I almost hit the roof seeing the spider on your shoulder! What a beautiful harvest, and those puppies too cute!
What spider????? I missed that in editing, thank goodness because, well I love what spiders do, I simply cannot stand them on me. Had I known I would have run screaming and maybe saying a few words I shouldn’t have.😂
@@LittleMountainRanch i saw a spider on your back, then a minute later on your shoulder. plz be careful. check 13:40 and 14:28.
Fortunately, we don't have any poisonous spiders here. Phew!
Oh, & I LOVE your garden & how the kids & you all work together. My grandkids help in the garden & help with the canning & preserving.
I feel so very blessed for these memories in the making. :)
Me too! I did a canning lesson with a few the other day and hey we’re so into it.
Omg I was freaking out about the spider on your arm @ 14:29
🕷 Did you even notice? Bugs are the hardest part of gardening for me.
I don’t and I didn’t even notice when I was editing. Yuck!
Beautiful harvest, Chelsea! What a great gardener you are, along with your adorable helpers. Thanks for the winter storage tips.
Thank you!❤️
You need a miners helmet with a light on it to hang next to the cellar door, for when you go out there. Love, love, love your root cellar!
That’s the best idea ever! I’m going to find one.
Your harvest is amazing!! Thanks for clarifying the difference with Turnip and Rutabaga - I always wondered about that. I loved seeing the whole family participate in the harvest - great memories.
Chickens love all those leafy tops also.
Great amount of veggies. The garden is amazing. So lovely to see the kiddies helping their mum.Take care xxxx
Hugs, Joanne!
I envy you so much with your huge garden
Your little girl is so cute and it's funny how she can't stand the basil smell...
I absolutely LOVE your root cellar!! There is one at a house hear here (not anything like yours I'm sure) but I still gaze longing at it every time I drive by it. Jim has promised to build one one for me. We have the perfect place. I am SO excited to finally get on our land and continue this journey we are on. Thank YOU for all your inspiration!! oxoxox
Chelsea, love your vegetable harvest. Your garden beds did really well. Having extra hands to help harvest truly does make picking go faster.
It really does - I’d be in trouble if I had to do it all myself. Lol
Fantastic garden ❤️ours is doing fantastic as well. We just got a lot of rain so the weeds got ahead of us. We also have 3 apricot trees that are absolutely loaded!! We have a 100 year old apple tree that my husbands Great Grandparents planted that is still producing and a plum tree. Time to get out there and pick and put it all up.
Apricots, how I miss growing apricots!
Wow your garden is incredible ❤️. Thank you for the look around and info
Thank you so much!
LOVED THIS VIDEO!!!! AND YEST I'M YELLING THIS!! hehehe My root veggies are far from being ready. Great job kids!!! You are SO! blessed :) You are rich in Family, Harvest, Property and so much more! :)
Awe, thank you!❤️
Abundance is a beautiful thing and a great reward!
Oh my goodness, I so want a guardian livestock puppy! :D So cute! Those beets look really awesome.
Aren’t they just the sweetest!
Thank you, love, love, your videos!!!!!
Thanks so much, Joan!❤️
Nice harvest day...
Puppies are cuties..
Have a wonderful day 🌻🌻
On a serious note...nice harvest!! I'm just one person...so I do have to work out how much I need before it doesn't become waste when growing produce in the garden!!
Thank you so much!
Suggestions: Have your husband drill holes in sides of your wooden crates and make small rope handles for easier handling for everyone. Set up metal open-air shelving, like oven racks, in the root cellar to sit your cubes on to have more floor space. Use another one for all the squashes and root veggies. Might keep down moulds & spores spreading. Just found your channel and love it. Love your big family. Will love going back to your beginning videoes over winter. (I'm 77 years old and has 3 boys & 3 girls.) Brings back so many memories!!! Blessings and protection for you all.
Thank you so much for those helpful tips! I would love so much to sit down and have a cup of tea with you and learn all you have to teach.
Kate always impresses me with how helpful and great she is. And, your youngest is adorable. All your kids are great, but they are the 2 we see the most. Oh, those puppies. ❤ garden is fantastic. How did the kids' pool turn out?
I try to keep the kids out of the videos for the most part. A few little snippets now and then is the most I do these days. Kate is 17 and makes the choice herself to be on camera.
The pool was a bit of a fiasco and needed to be taken down and will be reinstalled next summer,.
Very Beautiful Garden .. and children helping is children learning . God Bless you all my friend
I was really looking forward to harvest videos. Thank you for sharing. More like this for sure please :-)
You got it!😊
Looks wonderful! First Harvest Blessings!
Hugs!
Beautiful garden ,what a sweet little helping out with the tomato's
Isn't she just the sweetest?
Roasted rutabaga "fries" are a favorite of my family. Great harvest!
Nice
love your abundance!!! (garden & family :)
❤️❤️❤️
You are such an inspiration! I ❤ little mountain ranch!
Awe thank you so much!❤️
You are so lucky to not have the cabbage moth, very jealous, I can't grow any of the kales or cabbages without covers. So pretty when they are just out in the garden.
