- The Japanese bubble economy presented some of the most high tech, high grade and well equipped cars of al time. The 70s was an era of reserved but bold styling and the 80s was about advancement in pushing the envelope of electronics and interior comfort. Many technological foundations that set the stage for the golden age of JDM cars of the 90s had it's roots in the 80s final 'Showa' period. From the Nissan Fairlady Z Z31's then futuristic and pre cyber front half headlamps and 'Tron" like tail lamps to the cool elegance but tough Mitsubishi Starion GSR-VR's razor edge body lines straight out a 80s Sci-Fi flick. On one hand cars that showcased the latest automotive technology with luxury as the top pf the line 'specialty cars' like the MZ20 Toyota Soarer and F31 Nissan Leopard captured the imagination and was the car to aspire to for the classy and hip gentlemen of the bubble era.
In this episode of JDMM Raw , Captbradford discovers a premium used car dealer with an impressive fleet of high grade 70s to early 90s Neo Classic icons for the JDM enthusiast with refined tastes. Most of these cars would be considered out of the current hype of sports cars however a deeper look will reveal the essence of a deeper car appreciation with these now valuable Showa collectibles.
Five Star Technical specializes in stocking only the finest cars. With many of these examples going for above 3 million yen. Most of the cars on display still retain the original wheels, interior, emblems and are mostly stock with a few exceptions. We take a first look at this impressive outdoor Japanese car museum that you can buy. The owner of the dealer has agreed to let JDMM review some of these gems that are increasingly hard to find now. So stay tuned for future development of Showa cars.

That montage of 80s clips with the background music was perfect! Loved it JDM Masters!
And I like the song at the very beginning. What's it called?

Gonna love to see a review on Z31. As a child I first saw it at a car show inside the New World Centre at Tsimshatsui in Hong Kong back in 1984. I was stunned by the looks of Z31, no matter red, black, silver they all looked great! In particular the half-opened headlights I felt they were something out of the world sexy.
These jdm retro cars are awesome, used to work on some as a teenager. 70s and 80s share the same features and technology. Most significant breakthrough was the introduction of EFI ,replacing carburetor systems, in the late 80s and in early 90s the addition of valve variable timing. In regards to the timing belt change , most of these cars are on shims, with some having more complex tensioning systems. Cheers for a well made tribute to these.
👏🏽👏🏽
visited a friend in tokyo when i was 15 in 1986, his father had a soarer..was my first time in a fast japanese coupe and was so amazed by the tech those days..would love to see it again on this channel
miss my Z31 ...
and yes it was futuristic,
with all the digital clusters ,
even the calculation of the fuel/km by the speed you where going at the moment.
they even have the voice lady telling you :
the passenger side door is open *bip*
the fuel is low *bip*
hahaha remind me old good memories
thanks you
Please review the 300zx! It looks to be the 200zr with the RB20DET, a very rare model of the Z31
I need to see a review, wish I could like this comment more
It's crazy to see so many of these era cars in such good condition! Thanks for the tour!
The description is well worded.
Japan......such a beautiful country with beautiful people.
Thank you for reading the description
In ww2 they werent beautiful people. Never forget
He’s talking about present folks
@@tanthaman Are you 90 years old ?
The Mitsubishi Starion takes me back. My dad had one, but with a different hood (cant remember the exact spec) but in the hood was that red knight rider style light.
Loved the Toyota Soarer at the end, please have a closer look at this! The 80's cheezy cop show tie-in's were awesome to see!
I second the Soarer, awesome looking car!. All of the cars on that lot are awesome, cant go wrong no matter which one you choose.
Japanese 80S 😍not just the cars but the whole vibe back then 🔥👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Great to see a number of 80s cars in top shape.
I'd love to see a review on GSR and 200ZR.
Keep the great content coming
Imagine to have between 18-30 Years in the 80's,no kids, no big problems and the money to afford those cars news, wow, happy for the people that could afford them ❤️
What a great collection of classics at 5 Star; I could spend hours there.
Fascinating, the cars, the background music, the clips very well done. As usual very high quality content. Keep up the premium level work!
I loved this! Excellent work, Captain!
The plush interiors take me back to my childhood. I had a couple of older relatives with cars that had super comfy velour interiors.
Throw some plastic on those seats and it would look identical to my great-grandmother’s living room. 😂
The music was such an excellent touch. Ah, this video is full of so much great nostalgia!
I would LOVE to get a closer look at the Soarer or Starion in a future video or feature.
Well done!
This eras culture is very sorely missed nowadays in Japan. Fascinating coverage.
When he said "Welcome to JDM masters RAW! like sushi" :D, I swear lol you the best
I've slowly been more and more interested in the machines of the 80s after the typical 90s classics, so these are a real treat to look at!
I would absolutely love to see an MZ20 Soarer review. For a while I've fancied either an MZ20 or even GZ20 but in the UK it isn't like there are any examples around to look at or try
One of the best videos so far guys
That's what I like from the 80s and 90s japanese cars were fun to drive and got history behind them.
Ha!! Love the intro music.
Its a Pain in brain 🤣
I want a Starion more than anything in the world, my absolute dream car
That's the first video of yours that I've seen and I'm blown away. Great content, brilliant knowledge and amazing voice/language. WOW 👍👍👍
Great video, cap! Especially enjoyed the crisp audio
I love this era of cars. There’s so many obscure trim levels and options. There were some models here in the states equipped that way but not as much as Japan. Thanks Cap.
Loving these style of videos, can’t wait to see the car review videos on these cars, keep up the good work Capt 👍🏼

Holy crap!!!! This brings back a lot of memories.
Love this content , followed an US marine in there who made this type of videos but since he's already returned to his home country no one replaced him ... Until now , many thanks Capt 🙏

Loved it
Jdm masters raw rr like sushi. Hahaha i love it
Great to see some more starion coverage around. They are getting harder to find & going up in value
Let’s see a review of that 200zr!! Was just thinking it would be awesome since the new Z is coming out and the 200zr was the last straight six Z. Bit of fairlady history that is not often talked about.
Nissan Leopards are my JAM!!!
crazy. i love those 80's soarers
300zx review PLEASE!!!!
I want both of those soarers and that a70 supras
We need more of this
Awesome video! I would be most interested in the slightly lowered two-tone Soarer and the lightblue car, which looked like a Jaguar. Looking forward to future videos 👍
I love the Starion / Conquest. I remember my cousin’s car as a kid and it was the first car that I remembered seeing having a front mount intercooler.
Love them all, but that Mitsubishi Starion 🤩.
Love the z31
Keep up the good work CBF....I'll to see you review a nissan sunny b13...
Hey JDM Masters, great to see so many JDM cars from the 80s, love it! What a great song, do you have a track ID? ;D
Excellent. Test any of them if you are able. All great!
Perfect era car's with the corresponding music, one of the best JDM videos for me👍. And I hope we can see more similars in the future. And massive thanks to the manager who allowed all this 👌
That Starion is the rarest of the rare sweet!
We need more old skool jdm nostalgia😊
