    I'm sure your ney tutorials in English are deeply appreciated by many in the West such as myself! You explain everything in a very clear way, and I'm really starting to consider buying one of your plastic ones. :)
    Thanks, and i look forward to more excellent videos in the future.
    Peace!

  • @clh6879
    @clh6879 Před 2 lety

    The Segah note you're playing here is rather low, it's a quartertone (half flat), not a comma. It's 350 cents (likely a bit lower than even that) from your Rast note.

    great stuff.. been wanting some simple maqam explanations for ages..
    What tuning are you using for your instruments.. ?
    I make the main notes about a quarter tone sharp in A 440
    I presume the 'comma' refer to the temperament.. (Sorry new to this.)
    In which case it's a quarter tone.. so not that slight.. ?
    The F comes out at western concert pitch.

      @@nirisadeh ok very interesting answer, i have always heard that maqams are not transportable in other keys, like for example in Raga music that is the system that i know better and studiyng.. I'm looking for similarities and differences between the two systems, which interest me both very much, i play Bansuri flute but i would to start with ney and kawala.. so the rast maqam it's similar to khafi thaat in hindustani music..

      Most music instruments are product of couple cultures together. It would ve unwise to claim that its originated at one nation with nationalist ideas. Theres just few differences at playing (or blowing) styles. Even thought history has showns us bloody violent wars with each other. But there was also cultural peaceful and sweet interactions like music. Even though i find our ney style(turkish) is the most lovely but there are also iranian, turkish and arabian,.. styles all are great in their own perspective. Salam from Turkey :)
