Hi Corey! Thanks for the code. Love aqua huna.
I have a goldfish question. Could you do a vid on how to address over grown "brain"please? You mentioned doing surgery. Thank you!
"some are over active." as one in the background does a face plant... lmao awesome.
His entire tank looks lethargic and there are a few completely bottom sitting sickly looking fish.
@@CanineGrowTime they have long fins and are cold water fish, you won't see them darting around the tank like tetras and other tropical small fish
There's only one that is truly lethargic in that tank and he acknowledged it in the video
Starting at 2:45, that goldfish in the close right section of the tank began swimming with such confidence, only to face plant into the sand. These animals are beautiful, and I adore them
Goldfish is eating debris from sand. Beautiful fish though. I wish my fish looked that lovely.
I re-watched it 3x just cracking up! I rescued a fancy tank having zero interest in fancy goldfish but they are so derpy & funny to watch, I actually enjoy them a lot. My tank has a few white clouds in there & they all get along well.
They are my all time favorite! đ
"These fish get really big bodies, and they don't like to get hot." I have never related more in my life..... đ đ đĄ đ
My goldfish live in 82-86 degree water. They seem pretty happyđ€
hahaha great comment. Same brother
@@ednamoreno6870 They do well in warm water with plenty of oxygen and filtration actually, I just ârescuedâ two out of a backyard pond where they were left and Iâm in the South where the heat index is like 115ish and the humidity is HIGH.
@@slcanavan1 Haha thank you bro Iâm just now seeing this!
I would argue that fancy goldfish are not cool water fish but rather a temperate water fish that can tolerate low to high ranges of water temp. I keep mine at 78F and they are doing fine.
Goldfish are the pugs in the fishkeeping hobby, change my mind!
So... Terribly bred and ugly? I kind of agree, though I think a lot of fancy goldfish breeds are probably healthier than pugs. I think that pond goldfish can be pretty nice though.
With fish I overall don't prefer the look of the squat bodies and bulging eyes.
Depends on the variety. I think comets/commons/fantails are completely fine. Other varieties come with health issues
@@ChikkiSh00gs
Agreed.
Nasty Nic and a lot more are fine as long as the fish can swim properly itâs fine
And I love both!
I'm glad you did a comprehensive goldfish video.
đ
2:47 That goldfish face plant on the bottom right đ
I like how cory hasn't lost touch with the average hobbyist and his videos are still informative and relatable. A lot of fish CZcamsrs start out great but then as the money etc comes in I find their videos aren't as relatable, still enjoyable though. He's reasonable, he doesn't just say "you need this cause its the best" not realising a lot of hobbyists can't go and buy the most expensive "best" item or if you have 20+ tanks there's going to be a lot of DIY projects rather then buying over priced fluval equipment for everything. Even when he's giving advice, you can tell he's got the average hobbyist in mind, some youtubers struggle to achieve that. Joey is one, love his videos but his channel is barely producing content that it use to, no one needs a tutorial on how to setup a aquarium gallery ya know what I mean?
I needed this when I was 10 and my mom said I could only get goldfish lol
crinum calamistratum
I have a 7 year old fantail goldie in a 55 gallon, he's my water puppy. â€

Aquarium Co-Op hey Corey I was looking to buy some multis shell dwellers can find them at any of my local fish stores any websites that you know of sell them?
Gotta be honest ever since I subbed two years ago youâve never let me down with your knowledge
I'm in love with fancy oranda goldfish! I've followed you for a long time and always promote your amazing sponge filters!! I'm working on a channel that emphasizes goldfish and fish care! Thanks for the inspiration! I admire you're dedication to healthy aquariums and fish!!!
Looking good, Cory. The trainer and gym time is really paying off. I, personally, wouldn't get goldfish unless I knew for sure I had a twenty year plan for caring for them. They are beautiful and derpy all at the same time.
đđđ
Thank you, these are the best type of videos. Keep them coming.
