  • DON'T DO THIS AT HOME!
    I wouldn't suggest running the vehicle like this for obvious reasons, the clearance at the control arm, the loss in travel in the control arm, the possibility of sheering off the shock while driving etc.
    this was purely to get an idea of the drop and subsequent look of the car.
    This car has the same frame as any other 49-54 Chevy 210 150 or Bel-Air.
    I'll be researching alternative springs, coilovers and air bags that can replace the factory parts. Now that the lower mount can be taken off using bolts, the replacement of suspension components will be much easier.
    take care and be safe out there👍

    I put spacers on the lower control arms with my '54 chevy I used to have. It worked great for years and rode exactly the same as it did stock as opposed to cutting coil springs. It's exactly the same as steping the control arms but way quicker and easier. Everybody's already said this but if those rivets would've let go without that bottom plate being supported you would've been fucked lol

    • @jp.lagrange
      @jp.lagrange  Před rokem

      Yeah it seemed sketchy with the spacer being as large as it was, it sat way below the front scrub line. It's all back to normal now and the springs are cut.

      OK great, better solution. It is good to see that younger people are still interested in old cars. I got a 49 Pontiac streamliner, I put a Jaguar front clip under it, not an easy solution due to the location of the springtowers.
