I appreciate Jim being willing to be raw and honest about his experience at SNL. Also, the guy who stole Jim's idea from the server, and told him not to go to Lorne, and basically got him fired was Adam McKay. He was head writer at SNL at the time.
I KNEW IT 💩 Talk about a blood sport
Here's Adam McKay's version of the story from an improv4humans podcast episode in 2013. Jim sounds like a paranoid unreliable narrator to me, and the grudge he clearly still holds is kind of pathetic. And much like the rest of the interview, Jim refuses to consider that maybe his own actions have consequences and that he is not just a perpetual victim.
"The network made Lorne hire Jim Breuer when we came on. It was when the show’s ratings were getting kind of low. So Jim then comes on the show, and Jim’s a great guy. I had no problem with Jim whatsoever. Completely cool guy, wrote sketches, [I] put him in sketches. Zero problem with him at all. And he actually has a good run on the show. He does “Joe Pesci Show,” which was a huge hit, he did this “Goat Boy” thing. Very popular … he has a good run and then he starts doing Half Baked and I think he has another movie in development. And you see this with people sometimes on there; they’re like halfway out the door. And Jim kind of hit that point, so Lorne started saying, “What about Jim Breuer? It seems like he’s not totally here, and some of the writers were complaining. He’s not fully committed to the show, and I was like, “Yeah, seems like he’s had his run.” … Really what was happening was Lorne never got over that he was forced to hire him, was happy that he did well, and was going to the room, “Does anyone agree?” And I was like, “Yeah, I agree,” kind of naively. So I think when the word got passed to Jim, it was like, “McKay did this.” Now, in fairness to Jim, I definitely thought it was time for him to move on, there’s no question about it."
"They never really tell you why when you get fired. You get a call from your agent saying they’re not picking up your contract and then, maybe you can talk to one of the producers under Lorne and that’s kind of all you get and it’s always really vague … I did want to just make the simple point clear that I did not hire or fire people. That was Lorne Michaels. I wish I had; I argued sometimes that I should have been able to, and Lorne would go, “What the fuck are you talking about? It’s my show,” and he was right."

@@talktodankYeah, I'm believing McKay on this one. Jim doesn't exactly have the best track record when it comes to anything that involves factual information.
I believe McKay too, but even if they hated each other, McKay has more talent in his pinkie toe than Breuer has in his whole body so he was the one to keep.
@@talktodank Jim Breuer and Norm MacDonald were just about the ONLY two funny cast members of the new mid and late '90s cast. It was a huge mistake to get rid of both of them. SNL has been unfunny GARBAGE since 1995 except for rare exceptions like those two men. The show has been so bad that I'm not surprised that Lorne and all the people greenlighting the dreck they put on agreed that it was a good idea to fire some of their only funny cast members.
Prayers for Dana and family!
I admire Jim's mannerism, and his cammeraisms
So I listen to the entire podcast, Weil, driving lift, lol, and when I discovered this podcast, and especially this episode with these three, before I hit play, I said out loud, OMFG this is gonna be hilarious, no doubt, never disappointed!
We love you guys. Our support is with you both & our prayers are with Dana and his family. 🙏✨️🥰
I laughed for at least 10 minutes after he said he told someone to stain their kitchen! 😂
Thanks David . We’re still thinking of Dana
I want to listen but I need to see facial expressions please add video
much love to dana and his family - we're with them
Th writer-director that Jim is talking about is Adam McKay. He named him on WTF.
Disappointing but i can see it
Thanks for the post. I was definitely looking for someone that would know. I was happy it wasn’t John Manley. I like him and didn’t want to have a back story about him being a dick.
It was cool to hear Jim again. His old show from the Sirius show got me through a lot of driving times
I was just thinking it might have been Adam McKay .
Was most likely political prejudice and cancel culture. McKay is a raging leftist and Breuer obviously is not. I don't know how political Breuer was back then but I'm sure he hated political correctness. it's not surprising that the two most anti-PC guys from that era, Jim and Norm, were fired. This was the beginning of the entertainment industry getting woke and soft.