Preferring to have biotope specific aquariums, I never thought I'd keep goldfish until I rescued a large Fantail from a college library. the she was kept in awful conditions. Ended up she died in my care from an extremely large internal tumor. Very sad. Now I keep 1 male, calico Ryukin and 1 male, red and white Fantail. I love them. It was a HUGE learning curve, but well worth it. I learned a lot from your videos, so I am very grateful. I feed them Saki-Hikari Fancy Goldfish pellets, Repashy Super Gold, duckweed, seaweed, and any steamed or boiled veggies and fruits they like...not all at once, mind you! LOL! They are thriving because of what I learned from you, and from researching so much! Their names are Kaku and Shizue. Hey!
You are a wealth of knowledge. Whenever I have an issue, I refer to your channel because I know I can find an answer. Thanks for all you do!
I am about to get my fancy gold fish for my bowfront tank and I am super excited. I have always had cichlids. Your video is most helpful and I have learned so much about the goldies thanks for your video. You are most helpful....:)
Had these in my pond when I was little, they live forever :)
As usual good down to earth and easy to follow advice. Thank you đ
I love these fish care guide videos, so informative! I was thinking one that you havenât done a video on yet, could be the three most commonly sold sharks; that are sold at the local Petcos and Petsmarts. Bala, rainbow and red tail. It seems these sharks are sold so often, but the amount of care information that is provided to people from the pet store employees is usually quite lacking.
My 3 goldfish and axolotl lived in the pond outside for 4 years hot and cold weather now moved inside indoor aquarium and still doing very well , very easy to maintain
I've wanted a goldfish tank since I was a tiny bean. Trying to learn as much as I can before I get them. I've never heard about them liking cooler water. That's crazy. Thanks for the videos! Wish me luck
Just bought 4 goldfish for my 200l tank. Absolutely in love
Iâm a fancy goldfish owner 1st, planted freshwater aquariums 2nd. Repashy Super Gold is a really good food for these chubby water puppies too. ÂŁ80 for the big 2kg tub, and Vitalis Goldfish pellets ÂŁ45 for 1.8kg. Peas every 2nd day and frozen cube of Brine shrimp, bloodworms, frozen krill or mysis (in rotation) every other day in between the peas. Love these fish. I have 7 in a 350Litte L shaped tank in my bedroom đ
Saving this video. Thanks so much Cory.
Nice job on this. Feels more âpersonalâ and your confidence was there. Well done. Lookin good!
Such a helpful video! Thank you so much!
Love watching your goldfish videos Cory, the fancy's in your 800 gallon are stunning - do you plan to add any more plants, and turn it into a "show" goldfish tank?...that would make it even more amazing!
i was waiting for this from many days đđ
Just got 2 black moor and I am really excited. They are beautiful!
Thanks for the guide, I have 2 1 month old goldfish a blackmoor and an oranda. Currently they're in a 20 gallon because I couldn't find anything larger in my area rn. In a few months I'm upgrading to a 40 gallon (if I can find one). And I'm really clueless on water testing this video helped a lot. I'll also be adding plants asap.
I never liked goldfish until seeing some of your late night unboxings, now I can't get enough!! 2 fantail and 3 ryukins in a 180. And by the way cory your looking awesome! Keep it up man, I forsee you running laps around swiskey!
6:50 skinny fancy goldfish, oh Cory ! thank you.
I just fell off my chair laughing đŒđ„đđ
I just got in to these guys. Never liked or really thought about them. But when I got one for pond he quickly became my favorite fish and I got him some friends
They can really grow on you
Fantail goldfish are the most beautiful of all ornamental fish. Others may disagree and I respect their right to do so but if you have a big tank with large filtration and are slightly understocked you'll adore watching those small $2 fish turn into fist sized supermodels with long and flowing tails. Maintenance is so important with goldfish (fancy goldfish) though. Give them a large water change every week. They are a durable and hardy fish and if you do a large water change every week they'll get used to it and will thrive in the low nitrate water this provides them with.
