  • Dave Wheeler, PGM for Lincolnshire, sat down with Chris Watkin to discuss the UGLE 7 Year Plan to increase membership in Freemasonry
The United Grand Lodge of England (UGLE) has developed a strategy titled "Forging a Thriving Future: The Strategy for Freemasonry 2022 and Beyond," focusing on reversing a steady decline in membership and reinforcing its stature as a force for good in communities.
Under leadership of Pro Grand Master Jonathan Spence, the plan is aimed at addressing a 2.5% annual membership decline since 2008, with current numbers around 175,000.
Despite an increase in initiations post-pandemic, losses from resignations and cessation persist.
The strategy rests on three pillars:
    1. Thriving Membership,
    2. Coherent Organisation
    3. Community Engagement,
These will aim to promote sustainable growth, unity among members, and continued societal contribution.
The ultimate goal is modest yet steady membership growth, targeting a 1% increase by year three and 2% by year seven of the strategy.
Every Freemason is considered integral to this vision, with an emphasis on leveraging members' skills, enhancing communication, and amplifying community impact through charitable efforts.

Hi there, does the Charles Farmer Lodge still exist? My father William Green was a member around 1936.
