    Joey, I really enjoy channel and learning ideas. My dad passed away 3 yrs ago and now I have his Farmall 140 with all the attachments and love gardening with it. I live in Lumberton and keep doing what you are doing and don't change a thing. Take care my friend.

      Hey Kevin
      Sorry about your Dad. Enjoy that 140. Thank You for watching.

  • @kayclaydancesupply1933

    Thanks for the nice video on planting . Also, your son does a great job on the camera. Being a city slicker all my life, I never got a chance to see how planting was done. My family history is rooted in many generations of farming with my father telling me stories of planting with a team of mules. Near the end of the day he would have to fight them from heading to the barn instead of doing another row. That 140 tractor you have and the implements is quite a setup. Watching you videos makes me want to buy some farm and tractor. Thanks again for sharing your farming with everyone.

    I've never seen your videos before... I used to work for Burch Manufacturing, otherwise known as MS/Burch. The company had a long history of building disk-harrows, planters, planter tool bars, and so forth. I was hoping, when I saw the title of your video, I might get to see one of their planters in action. While I was there and after I moved into the design area, I had the opportunity to work up a design for a new fertilizer dispenser. We sold the first one to a fellow down south somewhere. I was in the office one Saturday, just to clean up a project I was working on, and the phone rang. I answered the phone and it turn out to be the guy who bought that new dispenser. He asked if I was involved in designing it, and afraid he was calling to complain about it, I told him I was. He then told me he was a retired engineer from NASA and he was thoroughly amazed by the simplicity of the dispenser and how well it worked. That was the first time I had ever heard a customer praise anything I had a hand in building. I enjoyed watching you plant with the IH, however, even though it wasn't a Burch!

      Hey Ronald
      Thanks for watching. I don’t think folks can really appreciate what it took to design when your were doing it. No computer aid all mathematical. Wish I had a Burch planter I would try it for sure.

    • @OleNavy
      @OleNavy Před rokem +1

      @@Jtwes I started working at Burch in 2006. Hired in as a welder. Over time I got involve in the machine shop, then managed it. CNC programming, tool and die repair and so on. After more time, I became involved in design. I worked with SolidWorks from scratch. I was trained in AutoCAD só the transition wasn’t too hard. I haven’t seen Jim Burch in a while so I’m not sure what they are doing these days. So, I did use computer aided design. Old dogs can learn new tricks!!! Best luck with your channel!

    At the farmers market I found the old timer planting field peas and okra like his regular happy go lucky thing to do.. I'm on crutches for chasing deer..he said he sprinkles blood meal around the perimeter... And then on some mystical note... The fawn I was shouting war chants at giving Chase on a motorbike... Is now visiting me and I hanging out within like 5 ft ... Seems like the war is over and I'm feeding it corn now to fatten it up so it doesn't destroy everything... God works in mysterious ways... I'm only getting a nibble here in a nibble there now

    Great video Joey, thanks for showing the plates for each seed size. Looks like the soil worked up great. You planted a lot in a short amount of time. I'm still amazed at the difference in planting times from central Texas to where you live. Hope you get some good rains now. Hit 90 degrees here today and you are right, it's time to plant okra, usually plant mine an inch deep. I plant everything in the garden an inch deep. You have a great outlook, attitude and family. Lima beans are my favorite thing out of the garden! We call them butterbeans, and man are they good! Also for the corn in the bean row some people plant corn field peas and corn together because beans create nitrogen in the soil for the corn, and corn field peas climb up on the corn stalks.

    • @Jtwes

    Brother these type videos are what people are going to be looking for in the very near future when food prices began to triple. As long as you're faithful and follow the Lord and are not ashamed of him you will face percussion but the blessing will out weigh it. I'm a fan just saying.

    Thanks Joey and family! I always had trouble getting okra to sprout. I told my grandmother about it 40 years ago and she suggested keeping new seeds in the freezer for 2-3 days before planting. She said the seeds were so hard that the cold helped crack them and allow moisture in to germinate the seed. I need to get busy on the IH Duplex planter I got a couple of months ago. I also got an A 178 or A 180 sword that is a belly mount for it. Hope I can figure it all out and get it working again. The IH Duplex is pretty rough.
