    You need a couple of good filters going or that algae that you called moss will keep multiplying and choke out all the oxygen and kill the remaining fish left alive….. Also need to invest in a good fountain to keep constant water flow moving to create oxygen in the water. Also grass carp to eat the debris (only need like 4 ) also should of put in pond gravel for healthy bacteria to live on and feed on the nutrients (you can buy healthy bacteria for ponds and add it to hatchery) also add aquatic plants floating on surface (they will also eat nutrients and keep water filtered and clean ) Hope that helps

    I think there's more fish than you think. They're too fast for the cast net.
    You could see them with the white backdrop of the hose.
    As far as predators go set up your trail cameras all around the pond covering every angle. A bunch of them, not just one or two. Then see if anything is visiting. If there's a body of water nearby you might have river otters coming for dinner

    You need to take your deer blind that Brad the build did for you and do a 24 hour challenge inside of the deer blind looking at the hatchery. And put a green light in the hatchery. Because the fish are attract to it. Why don’t you build a small solar System down there to control the electricity so you don’t have to pay for it like at the old cabin at your last property. That way you can have the aerator and the filter and everything running on that:

  • @kmba-9197
    @kmba-9197 Před 10 měsíci +4

    I'm pretty sure there in there. It's probably the same situation when you tried netting them from that blue tub you thought everything was dead but they were just to fast to catch. Plus that net is small and the pond is deep so there sitting on the bottom and it's taking forever for the net to get down to them. So basically if it was dang near impossible to catch them in a small tub I'm pretty sure they can evade you in a pretty decent size pond.

    You can run a fish line net across the top of the pond. Even a loose one will deter any flying predators.
    As for the question of if you have fish:
    1) Put minnow traps in different parts of the pond and see how much you catch overnight.
    2) See if you can attach fishing sonar to your kayak and slowly float across. ( You will have to defer to the rest of people here to see if this is even possible.)

  • @jordangarneau8817
    @jordangarneau8817 Před 10 měsíci +4

    Flair , it's not a predator , minus the fish that di3 and float . Fish need water flow and oxygen . In your previous lake , there was plants to solve the oxygen issue , there was an overflow of water and so on . Thousands of fish is still alot for thousands of gallons . Change half the water and get the filter going again . Fish are also smart. That drone is noisy and they will avoid it , I bet there's more fish than you think .

    @FLAIR I am thinking that the fish are just a lot faster than the net and the drone.
    Some suggestions:
    1. Get the filter going to clean the water
    2. Drain a few feet of water
    3. If you are unable to see fish after that than add lights to try to see them school at night while feeding
    4. If you discover most the fish are gone than get a few hundred more fish and than set up the trail cams and monitor what is going on to see if it is predators
    5. I am pondering on the idea that a snapping turtle is hiding in there eating the fish...you never put up a fence or anything so stuff like that could easily get in
    6. Idea for protection would be to get like car ports and place them over the pool ponds than fence them in like an aviary or you could build floorless sheds to place over them

    You could get a big net with little squares that will reach from one side of the fish pool to the other side. Put heavy weights on the bottom of the net, floats on along the top of the net and seine the pool going towards the water tank. Then put your big water pump in the other end and suck out all the water, keeping the fish between the net and the tank side of the pool. It'll take three people. Two to walk in the water on either side of the net and hold it so the 3rd guy can pump the water out.

    1) 3/4 ft castnet would never work in that deep of water unless you had one with 3lbs lead per foot and still would be a challenge.
    2) There was atleast 8 fish I saw, maybe more. With the visibility that bad and the fish running from the drone you need to run the filter for a week straight and try it again. 🤙🏼🤙🏼

    I think the 1st thing to do is get the filter running so the water will clear up. The fish are there on the bottom eating algae on the bottom. Most fish will eat plant or meat matter so as fry and up 1" or so they eat off the bottom. Clear up your water clean up the bottom with just a pool brush your pump withh get grab it. You don't need a fountain you just need something to cause water adjetation on the surface you can just an large pond air pump and air stones. You can weighted air line so that it doesn't float. Also try adding Microb Lift benecial bacteria to the pond once you get the filter running. Hope some of this is helpful.

    I think the drag net is the only other thing to try, but I think you should put up a few train cams for a few days and see what comes by.

    I could really use that drone for locating ww2 artifacts like old guns, vehicles and who knows what else, I would even give you first pick on using the footage. Military came to botwood set up defenses and dumped everything once war was over, but no one had tried to recover anything from our town. Hope you see this flair

    Other than sorting out ur filter or placing an aerator to it. To help the algae issue u can tie a inch long piece of copper pipe to a string and let it hang into the water. The copper will help prevent with algae growth. It with an aerator can help until u fully sort out the filter situation.
    Ik people use a small piece of copper in koi ponds and in water buckets

    Backwash the sand. The filter will work but you have to clean it a bunch of times untill its clear. Put ball valves on the input and output then a hose to drain the dirty water outside of the pond. Take a shop vac and push it to the bottom of the filter then close the valves and blow air to agitate the sand mixing it up releasing the dirt. Then turn on the pump and drain the dirty water. Do that a few times till its clean. Then repeat every week or a few days till its clear. Then get a bunch of pleco for the algea.
