It's a pleasure to train with you!
Sean
I'm on week 2 now on my Yoga/Pilates workout for beginners for men...Great workout, Sean! Thank you so much...
Hi Coach Vigue, You're a blessing. Thank you for your work in providing excellent content. I have congenital hip issues that have restricted me very much. But over the years, whenever I do your routines regularly (along with some other PT), I feel unrestricted and pain free. Thanks, again, and Christ be with you.
Well balanced program. Excellent for all levels of fitness. Started Pilates 9 yrs ago. Covid hit n now with this Love it.
I love when u upload!Keep the videos coming (:
+Krazz Edits I love to upload...this is a great relationship, my friend.
Sean
looking for complete beginner videos for myself and friend (a guy) as we both injured our backs in training. If you could give a few more verbal instructions on correct technique that would be great. I get a little cautious when doing things such as pulse movements. Many thanks for sharing this
Beginner and new subscriber here. Outstanding workout. Thank you. Looking forward to learning more and healthfully advancing.
Looking forward to doing this with my family! 🙂
Kia ora Sean! we are a beginners Pilate class at Kaipara College, New Zealand. Our group really enjoyed working through your routine. Kia kaha from us here in Aotearoa.
Back to the basics, my fave
Did this with the whole family, including my 3 year old son. Signing in from London
Great to have a short taste of this. Been doing it for a week. First day it was hard, felt pointless, second day similar. Third day felt so much easier to do positions properly. Muscles were connecting. After a week, it’s clearly affecting my posture the rest of the day. Will keep at this short routine then step it up in another week thank you!
What a wonderful testimonial! So happy you stayed with it for those first tough days. Many people try the first couple exercises, feel too tight, weak etc and never come back.
Keep me posted!
Sean
Thanks!
great video and nice facilitation Sean! sharing your work
Thanks for sharing, Sarah! And...share it on.

Thanks for this. Doing work from home and needed something to keep me active since they keep closing my complex's gym. Also 31 people must have loud trucks since there are 31 thumbs down.
Just did my First Pilates work out here, I will be honest it really feels intimidating as a guy to go a Pilates school and being the only guy there, However with your instruction it did not feel intimidating, Plus Im doing Pilates for Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and MMA. Love this Alternative to weights High Five Man!!!
Yes, my friend! Pilates is essential for giving you an edge in MMA. Happy you're training with me.
Sean
Awesome workout as always Sean!
+Erin Brooks Thanks, Erin! Sorry for the lateness of this reply...these just popped up.

Hi teacher, greatings from Colombia, I'm glad to have found your videos, currently I have a problem with my back, specifically in my lumbar area, my doctor recommended me to take pilates class, so i´m here, do you think that this excersices would help me?
Hi, David. Has Pilates helped your low back?
Sean
I thought so sexy and strong to see a men doing pilates so good, what a focus and body connection. Then the dog show up to make the whole scenario even better. Love the class this should be the first comment 🤣🙏 thank you. Glad to find your videos.
This looks great! How often can I do this? Everyday or a rest day in between? Can I use this as a warm up to my regular 5km run?
This routine can fit however you want it to into your current workout program. It can be solo, before or after your current routine or take some of the exercises and plug them into a different workout. I recommend doing this no more than 4 times per week.
Sean
Is there a book or something where I can find these workouts?
Hi Sean, thanks for the video!
I have a torn disc in my back so I'm trying to strengthen my core. I also have a "Tough Mudder" (5k obstacle run) to do in September that I'm hoping Pilates can help prepare me for.
I was just wondering if you could advise on the following:
1) How frequently should I do this work out before moving on to something longer and harder?
2) I really struggle with the back stretch because I have tight hamstrings and it aggravates my disc, what's the best way to solve this? Simple stretch every day?
3) Is your physique purely built from Yoga and Pilates!?
4) I don't suppose you're heading to the UK looking for a complete novice to shape and mold for a new series of videos!? I definitely know a guy! 😁😂

