I believe the biggest omission in this video is the huge pro for EGO: the removable batteries! I bought the 52” zero turn (comes with 6 12ah batteries) long with their 18” chainsaw and a 21” snowblower. I can use the 12ah batteries in all of those devices and any other tools in their line up.

Excellent analysis; clear, concise and intelligent comparisons. I'm on my third summer with the Mean Green Stalker stand-on mower (does NOT qualify for your < $8,000.00 comp) and it's been outstanding. I ordered it from The Lawnmower Hospital in Edmonton, AB (I live in Minnesota) and they were great to work with. The model was being discontinued and I got it for a steep discount from a ridiculous price. Very impressive heavy duty construction and the battery is amazing, with almost no phantom load loss during the winter (I check it on the first of each month). I use the Tesla charge philosophy (max 80%/min 20%) for a long battery life and it works well for me. I have roughly 1.75 acres with lots of trees and this thing makes it easy. Blessings and curses? "Phenomenal power and torque"- effortlessly climbs a 23% grade while mowing on high blade speed: Curse? "Phenomenal power and torque" management- it can be a bit jumpy and can quickly rip up a chunk of sod with the controller set-up, even on the turtle mode. Requires a feather touch. I'm assuming this has been addressed in succeeding model upgrades. By the way, of the models you mention, I favor the Ego- I have a couple of their mowers, blowers, trimmers, chain saw, etc. and they're very well made. [Side-note: the chain saw is five years old and the chain oiler has always had a tendency to leak the whole tank out if you hang it in the vertical position- hopefully they have addressed that issue in subsequent models. Otherwise, highly recommended.]
    Cheers!

@@lawnBot I've compared the Green Machine & GreenWorks Commercial models from their online specs, but I would love to see physical side-by-side comparison of the two companies' machines. I have never used a rideing mower & am new to being on land (my father recently got property with around 4-acres of mowable land w/ some trees to mow around). We hired a kid to mow our yard while we are researching electric commercial riding mowers. He used a 48" stand-on commercial Scag mower, which seemed really nimble & he complete the mowing in 2-hrs., which is the same as it has taken a mower with a larger deck to mow it. So decksize (as long as 48" or above) doesn't seem to be the most important factor for our needs. I am thinking we may get a 48", 50" or 52". I know the general recommendation is to get 52" or larger for 3-4 acres or more. But, 60" just seems so large & cumbersome to me to go in between & around trees. And, after seeing the kid we hired use his stand-on mower, I am really starting to consider a stand-on. I like how you have a higher view vantage point, & how you can quickly step on & off of a stand-on to pick up litter or a branch you don't want to mow over, etc. The prices are still too high for electric commercial riding-mowers, but we hope by next spring there will be more competition in the market & the more manufacturers won't be first generation anymore (as a number of first generation came out this year e.g., Exmark, Scag, etc.), so hopefully both of these factors help the prices to come down next spring. Thank you very much for your contribution to helping to figure this new electric commercial riding mower landscape out!

Thanks for this review. I'm looking at the EGO to replace my gas powered Husqvarna, 10 years old, over 700 hours. I mow about 3.5 acres. I recently purchased some other EGO products, blower, trimmer, smaller sp mower. They've all performed well this Spring, although the battery time on the mower is a bit lower than I expected.. Just trying to figure if the 6500 price tag is going to get me ten plus years that my Husky has given me for about half that amount ten years ago. I relive the maintenance that I have had over the past 10 years, plus gasoline, is a lot of $ (oil changes, belts, filters, etc etc). One question I do have is the easy of removing the mower deck to change and sharpen blades? Hoping my Husky lasts the season...but it an adventure each time I crank it up. Thanks for any feedback to my questions/apprehensions.

