- Well, you know pain to take the tree out and now having to pay to put something in is never the fun part and finding out if I have sun or shade while it looks like I have more shade than sun, I was hoping for a little more sun to make it more of a floral garden, but it’s not in my favour so I’ll just go with the flow and do what I Got to do .

Hi Brooke! The second I saw the tree get moved out and you said it got shade. I'd put an oakleaf hydrangea in that spot. They can do well in all conditions and even in deep shade. Some can get large and some can stay small. You get the beautiful leaves plus white long panicle flowers that age to a deep pink or red (depending on the variety think Rubby Slippers) and then the Fall color on the leaves is amazing.

Iam not a gardener,at all..but I bought Laurels...for my patio for privacy..they grow so fast&can be cut down to what ever size you desire...strong hedging plants..love em,,keeps me private.❤

@@mamabrooke I think laurels will grow&thrive,,absolutely anywhere mama Brooke.. there a very hardy,versatile hedging plant..I'm in the uk&there used alot,,in different places..hardly need looking after,just trimmed as mine about 6ft at the minute,,&it says you can trim them before the cold spell ready for nxt Yr...they are such a great plant.🫶

Hi Brooke !! The Boxwood plants down the sidewalk will look great they are definitely one of my favorite plants !! until they get fugus bummer ,disappointing when plants go bad ! The pink cushions really love the pop in color !! YES to cooking , just something relaxing about watching someone putting a meal together that looks wonderful ! Stay cool friend! Paula p.s. I knew an elderly man that volunteered at the Rose garden and he would be able to bring home roses to plant that were going to be throwing away !

For the place in your yard where the tree was, maybe you could get a black wrought iron divider (like the one in Home Sense), and you could put a climbing vine on it.

OMG I am OBSESSED with your front porch with the pink it is absolutely divine! Mama Brooke did you ever think of putting a solar lamp post in your empty space? It would give you some height, light and you can plant a vine around it.

Well, I put a solar light and it works sometimes and not other this. There’s only maybe two hours of light in that corner that tree really canopies it so it’s hard to have the solar, but I love the look.

The garden is looking really nice. I've given up planting impatiens in the ground. I plant in pots and cut a bit of chicken wire to encircle the edge of the pot. If the top edge is cut it creates a jagged edge, and keeps them away. Little buggers.

The downstairs garden is very zen like, but that treehouse garden is just magnificent! I love it! Be careful if you put a willow out front. Their roots like to seek water and if you have pipes, sewer, water, septic, they’ll infiltrate the lines. Trees more so than a shrub but still. It’s not a weeping willow so it wouldn’t really affect it, but I can’t do it anyways cause I don’t get enough sun, but I do understand what you’re saying. It’s called the dappled willow. I investigated it. I think I’m gonna go with the shade hydrangea maybe some hostas it’s very shaded. I’ve been watching it for two weeks now , I get very dappled sun and maybe sun for two hours so it’s a little bit of a challenge but it’s all good. I can take it. Have a beautiful day. The garden is looking fab! Yes collect those seeds. I grew a burgundy columbine from seeds from my moms garden. The flowers look like mini dahlias dangling on tall stems. Lots of seed heads. I think people just aren’t buying extras like plants this year. Bring on perennial and shrub clearance! I cut back by 75% less than last year. I bought from a local gal instead of big box. She has very nice plants but I just don’t have much garden time this year. Very cute pink on the chairs. Great! ❤ you might like Sweet William semi annual. I tossed old seeds into the beds under my cherry tree last fall. To my shock they came up and the area is semi shade. They turned out very pretty with no care and should reseed. 🤞🏻😊. Amazing the annuals are not clearanced yet. Wow. I like a little cooking at the end mostly but I just like watching your videos anyway so you do you girl! 😉

My new favorite new plant is the coral bells. I bought them cheap last year and they popped back up this year. Burgundy with a silver leaf center with with pink small shoots. Very durable . Reasonably price . Might be nice to blend in with your greenery.

I was just thinking as I watched "Boxwoods"!! Then you said you thought boxwoods. I agree. I would not transplant that yellow rose into the container with the 2 boxwoods. Take the geranium out and add another boxwood. To me it would flow better especially if you continue with the boxwoods on the ground. The color would come in if you stopped with the ferns in the front for a change and plant flowers in those containers flanking the steps.
I’m not adding another box but I like the pop colour cause I don’t have a lot of colour in my yard ,
it’s a shade garden. That’s the reason I have the geraniums there. I was going to do three in the beginning and I walked away from it because I want color, I’m looking right now and some shade hydrangeas. It’s very shady maybe two hours a day in the dappled sun so it’s definitely leading to be a little bit of a problem, but I got to the fall anyways or next spring. Let’s see what we do.🌸🍃🎀