Thank you for making this video. My grandma is in the hospital and might not come home, and her two goldfish are in my care now. I want to be able to look after them
I'm sorry but how is she now? :-(
@@buttonsjunior1131 unfortunately she passed away not long after I made that comment, but she did live well into her 90s! It's always sad to lose someone, but at least she had a long life. â€ïž
@@YanickFM thatâs good, I am sorry for your loss
Dude youâre looking good! Keep it up brother!
Thank you for the video! I appreciate your helpful tips and janky tricks. : )
Good info on goldies, thatâs what I call them. My old, 10yrs., one is so big and fat now, itâs a common goldfish. I know it needs a larger tank, itâs in a 20 gallon. But just canât get one. 3 corrys are in there 2. I love the black and gold fancy one you have. đđ»â€ïž
Thanks for the tips - appreciate it
Glad to see you looking and sounding so much better than you were doing at Aquashella!
I mentioned to a long distant friend after I put my old dog down that I might for go dogs (and horses and cats) in the future and get fish. Memorial Day weekend she and her husband show up with their 5 gallon aquarium with 2 Goldfish. Not what I had in mind! Iâm looking at this tank and thinking this plain big goldfish is way too big for this tank. But as Iâm learning, both these goldfish are in need of a bigger tank!! My idea was a medium size tank with small fish like Tetras swimming around. But Iâm learning as I research that goldfish are not for beginners. So Iâve been searching for more information and found this. Great information. Thank you!
I love watching them have all that room in the 880 gallon đ
I have 5 fancy goldfish in a 125, i love them. The one Iâve had for over 3 years now.
I have a 120 gallon tank, can I put 5-6 goldfish in it?
Iâm getting one of those 55 gallon patio ponds. Iâm looking to get 2 fancy goldfish. Thanks for the care info.
Your goldfish are absolutely gorgeous wow
Love the video!! Unfortunately I made the mistake that you talked about. I tried to keep 2 Ranchu in a 29 gallon and of course it was a lot of water changes.
Oh NO! I currently have a 29 gallon set up and 2 ranchus on the way :'( How often do you do water changes?
What about 1 lionhead and 1 black moor in a 50?
Iâve got 4 baby fancies in a 29 right now. The only reason for that is because Iâm upgrading to a 75 in a few months and I know they wonât outgrow this tank that fast. Iâm doing weekly or bi weekly water changes as Iâve found that worked best for me in the past. I also want to get at least 15 moss balls to help with waste disposal
My goldfish stays in temp from 76 to 80 and they are fine. It's the domestic bred goldfish that are cold water. Imported goldfish from asia thrives in tropical climate.
How did I miss that you did a goldfish video?!?! đ
Great video and information đ
Hi! Iâve been watching your videos for a while and they always help me to get better on taking care of my fancy goldfish. Thank you for that! Iâve had a goldfish for over 2 years and heâs grown a lot and recently added an Oranda and they get along perfectly well in my 75Gal tank. My problem is that my goldfish lately has been going to the top of the tank to gasp for air. Iâve read a lot about it and mostly I find it can be lack of water surface movement, but I have air pumps and 2 waterfall filters and the oxygen measurements are more than fine, so I know that canât be the problem, but looking at your video I saw a couple of your goldfish in the background doing the same. Going up to the surface for a little bit and gasp some air and going back down and act like nothingâs happening. So, my question is: itâs normal for some of them to come up and gasp some air once in a while? Or is it a sign that theyâre having some trouble or they might be sick?
Sorry for the long message. Hope you have time to reply. Iâm really worried
Thank you very much.
Believe it or not Iâm starting to see more and more of the undergravel filter being sold at least here in Kansas City mom and pop shops and big box stores
Older video but itâs such an amazing amount of useful info.