    • @lawnBot
      @lawnBot  Před rokem

I agree with you on the EGO products. I own the self-propelled mower, trimmer, hedger, leaf blower, and even a snow blower from EGO. All exceeded my expectations. I've had some going on the 5th season. Still perform fairly well. I have a 60in Bad Boy Maverick to mow my 6.5 acres. It's a true best of a machine. My wife has a smaller 38in Ryobi riding mower that is electric. It is going on its 4th season, and we are experiencing some decline on the battery life. To be fair, it is not Lithium Ion, though. Those batteries are lead acid. I wasn't expecting those to last more than 6 years. I would only buy a battery mower that allows for easy battery removal. The EGO definitely is one that does. I would love to test that steering wheel ZT model. Just because it's odd. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏻

If you are looking to get 10 years out of the Ego mower I am not sure the batteries will still be enough to cut as much as you have. I believe it comes with 4 batteries so you may need to buy 2 more and they are not cheap. Ego does have a great 5 year battery warranty on the Z6. My oldest Ego batteries are 5 years old and there is about a 10% drop in capacity. I am pleased with Ego batteries so far buy it all comes down to taking care of them.

Correct, the Ego has a fantastic suspension seat that is adjustable. While I do appreciate the time and work that went into this and I usually don't give thumbs up to channels I don't belong to, but I will here, for the above.
However, you have only done what I already have is the basic info you find online or on card info displayed with the mowers, that I have, or my eye on two or three of these, I'd like to know what you think about them by actual time spent working with them? That's what I need to know, otherwise this isn't of any help or use to me. Not being mean, just giving you positive feedback to help your channel grow.
I will say that absolutely the prices are ridiculous, same with mobility scooters. I'll give you my reasons here, I'm a ret Firefighter that's disabled, I have a very painful nerve disease, no not neuropathy, lol, I wish, no I have CRPS or what used to be called RSD. I have just enough year front and back to justify a riding mower, and well I don't want all the maintenance and gas getting I used to do when I wasn't disabled, I want a good comfortable electric riding mower. I have a Ryobi, (Rie Oh-Bee not Ree, as you asked lol think it depends on where you are from, I'm originally CA and we all say Ry as in Ryan, and I've found the southern states and eastern south states say Ree-Oh-Bee) battery push mower which I could do, then it's just gotten harder as my disease has progressed in my legs, and I need to replace my old gas mower with an electric riding mower, and if I have to, for the issues I have I'll spend 10k so I can still do what I can to take care of my home and still have my independence, sure I could hire a yard company but that's just an added expense that takes away yet something else I love to do, and I have to wait on them and when they will come or cancel and so on, but if it's something that helps us disabled to maintain our dignity and independence and our mobility to get out and not continue to rott away in bed, then that is my friend how we justify these prices. Not our fault companies make them so damn expensive. Like I said mobility scooters can range from as low as 2k up to 8k and I'm like does it cut grass!!?? Why so much, it's insane, it's a lawn chair four wheels and an electric motor and a battery for Pete's sake, it don't cut grass a cup holder is an expensive option for some dumb reason, and it's because people think you have money when you're old and it's really not the case, so many including myself have to use the electric shopping carts and they always die on you in mid shopping I try to not use them for fear of being stranded but so others can use them, and they look like they were used to find land mines with they're so beaten up, it's sad, the cheapest mobility cart I can find is like $900!!! How can anyone as a company justify these prices be it mobility scooters or mowers is the question. Money and greed. I tell you if a new company started and made good quality mobility scooters and riding mowers for a few hundred bucks they'd a so rich and kill the competition. A good solid product now at cost or less it would make up for it. But no one will do that sadly.
Sorry for the rant thanks for reading, thumbs up and hope you're channel grows and you go further than I can walk.

