The Bucks fired their head coach while holding onto the 2-seed in the East. It wasn't a shock if you've watched the games and seen how miserable Giannis has been but now they've replaced him with Doc Rivers. This is a look at why they fired Adrian Griffin and why Giannis takes the blame. - Sport

Bud had to go. He would've been fired back in 2021 if not for winning that title. Plus, he was a terrible playoffs coach who didn't make needed adjustments when necessary. Even before the 2023 playoff exit, the writing was on the wall that the team needed a change. The problem is that AG was not the right choice and had lost the confidence of his team.

Crazy how the Bucks forced out Budenholzer all because they got ousted by a GREAT Heat team. Lets be honest they fked him over and pulled the ultimate scapegoat card. He was a top 5 coach for years. 70% win share coach over 5 years and back to back #1 defenses because he coached up the right schemes and player personnel. This is on Giannis and the front office forcing their hand and overrecating to that series loss.. absolutely unacceptable, you get what you deserve.

All I gotta say is Doc better at the very least call up Stotts to come back, Stotts literally helped grow Dame into all he did with the blazers with some crap rosters and would probably be the best person to assist Doc dial in a great offense utilizing the Dame/Giannis duo especially with a pick n roll that they haven’t done nearly enough so far this season. Stotts ain’t a head coach caliber coach but for sure would help a lot as an assistant.
Man stotts was a consultant there until preseason why wouldn’t they try and bring him back as the hc for at least the rest of the year
Stotts is a Xs & Ox guy, he'd be great as an offensive coordinator type of coach/assistant, Doc would be better as a head coach because Stotts has proved himself not to produce good Defenses. However, there's gotta be a better option out there than Doc Rivers, I don't trust him, he doesn't make good adjustments in the Playoffs. I think Dame & Giannis are good enough of a duo to win the chip but they need somebody who can improve their offensive efficacy and make there Defense serviceable at the least because the way it looks now, they're primed to have their season spoiled by the habitual season spoiling Miami Heat, come playoffs they're just waiting to exploit whatever weaknesses you have, and the Bucks have a glaring weakness.

Stotts and the Bucks are a complete joke. Fired coach Bud who is light years ahead of both Doc and Stotts for no real reason. Then fired Griffin when they are in 2nd place in the East. Stotts unlocking the offence isnt the issue, the issue is Dame is, was and always has been a pylon on defence. You traded your best guard defender for an older, slower, less athletic scorer who cant defend. Bucks need to fire the GM, been making questionable decisions for a couple years now. Hammond built this team and Horst is going to slowly destroy it. He also didnt deserve the executive of the year he won. Look at the magic now, slowly climbing the standings just like the Bucks did when Hammond took over basketball ops. Unless there are a ton of injuries in the playoffs, Bucks are a 2nd round exit.

It’s always puzzled me why the bucks didn’t pick up nick nurse. I think he was hands down the best coach of the bunch and prove too with a chip, and his family lives near there so he probably wanted to be with the bucks. No doubt they would have been head and shoulder better defensively with him and they might have actually lived up to the #1 contender championship predictions. Now I know Gannis didn’t choose him, the title is right, he really did do this to himself.

giannis messed up by approving hiring of Griffin and doing LeGM type moves. Bucks front office should never have fired Coach Bud over one bad playoff run to a very hot Heat team. I guarantee Giannis told front office he made a mistake and we need someone experience that can lead men. Doc is defiantly a great motivating coach but on my Celtics team of the past they had 3 self starting players (KG, PP, Rondo). Bucks just signing a Coach Giannis and the vets will respect and a Coach that will not have Diva like tendencies that Griffin had. I am not a fan of Joe Mazzula but can respect Brad stevens for not making any emotional decisions by overreacting to bad series.

Coach Bud might have been able to keep his job if he showed he knew how to call timeouts during the last year's playoff elimination game. He had his team basically dribble out the end of Q4 and overtime without taking a shot when he had timeouts remaining. It's not that he lost the series but how he lost it.

While terry wasn’t great in his last few years in Portland but he was a very good coach for us for most of the Damian lillard era. Making a guy with that sort of experience just leave on the spot shows very true colours of Griffin.

He was really bad in Playoff adjustment. And prime giannis, khris gave him more than 4 times to adjust. Sometimes it’s time to change and I am sure Bud is doing fine 😊

Should’ve went and got a better offensive coach like James Borrego who’s helping the pelicans this year and who is also a very solid defensive coach as well. He’s helped my Pelicans a lot this year.
I hated that Coach Bud was fired and that he lost his brother but I think Bud lost his edge because of the devastating loss of his brother. The timing of the firing was horrible but Bud hasn't coached any other team since and the NBA knows he's very qualified if Bud ever decides to make a return.
Doc rivers was available this summer. Why did they not sign him then and allow more time for him to integrate?

Defense is one part, then the entire roster besides Beasley do worse both defensively and offensively compared to last season. Think most people also expected Giannis to be in the DPOY discussion with Lillard running more of the offense but not even that has happened.
Firing Bud was a HUGE mistake. I said it then and I'll keep saying it. Dude is one of the best coaches in the league, he made them a contender, then he made them champions without an all-star studded team (Middleton isn't a real all-star, he's a great #2 or #3 guy and great at what he does, but not a bonafide all-star). So what, 2 years later he's suddenly not good enough?
When they fired Bud I was like ok, who's this great coach who's free and will do a better job? There are maybe 3-4 more coaches in the league at Bud's level and none of them were available.
This is what happens when the players start running the teams. Basketball IQ has dropped league-wide and coaches get fired only to make a statement and try and show their stars that they're doing something about the situation.

So this video at least broke down why Griffin was fired and I thank you for that since non Bucks fans do not understand. The Bucks win or lose were known for being a "boring" team because the lack of drama , Giannis signed a mini contract this year just so it wasn't a distraction. As said the Scott's stuff was a huge red flag and I wanted him fired then since it was clear it was out of ego. It is not fair to Griffin either since Going into the season they were going to "run it back" with the same core roster that had been together for awhile now. Losing Holiday and gaining Dame plus the other roster changes was going to be a lot to ask any first time head coach to win the finals.
I am fine with Doc Rivers , he is not my first choice but he is a better fit then people think. Right now they just need a head coach with exp. or an "adult in the room" . Everyone is joking about him blowing post season series but I am a "glass is half full " type of fan , as long as he can get the team a series lead on teams I have enough faith that Giannis/Dame will get that extra win.

no it's not. they still have an underwhelming roster outside of him and Dame. They have a bunch of guys who are either old (lopez) or average role players (Payne, Crowder, Connaughton). In a league where the Celtics is paying just Tatum and Brown like half a billion over 5 years and the Lakers dont or just barely make the play offs even though they have Bron and AD, that just might not be enough. Bucks needs to unload all the players that arent above average and on their timeline. It's a shame they couldnt get Siakam (for instance in a trade for Payne, Connaughton, Middleton/Crowder, Beasley).

Plus the 01 Lakers were a defensive monster in the playoffs and only had bad defensive numbers in the season because Fisher missed the first 60 games or so.

I feel this is a better fit for doc because it'll be a familiar kind of team similar to the one he won a championship with. Giannis is like KG, Middleton a Paul Pierce, and Dame Ray Allen...all they really need is a good perimeter defender to come in on a vet salary like Shumpert if he's still able to play. He would be a good perimeter defender. That's my opinion on it🤷🏾

apparently Chicago doesnt want to trade Caruso so that's not in the cards. And why would Chicago do that deal anyway.