I maintained 2 goldfish in 40 gallon unheated with 1 redtail shark (really docile) for 8 yrs with undergravel filters ;)
Love gold fish!
Hey! Love your videos! One of my local fish sellers has ranchu goldfish coming in next week. I have a 29 gallon tank set up and cycled in preparation. I have two aqua clear filters on it (30 and 20) along with a bubble wall for good oxygen. Is one ranchu the limit for that tank setup?
I so want goldfish but I know I can't give them the space they deserve to have to do their too cute wiggle swim!
7:06 đ
yep.........in coming!!!!! uuugh
Very very cool, keep it up
I have a black moor goldfish in my 10 gallon with my other fish but it's temporary cuz I got a 20 gallon cycling at the moment and once the tank is ready I'll put the goldfish in it. I'm also keeping a close eye on the goldfish to make sure it's healthy and not bullying other fish or the other fish aren't bulling it.
I think a 60 gallon cube considering they are slow swimmers would be perfect. The donât need a long tank but a bulky tank I guess the term would be. Could have 4-6 in one with no problems.
I have 55 gallon tank with 13 goldfish (ranchu with lionhead). No problem, I âpersonallyâ think is to maintain the water clean. Thank you for the video!
You are way overstocked dude. Are you having to do water changes daily? They must be small or else they'd not have room to swim around each other...
You can see my video đ I respect the idea of 20 gallons per fish. But, not always.
What substrate do you recommend for GF? Mine are in a barebottom because Iâm worried about them choking on gravel and sand is a huge pita.
I am newbie to aquarium, how do you test for ammonia nitrogen in the water? Many thanks for answering my query.
erm, nothing like i do at the mo then! 1000L ibc with a solids lift overflow, with my rain gutters doing all the water changes as and when it rains,,, also got 2 sponge filters in there which gets rinsed every week'ish,,, 10 goldfish(2 of which are oranda's) and 2 weather loaches... il admit im worried about winter, but other than that, its been awesome so far, no manual water changes :)
Hi Cory and fishfam! What are your tank size recommendations for comet goldfish? Thanks Cory for helping me keep my goldies happy!
Depends at what stage of the comets life. Usually a 4 ft long tank and up is what Iâd recommend.
@@AquariumCoop Thanks, that's reassuring!!! I have 3 x 6 years-old comets, 11" Luca, 8" Spot and 4" Blinky in a 75 gal. They lived with 5 more goldies in a 15 gal before I got them. Luca grew the most, but Blinky barely grew. WC every 2 weeks and lots of plants to keep nitrates under 40.
I do not like bare bottom , what sustrate do you recomend, thank you for all the information, follow you all the time.
Hi. Thanks for the videos u re very helpful.. The question is how long does it take to change water,?..and can I change it even if I is clear.
Great video, love the topic!
I love love love your goldfish setup! I own 2 goldfish and im planning on upgrading to a bigger tank and getting my 2 boys some new friends. I am a part of some fish keeping groups on facebook and I get a lot of people complaining that i own goldfish and that all goldfish are sick and will die because they are overbred. How would you respond to them? The goldfish i own are veiltails so they arent that âexoticâ.
I love your channel
Iâve been reading up on goldfish, like simplicity in my tanks so avoiding canisters, but Iâve also read bubbles and goldfish is kind of a no-no, in youre experience is this the case? Leaning towards bigbsponge filters or ziss bubblers in my 75gallon
Sweet I just bought a fancy goldfish for my 20 gallon. Iâm ready for the water changes!
Edit: I do test my water
Cory can you talk about swim bladder disease? How to cure it?
What product are you using to create those bubbles in the background?
I have a 3 years old large female blackmoor called harriet . She's such a character . She has an incredibly long tail
Co op how about power heads filtration with bubblers on for oxygen ?
So, you mentioned briefly about them eating the plants if they're not fed properly- does that mean that, as long as they're fed properly, they won't actually eat the foliage?
