Always had a soft spot for this ship but recently I'm wondering did it have any place it's lightly armoured bug with not that many guns....
Surely it was cheaper to build one battleship just as powerful or 3-4 heavy cruisers either way the repulse was a bit under armed or armoured for anything except being an escort that hoped not to meet anything big but it was big but not tough or punchy..
With such basic guns as was the tech of the day surely triple turrets would be more useful just a barrel extra per turret for such a big ship & she could have been a contender.
No comments on planes sunk her etc pls or I'll say yes all big gun ships were out of date could have had a Yamato style refit (drastic change to armed meant) I'm referring to repulse as her original design for foreseen use.i think she was under gunned....

Their speed was almost unmatched throughout their entire career.
They were more than a match for the German Deutschland Class and even the Scharnhorst sisters (both ran away from Renown).
The RN got fantastic service from Renown.

Underguned? Repulse? She was armed with 6x 381 mm guns and those are the best guns in terms range and reliability ...HMS Warspite scored the longest hit ,ship to ship in history of naval warfware !! Only biger british guns were on HMS Rodney and Nelson battleships 406 mm guns ,however i dont know performance of those 406 mm guns tho( range ,precision ,radius of exlosion etc)