Hi AM new in pilates, i should do this once a day or more 4 times a week. Btw u doing great job!
I read down on the comments that he says no more than 4 a week but can be incorporated into your current workouts for example before a 5km run.
Btw in totally new to this too so hopefully it can sort out my lower back pain!
It's the first video I see from you but I am pretty sure you are an instructor, because you just keep people being engaged without messing up your breathing.
Neer really was intereted in yoga, find that a little too spiritual and distracting, but pilates sounds great as it's pure exercise. Personally I used to be fit when I was younger, but since covid I changed a lot. Went from walking all day long for ours, probably 30k steps everydayy without even pushing or counting, just as a normal day, and generally just did sports left and right, to sitting at home, doing nothing. I also transitioned to working labour to working on my laptop, which also didn't help.
It doesn't make me special, but I did a total 180 and notice the huge differences in everyday life. My posture changed from sitting so much, I didn't even notice until a few months ago. I noticed it by seeing my belthaving a weird bent at the back instead of being straight - it's due to my anterior tilt, and leather belts are unforgiving and have a memory, too. Like a boot, that fits snug to your individual foot after a while, the belts fit to your posture. Great way to noticeif your posture is okay or not.
I will find a way to implement pilates into my life to fix my posture, because when I tried to pick up running a month ago, I couldn't run very far or long due to unforeseen backpain o.O After a couple of attempts, it was just clear that I will not be able to push myself without actually hurting myself.
Do you recommend eating breakfast before doing pilates? I cant stand a morning without cereal, but I cant stand jogging with a stomach full of cereal
This is great. I have never done pilates before this. Do you go through everything once, or with pilates, do you do two or three sets? Thanks!
Thanks, Scott. Just follow along with what I'm doing and repeat the workout if you want more.
Sean
First day…I liked that this was simple to follow and can be done in 10 mins. Thanks
Sean, I am a VERY beginner. I have herniated discs in my lower back. Are there particular exercises I should focus on? Particular ones I should avoid? Thanks!
Speak to your physiotherapist who should have exercises for you. BTW your comment is 7 months ago. How is your back?
My dog's with me too hahaha
Also doing Pilates with my dogs.
+merrivideo What do they think?
Sean
+SeanVigueFitness they just want to sleep on the mat
Hi. How long do we follow this routine before progressing to others?
Once the routine is pretty easy it's time to move on.
Sean
I have a question : How long can we continue the beginner's work out?
Until it's no longer a challenge for you.
Sean
during the first few exercises, my hip flexors cramp up. is this a sign im doing something wrong?? or is there a way i can fix this???
It's usually means those hip flexors are tight and need to be regularly stretches and foam rolled (if you have one). You can always bend your knees to alleviate some of the tightness. Keep us posted!

I’m thinking of buying your book “Pilates For Men”. I’m 60 years old so my question is are the exercises and workouts in the book suitable for my age group? Thanks.
no you are too old for excercise im afraid
Hah smarty-pants! Bought the book and started the programme a few weeks ago anyway. Have survived so far! The only thing is I've strained my neck very slightly with some of the exercises so that's something to be careful about. I think Mr Vigue is really great but he could put a little more emphasis on the need to support the neck while doing Pilates. Apparently it can be a problem for a lot of people, especially when starting.
Do you lift weights or just yoga/Pilates?
I can’t even sit Indian style, I think I might have to try this to loosen up this stiff bod 🤔 and do you recommend doing this daily?
Practice it several times a week. Are you feeling better?
Sean
When do we know if we're ready to move onto the next level?
Once this routine feels easy it's time to move on.
Sean
What does he say @9:00?
I started visiting a Pilates class today... and I've been the only male. It was so embarrassing for me 😩 It probably shouldn't but I dunno what I can do about that.
well done- I had my 4 1/2 month old ginger goldendoodle climbing all over me-

My Norwegian Elkhound dog is usually lying next to me, in the way, looking at me and judging. I don't care I think he still likes me.

This is an intermediate lesson.
+dionnetales Oh, is it?
Sean
Can women do this video?
Of course!
Sean
I lift 5 days a week and want to expand my regimen to include mobility, but this is just waaay too sus. Will look into an alternative but thanks for the video, thumbs up for the trying to make a routine specifically for men.
Sus as hell
