    Not sure Royal Caribbean would have approved, but I'm glad you recorded it. I've really wanted to know what it was like "downstairs" and this video gave me some good insight!

    • @TimAlcoser
      @TimAlcoser Před 8 lety

      That is what I mean. For example, you can do behind the scenes tours of crew areas on a lot of ships, but they don't let you bring cameras of any type for security reasons. They'll screen you with security to ensure compliance.

    Allure has actually managed to respect their crew with these accommodations. If these quarters had been available in the 80's I would have been a Chef or Sous Chef on board in a heartbeat.Instead, I became a "land" chef where the living was much finer

    no window but still very nice single room.
    They do sell no window rooms to passengers so the crew are
    getting the same thing but not as fancy but still nice place to
    sleep. I hear crew work very long hours and have 6 day work
    weeks so you work very hard for your money and room. I
    heard most crew send all their money home to their family
    in most cases.

      Margaret Cabral If you work on the bridge you never get a day off, and usually its 4 hours work, 8 hours rest, 4 hours work and 8 hours rest again. Then there often comes overtime. The longest shift ive had was 32 hours in a row on a general cargo vessel, mooring, sorting lashing equipment, cleaning the cargo hold, repairing a broken bulkhead, unmooring and keeping lookout. Back then I was but an apprentice so I didnt even get to collect that sweet ovetime and stevedore bonus, or any wage at all for that matter :p

    I noticed that your room has only 1 bed, you were a 2 strip officer I presume?
    Other videos of the Allure or the Oasis, always show 2 bunk beds.

      +supertamal2000 There is a second bed in there. The area on the wall is actually the bottom of the second bed that is folded in the "up" position.

      +hjpop All cabins on allure have that second bed in there in order to make the cabins easier to convert into double. I was an 2 strip officer on that time and yes, I had a single cabin.