Well the tea was gulped on this one. I'll have another.
"Going back to your high school on a Sunday afternoon..."
Beautifully said.
Hell yeah, man. Breuer is great. Actually very underutilized on SNL.
We need video!!! Don't be cheap.
Fun Episode. I love how the SNL alums share their experiences and can relate to each others stories. Love hearing how each of them has different little bits that they remember about bits they did.
I love this pod, it makes me happy, and whoever Dana & David have on, I will listen!
Agreed!
Same! I just WISH it was video'd!
I'm from Brooklyn and went to the Green Acres Mall and Sunrise Multiplex in Valley Stream alot. So its so funny to hear that Spade thinks that Valley Stream sounds Californian or made up.
HAMMER ! Loved this one!
Man I miss that Sirius show.
come on guys, film it and show us!
Lmao love that bit with Scorsese and David Lean at the end.
The party in the stomach bit from years ago is still my favorite of his. It can be found on the Tube of You. 😎 Was great to have him on! A great physical comic.
ive seen jim live on stage a few times over the years. jim can read the phone book and be funny. he is so funny in that he doesnt have to try or even tell jokes. true talent.
Best to you Dana, Dave I wish there was a collective of all the Hollywood minutes - my favorite but they are fading in my memory...
Just got on CZcams. Guaranteed someone's put them together. If not, they're definitely individually up there.
Look I'm david !! Beep bop boop
Luv Jim
"He's a friend of mine..... " - doesn't know the mall story.... meanwhile I'm a guy who's seen or heard him a few times on TV and radio and I know the mall story and the pizza man saga by heart.
46:33 this is one of your best pods, idk what other ppl r talking about.
Breuer was great on SNL in the 90s, but some comedians aren't suited for more than ensemble sketch comedy, and that's where he really shines.
David Thank U for the short Lil update on Dana..... Damn
THANK YOU for losing the laughers. Both shows are very funny with just you guys.
Video already!!!!
He does a great Jack Nicolson. I wish he had done that on the show.
50:47 THE TRUTH… finally! 🤣
Oh I'm fucking crying
The Andrew Dice Clay clock is now at 475 days.
Schwinn Scramblers were the sh#$!!!!! Had the red one with yellow mags
I loved the goat man
51:56 so glad they did
Awesome! Been waiting for you to have Jim Breuer on!! Loved it!!
Please talk with these guys about the West Side story spoof… hilarious…
59:15 vicariously living through Jim
So, who was the weasel writer who back-stabbed Breuheimer? Jim is a freak of nature, a good guy loyal to family, and a sensitive dude. Super under-rated. Norm loved him.
Read the comment above that tells the whole story.
53:11 😂not too bad of a Lorne impression tbf
55:17 naw the process of figuring one another out was probably more beneficial than had you understood what u were building in that first Tom Hanks show
What about Brewhaha. 16:02
Maybe this Sears John struck a sweet deal, paid off his debts, quit his high stress job, then wanted to settle in to a low responsibility job in the 'burbs where he could meet high school broads and pay for cheese steaks. Jim is doing God's work, keeping our daughters and cheesesteaks safe.
oh wow its the guy from the alex jones show!
Oh Jesus! I had no idea what happened to him and his family. Oh God. So sorry sir. Please try taking some strength in knowing that many love you for your tireless years of standup and taking us out of our souls for a bit. You healed us with laughter now somehow it's your turn. R.I.P. D.C.
I luv sears sale rack 70 % off
What about "Breu-Ha-Ha"?

Me too. Hate that

1:01:44 💯 1:01:48 ❤️
What was Kevin Smith fired from? I didn't understand what he was saying...
Touchstone made a pilot for Clerks: The TV Show in 1995. They didn't even ask Kevin Smith to help develop it. He eventually got involved, but they rejected a script he wrote. The actors who did Dante and Randal in the movie auditioned for their parts, but were rejected in favor of Andrew Lowery and Jim Breuer.
