The sooner Africa, and particularly Kenya, focuses on streamlining trade within Africa and lessens its big brother dependency syndrome, the faster it will grow and create jobs for its people. As an example, 60 years of partnership and over 60% unemployment/underemployment rate, a paltry USD600M export under AGOA while Kenya is importing used clothes in volumes leaves a lot to be desired not to be celebrated.

Yes I can give a very logical explanation from business perspective why we will be wealthy if we focus on the Pan African market, compared to a focus heavily tilted to selling to big developed (western) markets. And actually if we don't, China, India, Turkey etc will gobble up markets we could have taken advantage of.

A good, incisive and elaborate interview that went straight into asking hard but straight questions of concern'; this interview was far much better than ile ingine ya 'show-off-slaying' tupu and without much content.
I may not like some of the American positions on Kenya and the way America operates in Kenya including meddling in our politics etc but you cant help but admire Amb.Meg Whitman for her attitude, demeanor, her firm grip and knowledge of what America stands for in Kenya and her diplomatic presentation of that position. She was however very cleverly tactful and evasive on the Corruption and Visas issue as expected.
Thumbs up to this Spice FM team of Eric Latif, CT and Ms.Ndu.

Totally disagree with you. We have had ambassadors who meddle with the internal affairs of Kenya, without helping Kenya at all. That is not diplomacy, that is the stuff that creates cold wars. Spoiling a country's peace in the name of "Human Rights Activism" is nothing, but a devilish agenda, masqueraded as 'Doing the public good". No moral authority, just people thinking they are demi-gods.

Great to hear Meg's perspective on Kenya- quite interesting. Folks, the mafia days in the US was no joke. Our corruption is nothing compared to the organized crimes of mafia. We can slay that dragon as the ambassador says. There's hope, guys. And guess what, the fixing starts with you, duh! Don't entertain corruption, it is a stigma and an evil thing to do. Don't we all know all too well the evils of corruption? This great country of ours has immense potential! And the sad part of it is that we don't even seem to realize that, and others have to constantly keep pointing it out to us! It's like a very bright student who deliberately performs poorly in school and has to be constantly prodded that they can do wonders.

@@jehbuhdieyaspringfield7290 When you weigh the extreme damages, deaths & atrocities caused by corruption, a few mistakes can be considered collateral damage. The benefits of such a severe deterrence are far much grander!!!
Problem with African thinking is that it is oftenly based on irrational emotions at the expense of prosperity & a vibrant society.
Do you know how many wrongful jail sentences & death rows have occurred in the US over time?
Corruption has literally choked every faucet of our lives & potential of our progress as a nation. In itself is a massacre let alone a death sentence on society.

It was refreshing to listening to the Ambassador coming from the private sector as opposed to the career diplomat .Her language is bussiness like hence free flowing.
A career diplomat language is hard with hidden meanings
It is true they have changed the way they interact with Kenya diplomatically. They have stopped there arrogant style and for good reasons.
Kibaki turned East to get big infrastructure projects and Uhuru followed.Kibaki managed to raise own revenue and we had a good economy without too much dependance on the West. The latter reliased they would lose the game and now are changing tact.

Almost certain there will be an attempt at grabbing agricultural land to allow only large scale ( read corporations) for food production. Kenyans need to wake up. Gates is in Eldoret twice a year.
