Miraculously, everyone on JL516 survived and only the captain of the CG plane got lucky. Hope the best for him and thoughts and prayers to the lost five souls on board the latter.

Edit: Who would've thought history repeats itself? Now a Coast Guard Dash 8 crushed by a 119,5 ton A350 widebody. Miraculously, everyone on the latter plane survived, while the captain is the sole survivor of the former. Now i feel bad for the other five CG crew that perished on that day...

true, an incoming aircraft collided with an smaller aircraft on the runway very shortly after landing. It happened at a large airport. The large one was set on fire but there were still survivors the wreckage was intact in some places but there was a lot of damage dealt to the top

In 1991, a sky west metroliner preparing to take off from Los Angeles, was crushed by UsAir 737. Attempting to land on the same runway. 34 people were killed.

The skywest plane lights were off, they had no chance of seeing it.
Investigators retraced the flight path of the USair plane by using a helicopter and had another metroliner sit on the runway. What they found is that the lights on a metroliner were the same color as the lights on the runway. The USair crew could not differentiate airplane lights from runway lights, so they continued to land on the runway believing that it was clear but it was not until the nose touched down that they actually saw the other plane