The credit is available for sales made beginning Jan. 1, 2023, and the credit sunsets in 2032. I expect this mower will last several seasons with decent care. czcams.com/users/postUgkx1VWTrayKBdCKAjzAcZ_Eg4dhHTae3LkN also recommend Also, I ran across the problem with it not starting the 2nd time I used it. There is a safety switch which is pushed in by the chute or mulching piece being attached to the deck. I took the cover off and it wouldn't start. Put it back on, no problem. It takes only a minute with 2 easily accessible wingnuts and no tools. This mower starts up first crank each time and it is a joy to use. It also mows in reverse by putting the key to the reverse area after starting and pushing in the triangular button. It will stay in reverse mode until you turn it off. All in all, for my homeowner needs, I really like this mower-and at 70 bucks a cut here in Miami, it's already more than 1/3 paid for itself in a month.

Copied from Keith Ori bc it’s valuable information…
One thing that would be helpful is to also tell us which lawn mowers qualify for tax credit. Here is the qualification info that I found> Credit is 30% per mower, with a max of $7,500 per lawn mower. The credit is available for sales made beginning Jan. 1, 2023, and the credit sunsets in
2032. These mowers must be less than 14,000
Ibs. and have a battery capacity of not less than
    7-kilowatt hours.

Homeowners will always find $2000 for something if they want something. They’ll spend that on a TV, a couple of phones, cigarettes, a vacation, bicycles, jewelry, a motorcycle, you name it, people will buy it.
And you BSing people when you claim they’ll only mow a half an acre. Most of these will do 3-4 acres.

@@wambam1741 I don’t know how much property people have. I don’t know everyone on this planet. Never said I did know. The Electric mowers I’ve looked at will do 1-2 acres. You can get a gas 0 turn for around the $3K mark and they are made out of steel. These electric mowers seam to be made all out of plastic. They are much cheaper to make so why charge $8K for them? Don’t make any sense.

@@stgraves260 you’re just making up you observations about price, build quality and the pricing. You’re looking at low end machines and falsely giving them high prices
You’re looking at the cheap machines around $3K but claiming they cost $8K which isn’t even remotely accurate.
1-The low priced ones that you’ll seen in places like Lowe’s for $3K will do 1-2 acres. The ones around $6K do 4K
2 - The claim threat are made of entirely plastic, is completely bogus. I’ve owned lots of riding mowers all but one gas and one electric. They’re all made of steel and plastic. They use on. There’s no such things as an all plastic mower. The shroud that goes over the engine or batteries is. The cup holders and the dash are and that’s where it ends.
The cheap mowers have stamped decks. I watched a stamped deck eventually collapse under the weight of the pulley on a gas mower. They use thinner steel on top of that. They have no lectronic feedback and what it.
The more expensive mowers in the 6000 range have a fabricated deck that means thicker steel. That means it was built by hand and welded together.
In fact the entire unit is likely a thicker gauge steel.
Those extra dollars buy more features too like apps for example and more custom settings and a better warranty.
That’s why the higher price tag.

Lowe’s has a 42” John Deer 20HP zero turn for $3200. Model z315e. It’s gas but it’s also half the price. I’m not saying gas is better or worse, I’m just say electric is not worth twice the price. Husqvarna z254 54” deck 26HP Kohler zero turn for $3400. Then you have the Arienis Icon 52” for $4300 and the Arienis Edge 52” for $3700. With the Deere, you mentioned a "con" as being that it's a stamped deck... If you're using an electric mower, you probably don't need to be mowing stuff that would require a fabbed deck. After working on mowers for years, I've come to the conclusion that practically no consumer mower should have a fabbed deck because people will use them like a brush cutter rather than a lawn mower.
All that said, I've yet to see an electric ztr that's reasonably priced.

Do not buy an electric ZT unless you have money to burn. The non-joystick Ryobi's are already bricks with awful batteries. The Cub Cadet is a complete piece of junk. The Deere's are not made by Deere. EGO seems good at first but you'll run into issues with the motors shutting down to "protect themselves". Currently have the 54" joystick Ryobi which is very easy to drive, but the software is crap and I've already had to replace one of the $900 batteries within the first month. 80% chance it's getting returned.

I prefer battery for maintenance reasons along with many other people and that seems to be enough for many people to pay a lot more money. I don't think much of anything is built like it used to be.
