This was Mark's song he released in the late 90's. Mark has some beautiful songs and obvious great vocals. The girl who joins them in singing is Mark's daughter. Home Free adds so much depth with their harmonies. I love this rendition of the song. Great reaction! I'm not crying.. you're crying.. I'm not crying!

Always cry at this no matter how many times I watch it. If you cry at this video it means your heart is in the right place. Nat, the young man in the video, is the founder of "21 Pineapples", a non profit to combat bullying. Have purchased two of his "funky shirts" and love them. Your reaction was beautifully touching. God Bless.

I got bullied in elementary school and middle school by the same girl, for being chubby too. I got stitches on my foot once and was on crutches. Walking down the hall at school, she kicked the crutches out from under me and made me chip a tooth. Fast forward 10 years and she and I became good friends. I got to hear what she went through as a kid, and she was dealing with something WAY worse than the bullying she put me through. Two years after that, she passed away from a drug overdose. Now, 25 years later, and I'm an addiction counselor. I wish I would've known enough then to ask her... "what happened to you?". We always ask what's wrong with you...why are you being a bully. But a lot of times the bully is going through some stuff too that is causing that aggression. Just a thought. But you are right Sebs. Love will conquer all!

Thanks for your reaction! This song has a very powerful message to a very serious subject. Love that Home Free isn't afraid to tackle the issue of bullying. And I really appreciate that Home Free doesn't take the limelight away from the original artist & the message. Both of these young actors have Down Syndrome & they did an awesome job in their parts!

Seb, What an awesome message to start my day! I’ve been bullied most of my life. It started when I was in elementary school. I am now 58 years old and still experience some bullying and/or discrimination. When I was in rehab for my alcoholism, I wrote 3 poems…prior to writing those 3 poems, I’d NEVER written a poem or anything it like it.
    Why?
    Laughing, playing and running around.
So many friends and so much fun.
    Then, one day it happens…
    Fatty, fatty two by four.
Couldn't fit through the bathroom door.
Why? What did I do to you?
    Then, one day it happens…
Humpty Dumpty sat on the wall.
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.
Why? What did I do to you?
    Then, one day it happens…
    I'm pushed off my bike.
    I'm kicked and punched.
Why? What did I do to you?
I thought you were my friend.
I liked you, we shared good times.
    We laughed and played together.
Why? What did I do to you?
    I was your friend!!!
    Tina Johnston

One of three boys who bullied my when I was younger actually asked me to forgive him.
I worked at a grocery store while in high school. After graduation, I was working, and this guy who bullied me walked in, and I rang up his purchases, and he went on his way. He shortly there after came back and asked me if he could talk to me. He said that I had never done anything to him that would warrant what he had done to me. He then very sincerely Asked me to forgive him. I looked at him, and I said yes. I was 17 years old then and I’m now 58 years old. I’ve run into Minnie, Minnie times, and have been very nice. In addition, we graduated together and in September we just celebrated our 40th class reunion. Everything was awesome between us.

Enjoyed your heart felt and sincere reaction and sharing your experience. I'm 59 and I was bullied in school for being extremely poor from 5th grade until I dropped out of school beginning of 10th grade. I never fought back and everyone, friends included thought I was a coward. They didn't know the reason I didn't fight back was because my parents were elderly and it poor health so I didn't want to get into trouble for fighting and worry them. Like you I thought about thanking a former bully for telling me in front of the class that I'd never go anywhere or do anything. I've seen half of the U.S. and been to six other countries proving him wrong. Spent my life working law enforcement in the army, then as a civilian I worked security and then as a corrections officer in jails and prisons proving I'm no coward. God bless brother.

Wow. 😢yes I'm crying. At 8 I was diagnosed with pediatric asthma. 60 years ago the accepted treatment was steroids. I gained 50 pounds. I was so bullied that by the time I reached junior high I developed bulimia and suffered with that most if my life. If I had EVER seen or heard of my son or grandkids doing that crap there would have been hell to pay. One day when my son was in fifth grade I was called by the school about my son for fighting. He had been in a fight with an eighth grader and had blacked this kids eye. The reason, the guy hadbeen making fun of a younger kid that had a birth defect that caused him to have braces on both legs and crutches. I know violence is not the answer but when this wise ass's dad asked me what I thought about it I calmly replied, I've never been more proud of him and took him for ice cream!