Are there certain plants that are better suited to a fancy goldfish aquarium than other plants? (Apart from ones you can attach to wood and rocks as you mentioned.)
I'd just like my next aquarium to be planted but I don't want the fish to eat all the plants XD I've already learnt the hard way that goldfish eat tankmates sometimes
Hi Cory
Can you please mention best substrate for fancy goldfish?
I have a single black moor in a 110 litre with a couple of dojo loaches and I feel bad for the little (two years old and not so little) chap so Iâm rehousing my community tank into a 483 litre and putting the goldfish into a 270 litre. I donât know how pet stores can recommend 29 litre tanks for these fish. The mind boggles. It really does.
I like bigger tanks so that the animal has space to move and actually live a decant life
I have a 50 gallon tank with a 110 HOB aqua clear fluval filter. Should I also get one of those bubble discs or stones I think you call it or that thing you have in the background blowing the bubbles up?? Should I switch to a cannister filter and Iâm not sure if I have common or comet goldfish.. they are about a year and a half old now and the biggest one is ?? 6 inches?? Only two goldfish in the tank
Whereâs the best place to ask questions is there an email address or a phone number?? I got black sand because I liked the way it looked but I feel like I canât really see the poop as much as when I had white sand....
Did I make a mistake adding argonite sand "grain size " ph ? Will it help to buffer or will raise ph too much ta
Apparently, my spirit animal is a goldfish.
Stout, Check.
Loves to eat all through out the day, Check
New to keeping fancy goldfish. I purchased a current machine. Will this be good for my fish or should I return it? Thanks
I have 3 comet goldfish in 29 gallon tub with a shunbunkin and 2 black moors and its full of hornwart and they do great
What substrate do you recommend for goldfish?
Iâm just trying to figure out if I can put these kind of goldfish in an outside koi/goldfish pond. Iâve started putting a fish pond in my garden. Iâve got a $200 filter in my pond right now. Iâve got 3 koi and around 30 of the cheap feeder gold fish in it now. The feeder goldfish get fed to my other pets so they donât stay in the pond long. I live in South Carolina so it does get hot and we donât have long winters. I am going to add a lot of plants. I know this system worked with my old pond at my old house with koi and the cheap goldfish. I just like these fancy fish. I use the water from the pond to water my vegetables so the water is constantly cycled. Iâm also going to add some shade to the pond. Itâs in its beginning stages right now and will probably take another year or so to complete on my budget but Iâd like to add 5 or 6 of these to the pond as permanent fish.
Was looking on kijiji and craigslist on the weekend and it made me so sad. Sooo many goldfish up for rehoming, and most of them in tanks way too small, or purchased for a pond in the summer, with no plans made for winter housing. And I can't have tanks big enough to take any of them in. Hate to think what will happen to them all...
hey what brand are those 2 Air Pumps you have !?
Wow goldfish sound like so much more maintenance đź!!
I've kept them with goby catfish, mountain minnows, weather loaches, butterfly plecos, danio, bloodfin tetras, armano shrimps etc all fine for people wanting to know tank mates :)
So you think guppies and mystery snails would be cool with a big goldfish in a 50 gal??
@@zimrianispresent8123 yeah mate they'd be fine, forgot to add guppies :)
Zimrian Zimrian the goldfish and guppies tribe at different tenpatures and the goldfish would probably eat the guppies so I wouldnât suggest It
Hi Iâm really interested in getting fancy goldfish could I have two in a 30 gallon? Iâve had a community tank but would love to do research on having fancyâs i have had goldfish before ,thanks for these videos they help alot!
What happened to all the tiger barbs and clown loaches in the 800gl
Hello sir the goldfish do need a heater in aquarium?
Is there a particular substrate youâd recommend since they like to dig?
I typically use crushed coral to buffer the water
Love goldfish the cometâs aka feeder
