  • The plaintiff, an accountant, claims the defendant hasn’t paid him for his services, so he’s suing. The defendant insists the plaintiff forgot to turn in his tax return, so the defendant is not going to pay the plaintiff for something he didn’t do.

My husband is an accountant. I can't tell you how many times where I've had to say to him "BRENDAN! JUST TELL ME IN NORMAL PEOPLE LANGUAGE WHAT THE HECK YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT!" Whenever we are talking about finances/or if he is talking to me about his work. lol He will go on a tangent about something finance related, talk in "financizee" and I get lost.
When he finally breaks down what he was originally trying to tell me, it always ends up with me saying "Wait...THATS ALL YOU WERE TRYING TO SAY!? IT WAS SO SIMPLE ALL ALONG??"

Then again, it's not really different with electronics... you go buy ink for your printer, and you need to know if you have the model 36B7J3-5 or the 36B7J3-8 because if you don't know, you have a 50-50 chance of buying incompatible cartridges.

I used to work in an accountants office, even if the return has to be mailed in we mailed it in to the place it needed to go. We would have the client come in to sign whatever needed to be signed then we mailed it into the IRS or the state office to ensure that it was sent out in a timely manner. That way client can’t blame us if mailed in late because clients will forget.
Should be part of this man’s job to mail the return in, just have client sign paperwork then mail in the return to ensure it is sent in.

When not understanding what a person is saying, especially someone with intellect, it breaks down to not listening properly. I was able to follow what he was saying, but the Judge decided to continue to interrupt, that causes a person to lose their train of thought and now that information they were trying to relay comes out differently based on the person interrupting them. If we listen more, talk less, you’ll understand what someone is saying or what they are not saying.

I really don't see how people didn't understand what the tax accountant was saying. It wasn't that difficult to understand! Sure, he was giving more detail than he needed, but it's his job to understand these things and he just wanted to explain what had happened.
I do understand, though, about how doctors and lawyers use jargon that most people don't understand. (Pharmacology is one of my passions, so I do usually understand what docs are saying about meds.) I recently bought a condo and holy mother of all... I had no idea what the heck I was doing half the time and it was so incredibly complicated and confusing. Thankfully, I was buying it from a friend and coworker and I had been renting it from her for a year beforehand, so that simplified the process because we skipped out on real estate agents, but the paperwork and the messages from the lawyers were like wading through a swamp.