I held my best friend by his throat again the wall at school for joking that he told his little brother to beat my little brother up and have smashed a kids head against the window on the school bus for picking on my little brother. He had problems with a joint in his hip that caused him to start school a year late because at the time he was supposed to start school he had both legs in casts with a bar between them

I had a bully when I was in jr. high all through high school. And yes, I went home & cried almost every day. My bully was very popular, so her lies were always believed. The pain lasted for decades. Than, at our 45th class reunion, she mentioned how another girl bullied her and how she went home crying every day. I told her she made me cry almost every day. She was shocked and honestly had no idea how badly her words hurt me. Then she hugged me and apologized profusely. I'm so happy that happened & my heart was healed. What a blessing. She passed away a few years later.

I was bullied for years because I was extra chubby. The thing was ... I was an athlete. In middle school, we had to ride our main bus to the high school, and then ride another bus to the middle school. The first day, nobody would let me sit with them (we were sharing a bus with the kids who normally rode that bus and those of us from my bus had to sit with them because there were no empty seats when we got on) ... except 2 8th-grade guys. They were actually really nice to me. We had a conversation and bonded over football. One of the guys was the quarterback and the other was a wide receiver. I was a quarterback for a season on a peewee team, but we moved, so I couldn't play anymore. However, every pick-up game of football we played at my house, I was the quarterback.
At lunch that day, the receiver was in my lunch. At recess, they were playing touch football. There were an odd number of boys, so the receiver hollered to me and asked me to play. Some of the guys weren't happy about it ... especially those 7th and 8th graders who didn't know me. The other 6th graders didn't have a problem with it because we had all gone to 5th grade together. Phill and another 8th grader picked teams. I was Phill's first pick. Our team won. :)
After that, I never had a problem finding a seat on the shuttle bus (other bullying, yes ... but never around my friends).

This song always gets me. The only time I was bullied, ironically enough, was when I went into private church school my Freshman and sophomore years of high school after my brother died. It was also the only time I was ever powerless to defend myself because I couldn’t defend myself the way I normally would…for my mom’s sake. She didn’t need to worry about me on top of her grief, so I held back and took it for her. Needless to say, it made an already difficult time even harder…and somehow I found mercy for them through my faith in God and self. Something I later came to recognize as something they struggled with and were jealous of me for. Thanks for playing this song. Can’t wait until you get to Martina McBride’s Love’s the Only House.

I have a younger sister that was born mentally and physically handicapped. I had to learn early in life about the stares and jokes. Fast forward…I had a son going to school. I taught him to NEVER make fun of anyone for how they looked or the way they dressed. His senior year in high school..the vice-principal calls me and says my son hit a boy in the cafeteria for repeatedly making fun of a new girl at school. The bully knocked her food tray to the floor before she could eat, etc. My son had tried talking to the bully but to no avail. So, I told the principal that I was proud of my son. Yes, he got a one day suspension; but no punishment at home. I’m not advocating violence…but sometimes the bully has to get a dose of their own medicine. Let’s teach our children to NOT be bullies. Bullying is not cool! If you have to make someone else feel small in order to make yourself feel bigger, YOU are the small one!

So good! Wow! I still have my Mark Wills CD with this same song on it that I bought when I was a teen, so I know it by heart. 💞 It always makes me feel so much compassion for people and what they’re going through whenever I heard it. Oh, my nostalgia! Seeing this video with Mark all these years later and the extraordinarily talented Home Free group and the whole anti bullying message portrayed through the arts here…it’s a masterpiece!✨Thank you for this. I will now go watch the original video and maybe discover more songs I like to give them some views and support by subbing.
Sebs, I like the fact that you pause the video and give us your thoughts as you’re processing your emotions and experience with the song. It’s interesting. If I ever see a reaction video where the person lets the song play all the way through then at the end basically says “I liked it” in a roundabout way, I make a mental note to not listen to that reactor again. That is not why I watch reactions. I can go to the source if I want to watch all the way through uninterrupted. You don’t ever need to apologize for hitting pause and talking about what you’re thinking. Or maybe you weren’t apologizing…maybe you were just educating your audience so people know what to expect from you. In that case…carry on. You’re doing a good job.😊⭐️

The thing about bullies, they look for something to mock, whether it's looks, weight, clothes, disability, or something else.
    Everyone can be a target.
    No one is safe.
Your smile or kind word may be the highlight of someone's day.
    It could save a life.
Be kind, include the shy ones, the 'odd' ones, the excluded for whatever reason.

That was an easy message, but as we grew up, encountered more people, it was made very clear. We will be judged by how we treat everyone, but with those precious souls here on Earth, you will be special judged. You treat everyone well, but especially God's special souls.

I know what bullying is. Not by children, but by the teachers.
I never told my family and thought I could handle it all. Now I am almost 60 years old, and only 3 years ago did I find out what bullying has determined my life.

