  • Stihl 024 AV would not start. The carb probably needed new gaskets, or the impulse line had a small hole/crack. I replaced both. This fixed the starting issue and the chainsaw now works great!

i know this is a year old vid but i cant help sending you a suggestion or 2. first the fuel line is in backwards second there are 2 ways to take that throttle linkage out, the easiest is to take the one screw out of the back of the handle and taking it off, the other is to roll the throttle lever down and use a small screw driver to drop the linkage off the arm in a down ward motion.

The 024/026 doesn't call for a intake or carburetor gasket. It probably won't hurt but it's not necessary.

Take the screw out of the bottom of the handle remove the black cover, disconnect the linkage at the handle end and you don't have to wrestle with the linkage.

Your fuel line is backwards. The part you have hooked to the carb should be inside the tank.

Your fuel line is installed upside down. The "s" bend goes in the tank.

Geez! Take a look at that air filter! Most of the flocking's gone! Seen that before where someone took a wire brush to it thinking it was dirty. If you use that it'll ingest dirt!

When removing throttle linkage. Open throttle then put a screw driver into and under the butterfly to hold it open then release the throttle and it will fall off!

It would have just been easier to take the saw apart.then you can go in and clean your saw up and check other things as well but I noticed on your video you didn't show that you hooked up the in pulse line in the back you threw it all together and I watched the video twice.

Should be felt on the air cleaner looks like someone scraped it all off with a wire brush

Yeah that air filter is shot. I guess it will keep a log from getting sucked into the carb.

It's like watching a gorilla do open heart surgery! Just take the cover off, it only takes 30 seconds.

Why did you replace the impulse line? I have a 042 But I just put a carb kit in and fuel is leaking out from somewhere and making the saw stall and flood could this be why or is it most likely maybe the needle and seat?