It's no surprise that Jim and Norm both got fired. They were the two most politically incorrect people on SNL at that time. The late '90s was when political correctness, the granddaddy of woke, began to take firm hold on the entertainment industry. Adam McKay himself is a raging leftist ideologue, so it's no surprise he was involved in forcing out Jim.
1:07:49 🤣🤣
57:47 57:55 😭
1:00:30 there are absolutely worse decisions to make. You took it and ran with it - saying that as someone much younger (😂) then your expected demo
Good for u
Love it!
58:24 whoa 58:34 🔫 💥💥💥
Jim’s great 😎
54:40 RIP
Is Jim talking about Chris Katan?
Who got him fired? No, it was Adam McKay. He’s named him in other interviews.
51:11 😂 that’s a whole character
27:18 I could tell y'all were cracking up at his expressions
52:51 scurred
51:35 complex AF
BRUHAHA
I caught some of his show on CZcams and that first 15-20 minutes out of the gate he crushed! It was irreverent, edgy and funny…didn’t tiptoe around the issues. 👍
Breuer is so underrated. A true American comic hero. Bout time boys
Jeezus 1:06:17
Greetings from Mexico City!!!
When’s Adam McKay gonna be on?
Jim really told us who he is with that bomb threat story. He pulled a dangerous prank that lead to a man losing his job, and then expressed absolutely no empathy or remorse for the man, instead says that the man probably deserved to lose his job because he is already a failure. Jim just mocked the man and disregarded any responsibility for his own actions. And more broadly, he looks down on people who he thinks aren't successful enough in life. This told me everything I need to know about Jim Breuer.
I think you have TDS and hate Jim for not being brainwashed like you. Your entire comment is rationalization. You have cognitive dissonance.
People sometimes say stupid things without really thinking about them. I've done it. You've probably done it. I wouldn't judge him too harshly over that. Now maybe you just don't like him to begin with.
@@cwhite1741Or maybe it's completely normal for someone to judge people based on their actions. You can keep forgiving people for "just saying stupid things", but when they keep doing it, that's who they are.
Jim.is a crackpot Christian. I can't take him seriously. He's a conspiracy wing nut.
19:27 this is def an Arnold impression, Jim😅
💚
Are there video versions of Fly on the Wall? How can I find them
23:39 WOW 😂
Jim Brewer great guest !
35:47 that's how u get stuck in a bubble imo
16:21 😂
"and maybe more animated" wtf...now I don't know if I even believe it. This seems to far fetched.
Honestly I've never heard of this comedian , but I like his energy and vibe and he most likely is a good live act. He looks like Brian Adam's, a Adam's music skit could work for him.likeability is a 9/10, Dave and Dana a solid 10/10.
He's a brilliant storyteller and has a couple specials up on CZcams.
I believe there was a time he opened & warmed up the Metallica concerts! He’s the best 😅
Extraordinary men, tells it like it is, best son, husband, dad and very talented and caring and independent thinker
59:46 i h8 politics eh
Jim is the funnirst guy right now. Luv im
When Jim's wife got cancer over a decade ago and they started discussing how to keep her alive he broke out in this fantastic parrot like impression where he screamed trust the science trust the science
Not even close to the same thing.
I liked the part when he screeched out his asshole for 5 minutes and then called his microphone a retard. Jim truly is a brave hero patriot.
A swing and a miss.
Are you a bot or just evil?
@@tatumhildebrand5397 maybe COVID denialism is also a low thing to joke about. Over 1 million dead. Proportionately, making fun of one person having cancer is nothing compared to that.
23:05 NO DANAAAA😖😩
Finally, I've been waiting for Jimmy.
Jim's bit on Slayer fans and the nursing home mosh pit. I love that. I will be in the geriatric mosh pit.
From the thumbnail, Jim Breuer looks like he could star in the next Hitler biopic.
21:04 somehow swerved the no-fly list
22:22 yikes