As a special education kindergarten teacher this song breaks me every time. The other kiddos are so nice to my babies now but I always worry it won’t always be like that as they get older. I wish I could always be there to protect them and advocate for them.

I believe Mark Willis/Home Free won 6 Telly Awards for this collaboration because of the message. Respect to Mark and Home Free for doing this. Home Free has also done a collaboration with Billy Gilman, One Voice, for suicide prevention month. They are the only group I am aware of that does this kind of messaging and I love them for it! ❤

I had a bully in high school who attacked me because I am disabled. (One day, he apologized, he claims that he was scared of me being the first disabled that he ever knew.) Then I had a self-centered boss that when ever he got frustrated he take it out on me, and this was done daily because he knew that I really couldn't fight (physically) him back. Peter,Paul, and Mary did a cover of this song in their version they cover everybody.

Love conquers all! I always taught my children to be loving and kind and to absolutely NEVER treat anyone in an unkind way especially those with disabilities. Now I'm the grandmother of a beautiful 4 year old Autistic Granddaughter. I believe God created her special for our family because He knew we could handle it and love her unconditionally. Feeling very blessed!

It's such a great song, with an important message. Another touching emotional song of his is "Wish you were here." And for a little lighter song, "19 Somethin" is a fun coming of age reflection song. I would highly recommend reacting to both of these.

I have my dog with me almost everywhere I go. And while I seldom let people pet her I always make sure that if someone with a mental disability, no matter the age, will always be allowed to pet my dog. I even had one man, around 19 or so, give my dog a kiss on the head. These people are such loving people.
I have a great neice with Prader- willy syndrome. Basically they never fill full and don't know when to stop eating. So as you can imagine they are usually very overweight. Without treatment they can even eat their selves to death. Thank God my Great niece Kiara is in a treatment house that helps with this. She has lost a considerable amount of weight. Great going Kiki.

I have always loved this song and ot resonates so much for me. I was bullied pretty badly from 1st-6th grade (it stopped because we moved) Like crying on the way home almost daily. Being overweight and having undiagnosed ADHD and the last name Bacon i was a pretty easy target. Looking back i realize i disassociated in a way because I would look forward to going to school (I guess hoping it would be better) and I now remember very little from that time frame of my life.

I taught my kids to think about how people felt that had disabilities. Once my son and his Dad were waiting for hair cuts in a barber shop, and my son saw a man in a wheelchair coming, so he ran to hold the door so he could get in without struggling. It doesn't end here. Instead of going back to sit by Dad, he follows the guy to the counter, and then to where he parked his chair. He held his hand out to shake. They exchanged names.
Instead of staring, which most people do, my autistic son asks him, so why are you in a wheelchair?
The Man is easily the oldest one in the place. He tells the boy, got shot down in Vietnam. Then the conversation goes on and the boy asked if the man liked to fish? And the Man smoking Les and says I sure do, where do you fish? The boy tells him, mostly at the hot hole, you know where that is? The Man nods and tells the boy, going out tonight. So he turns to Dad and says Daddy can we go to. About a 3 year friendship happened. Then we moved and it got harder to get there and they lost contact. But that boy learned from the Man, many things.
@Popawheelie I do hope you meet more people like that little boy. My daughter has a similar story only hers was with a boy her age that had Cerebral Palsy. So instead of staring at him, she went and sat with her and his Mom. And she asked why he was in the chair and waited patiently as he struggled to tell her. They only met the one time but she enjoyed their meeting.
Once she broke the ice, it became so easy for her to approach others. She's 27 now, and still will make an effort to talk with people with disabilities. I home schooled them, so she wasn't bullied near as much as I was in school. Nor was her brother.
Thanks Seb for posting this song, what a great thing you did! Yeah it always makes me cry. Peace!

I was bullied all the way through school. I had ADHD and if I were a child now, I probably would also have been diagnosed as being on the spectrum. I taught myself to read when I was three and by third grade I was reading somewhere above the 12th grade level. I was an only child and I grew up talking to adults - like an adult. You can imagine how well I related to kids my age. And how tolerant they were of someone so different. 😔
I am in my fifties and I still have trouble trusting that anyone wants to be my friend because of how often kids at school would pretend to be my friend for a day to get ammo to tease me. I always feel like nobody really likes me and that they are laughing at me behind my back.
Bullying, especially the relational bullying common among girls, can destroy your ability to trust.

I was very shy which im not shy as an adult im very outgoing in my older years. I would like to add i was homeless for awhile and the story about homeless guy who lost his family then his mind happens more than you know.
