    Thinking about getting one of these boats for my channel, also. I have a kayak that is way too heavy to lift at my age. So, this is an option for me. Great content. Thanks for sharing your experience on the mods for the Bass Raider 10E NXT. Awesome!

    I noticed that you have the aftermarket 'Bulldog' rudder attached to your front trolling motor - that helps the Raider track a little better. I also put a kayak paddle with one blade, on an old trolling motor clamp on the REAR of the Raider, as a 'drop-down' rudder. It just swivels up for transport, and the boat tracks straight as an arrow now!

    Simple and cheap, the way to go. I, and others with the BR 10e do have problems with water intrusion between the deck and the hull, and I mean a LOT of water. If you don't, count your blessings. The only conceivable entry points should be the seam, but there is a rubber seal covering that. I sprayed Flex Seal around the seam/seal, and that did not good. The best solution is to install a screw in drain plug at the center rear of each pontoon and periodically drain the pontoons. In my experience, Pelican after sale support (I purchased mine new from Academy) rates a "D"; little or no interest in the problems I had with my BR 10e.

    • @LyellWalker
      @LyellWalker  Před rokem

      Agreed. About once or twice a year I will take everything off the boat, clean it, and then stand it on one end to empty out the water. If you ever have to carry this thing down to water, you'll want it as light as possible.

      The accessories I bought from Academy came with screws. If not, I’m sure an Ace hardware sells them. I did use some clear Marine sealant on any screws/holes near the water line. I don’t personally think it’s necessary on top of the boat (unless you don’t plan to cover it).

    Looks great, I’ve had mine for a few months now and had to drive down to the good old 🇺🇸 to find and purchase 1, even though they are made in 🇨🇦 they are just to hard to find anywhere…I’m having fun getting it ready for spring…just put a casting deck on it as I like all my wires hidden and put all my storage underneath.
    I’m a bit iffy on my plan of putting the transducer on my trolling motor for my garmin echomap sv plus a rudder on order.
    Does your transducer mount pass the bottom of the boat…To get active side view visuals?
    I don’t know if having a rudder and transducer on my trolling motor in the front will work out.

    • @carlperry5227
      @carlperry5227 Před 2 lety

      Hey Phil, there are videos of how to mount your transducers using a trolling motor mount. I used that method and it works great.

    • @LyellWalker
      @LyellWalker  Před 2 lety

      It goes deep enough for the side view. Haven't had any issues with the boat interfering. You can try different mounting positions or mock up an extension if you want it to go deeper.

    Nice job on the Pelican! I just got mine. I'm going to start slowly with the mod's. I have a question about the eye hooks that your whistle is attached to. I want to install the same and use a little strap to secure rods. Did you use self tapping screws? Do they snug down firmly? I guess that's a concern for attaching anything that requires holes. Thanks!

    • @LyellWalker
      @LyellWalker  Před 2 lety

      No need for self tap. They came with screws made for kayaks (which are are made with the same plastic as the 10e.) Also, it’s way above the water line so you really don’t even need sealant. Only time I’ve used sealant is when I put the scupper hole in the back (which I didn’t mention in the video). That’s almost a necessity given the design.

    • @hkesler1
      @hkesler1 Před 2 lety +1

      I have attached everything with SS screws and fasteners and silicone sealant. However, I used 1" plastic blocks with marine grade adhesive on ribbed floor prior to lying my 3/4" treated flooring. Avoid putting holes in the bottom of boat if possible unless it is a scupper drain. I also ran a 1" PCV plastic conduit the length of the boat with my forward lights and electronics wiring. Hidden and works great. Add a couple extra wires for later additions is a good idea.

    Wish I had used 1/2 inch plywood. Went with 11/32 inch to keep the weight down. Added glue down marine carpet. I get a little flex in the plywood floorboard. Kind of a spongy feel when standing up and moving around. Most likely caused by the thin plywood or because of wrapped carpet around the side edges on the bottom (causes it to sit up a bit along the edges). Was wondering if you get any flex or spongy feel when standing up? Did you fully carpet the plywood? Top, bottom, and edges. Would appreciate your input. Really enjoyed your video. Great mods on the PBR.

    I bought it brand new for $2,600 from a large Kayak shop. The biggest problem is I'm not able to stand up in it. That's why I decided I had to get Pond Prowler because they are very stable and I could stand and rest my lower back. Verygood video and setup.🙂🎣