I just happened to come across your delightful video, I'm looking forward to seeing more of the way you store your harvest . I have always wanted a root cellar, because I too love growing so many root veggies. I have a cold room and it says very cold through the winter months, but come early summer it gets warm. I live in SO Oregon @ about 4,444ft elevation and it's hard to find the right above ground veg because of the frosts That sneek up on you every once in a while, anyway God bless you and your family looking forward to more of your videos. Thank you for being so generous with your time and your family😍
Welcome to our channel!😊
I love that you have a root cellar. 🤗 Our house uses to have one but the previous owner filled it in. 😕
You could also spray with vinegar. After watching your video I found I couldn't quit brushing off my shoulders. I hate spiders.
Hi Chelsea, we have also had a lot of rain in Scotland but not much heat or sun. My cauliflower all bolted when they were only the size of a coin. But my Golden Acre summer cabbage has done ok. I harvested today my first red cabbage Rouge Tete Noir. I have no root cellar so I freeze them and ferment them. My runner beans are ok and I also have a few not climbing purple flat beans that are doing well, but I only have about 6 plants of each. My courgettes are doing fine but a lot of the winter squashes are falling off after a few days. I think that they are not pollinated enough. My early potatoes have done fine, but my main crop are dying off too soon, so not a very good harvest for them. All of them grown in 10 litre pots or 4 potatoes in a 30 litre pot. My tomatoes are doing ok and I have made my first batch of tomato sauce. Thanks for showing your garden and harvest. Eveline
Hand pollinating squash is really easy if you want to give it a try? Just take the male flowers, the ones without the fruit at the base and rub the stamen (the bit with the pollen) inside the fruiting flower.❤️
Little Mountain Ranch I will give that a try😊
I live in Alabama and we cook the tops of turnips and rutabagas if you grow them. Do y'all just throw them away?
We eat them early in the season, but I have so many other greens in the garden this time of year that we just compost the ones we don’t like as much.
Beautiful garden
We call them swede in Ireland.
14.35 do you have. Spider on your shoulder? Lol
Thanks for this video. I've missed your videos
Thanks Cynthia!❤️
GREAT CROP
Great video💥
Omg, I just stumbled upon your channel and what I love is that I have just purchased a piece of land up in 150 mile house and I can’t believe there is a channel from that part of the world☺️☺️just a question, people talk about having a lot of deer ticks in the grasses can you tell me how bad they are. Love your channel and that garden so lovely. Can’t wait to start mine
Welcome!!!
The ticks can be really bad in some areas, particularly in the long grasses in the spring, but in other areas, like where we are, we only see a few every year. Are you out towards Horsefly? They really aren’t bad out there.
Back from a summer break and so happy to see this update. Your garden is magnificent! What do you do with all that kale? Freeze it? Looking forward to seeing your full root cellar and other preserving conquests.
Hey friend! Hope your summer was awesome.
Freeze and dry.
❤️
@@LittleMountainRanch A fantastic summer was had by all! Thank you. Hope yours has been wonderful as well. Harvesting, freezing, canning, drying...you're Wonder Woman!
PUPPIES!!!! :)
Hey Chelsea so good to see you again. You need to come to Tennessee for a visit I would love to get to know you. Anyway have you ever done do you hydrating on some of your food? It would be a great way to store it and use in winter soups and stews and casseroles and it will last longer and hold its nutrients.
I dehydrate a fair bit but usually not as much as I can.
New to your channel. Great video!
Welcome and thank you!😊
Why do I keep thinking you look like Zoe Bell the actress?? LOL!!
I’ll take that as a compliment!😊
I love beets. How deep do you sow the seeds?
Totally distracted by the rather large spider on her right arm at 14:28
Do y'all eat your turnip and beet greens? They are delicious and a free bonus to all your hard work. Beet greens are basically just chard (both plants are from the same family) and can be cooked and frozen just like chard can.
Funny thing is I had no idea until you guys pointed it out! Thank goodness because spiders make my skin crawl. And yes, we do eat them early in the season, but this time of year we have so many greens in abundance so we compost the extras.
Do your chickens, or even your cows, not eat some of the greens from your garden???
Can these less than ideal tasting old veggies be fed to livestock? Is there any nutritional value to it? Could you give the tops to chickens or geese? Thanks
The livestock are getting their normal feed and these extra veggies if they want to munch on them. I’d only use them as feed in case of an emergency - I just like knowing how long things and store and still be edible, even if a little. Nutritionally deficient. And yes, I have some tops to the ducks and chickens, but there was way more than they could eat so I completed the rest to make soil for next years garden.
what variety of broccoli do you plant? thanks
Do you save seeds, or is that extra work you choose to skip? Seeing the reddish and yellow carrots made me think of it, wondering if you’d get a new “heirloom” variety that you developed yourselves.
I am just starting seed saving this year, but will be sticking to the easy ones to start. The carrots are an heirloom variety I got from West Coast Seeds.
I do a pickled cauliflower. Do mice get in your root cellar and if so how do you keep them out?
Once in a while - traps are my best defence.
@@LittleMountainRanch I deleted my other comment as it was put twice but your sweet pickle cauliflower ones sound yummy!
Wondering about the pups. Where are you located and price? Thanks!

Girl!!!!! There was a huge spider on your arm and you didn’t even care!!!😳
Because I’m just so chill like that. Actually, if I’d known I’d have been swatting and saying some words not fit for young ears.😂
y'all don't eat/preserve any of those veg tops/greens? they're yummy n nutritious 2 lol
We just have so many other greens this time of year so the extras go to the chickens.
