I've been wearing wetsuit/neoprene, forpac brand, knee pads for years and I love them, grew up on those blue and gray black strapped cheap ones forever. There's another company out of California that makes neoprene ones , to me they're the most comfortable. And after a while when they start to smell, you can cut like a 2-in incision in one of the bottom corners take the actual pad out throw everything in the washer and then let them air dry.
i use the Fento 400 Pro Ergonomic Professional Trade Flooring Knee Pads, they are close to the perfect knee pad for me, the Velcro straps don't last long so i replace them with Men Quick Release Buckle Military Trouser Belt Army Cobra Tactical Nylon Webbing
The best type of padding I've ever seen is resilite, but it's the brand name used for wrestling mats. I have that same pad, it's not as nice as the wrestling mat foam.

Ive tried snickers pants. Just being in the pant allowed the pad to always slide out of position. Didn’t like them.
It took some getting used to for us
