler you need to go to the status screen?! But to change the steam heat, you have to go yet again to another screen - wtaf? All in all it just barely does what it has do, but it looks and feels like it has been made by some absolute beginner who just made his first working app. Not quite up to the standards of the machine itself.

    I've been reading on the Apple site that the overwhelming response to the app (essential to full operation) is that it's total rubbish. Buggy and requires constant reconnections. Let's face it, 1.8 stars isn't great. I also read that pre-infusion is only available if you plumb it in vs the reservoir. Are they addressing this?

    • @JimmyTulip1
      @JimmyTulip1 Před 2 měsíci

      I have the app. It's not as bad as that, but it kinda sucks. But it does the job it needs to do. I never had connection issues. Works locally and remotely. You can set temp, steam, watch a few statistics, and that works. But it looks like the work of a beginner tbh. And yes real preinfusion is only possible by plumbing, because it needs the line pressure for that not the pump pressure. There is however an option to do a fake preinfusion by pump. It works. I doubt you will need that though.

    Great and informative video! It's a really nice unit that I'd love to buy but the price point is really really high at 6208 with taxes, for a home machine. I think the mini is better priced since it's meant to go in a low-mid volume coffee shop and the money can be made back within the first year as well as being a tax deductible expense, effectively making it only a $1200 difference between the two. I wonder how well it will do in our market considering the current economic climate.

      I think the most annoying thing is that it's not a direct connection to the device (espresso machine). It connects to their cloud etc. so if their cloud goes down or one of their dependencies does, you can't use the mobile app. Furthermore, if there is any issue with the app, or it gets pulled from the store, again, no settings can be changed. It would just be nice to have some sort of backup, but by any means. Direct connection for instance, the espresso machine host a basic web server either over WiFi or even with a cable.
