Hello Nick, love your content. I have a Question for you and all your geological community, Would you recommend a tape and compass survey instead of the mapping you show in your video?
I did some tape and compass mapping back before GPS was a thing. It was brutally slow and I spent more time looking at the compass than looking at rocks, but it was the only way to get reliable positions. Modern handheld GPS units generally have accuracy around 5m which is about the same as tape and compass but much faster and less prone to data entry errors. It's good enough for any exploration work. When you get to a development or mining stage you need 1m or better so it's time to switch to DGPS or traditional surveying.
My Nomads are old versions running Windows Mobile 6 operating system. Most of the new devices run Android. There is a new Android version of Discover Mobile, but you need a full paid license of MapInfo to install the workspaces that it uses. That is a very expensive option so I will probably move to something else when my old Nomads die.
@@arifrahmatullah487 I draw the interpreted geology polygons first, then I use the snap mode in MapInfo to draw the faults so they match all the geology boundaries precisely.

How were you able to get discover mobile onto your Nomad? I have a newer geo7x.

The data recorder is an old Trimble Nomad running Windows mobile 6. The modern ones all run Android now so you can use your phone.
