as someone who has played every kind of ark over the years i can tell you that people have always stopped playing for these reasons.
the major thing that has changed is the experience for new players. firstly, snail have thought that they lose nothing by ignoring the more dedicated players, however the greater reputation of ark is very damaged now. secondly, they now have a worse reputation from all the lies and manipulation.
it is still possible to enjoy asa or ase, i have been having fun on arkpoc without buying bobs tales or pyro, however i think soon it will be completely impossible to get any good times out of asa, no matter how good you are, with this feeling that they want to ruin your experience to see how much youll pay.
snail are laser focussed on ark 2, the only chance asa has is if ark 2 flops and they return to asa however by then it will likely be ruined by microtransactions that the playerbase all throw their money at. if it were snail in the wrong it would be easier to change, however it is the playerbase that enables them to do these things.

I can completely agree with the problems you pointed out I would even say you were quite soft with most of them. Personally I mostly enjoy watching the videos that where made whit engagement because it was fun making them I had the feeling you where really enjoying soulmask. So I would say try new things as long as you have fun I will enjoy your content
@mariolukas584 only issue is soul mask is black listed by yt because of the taming of people. Kinda like how Conan exiles did.

I second this. It's near impossible to sit down and actually grind mats if you do have a life. When I was jobless I enjoyed playing and watching my acros grow. Now they are long dead by the time I get home with 8 troughs full even adoles apparently eat so much . I couldn't take it anymore and single player doesn't feel legit to me cuz you can easily just start spawning shit and get carried away. Then youll have abunch of fake non legit dinos you can't show off to anyone good job

I personaly left because of the road map that attracted i was hyped by the plan they had to release evry 3 months a map for 2 years. They ruined my enjoyability by adding content who created delays i alrdy have 20k hours on steam on ASE. I kindly hanged my gloves over delays

People just don’t want to spend thousands of hours anymore for it to be wiped in 20 mins by an unemployed no life if they go have a shower. Ark was at its best in the first year in my opinion

Its the same way for rust. I love ark & rust both are great in their own ways. But literally, ill soend hours on the game vibin. Not a worry in the world bout a raid, soon as i hop off someone magically decide to come raid me. Impeccable timing

I am a veteran Ark player, and I totally understand why people get burnt out on it. I played ASE PvE, and PvP for 4000+ Hours. To avoid quitting ark forever I take long breaks from it. It's still a great game, and when more maps come out it will be fun to explore them!
I don't play official, because I still want to have a life outside of games like Ark lol. Playing on a private server with slightly boosted rates is the right way to go If you don't wanna spend you're whole life away on ark.

My reason was meshing, s-l-o-w admin or pocket admins, and too much insiding.

@@WillyWylde1919 on official every tribe gets inside at least once a week and if your asking what an inside is. It's where your tribe mate waits for everyone to log off then blows everything up steals it and leaves the tribe.
@@WillyWylde1919 its when you add a random to your tribe and they log-on after you leave and turn off all your defenses so their friends can raid you. Or they just take a lot if not all of your stuff and leave.
small tip, Ark is not only a multiplayer game, I have played Ark single player on and off for about 6 year now

I used to enjoy single player for a while. Ever since I grinded with mega tribes on officials and had crazy pvp moments. It kind of ruined single player for me. As it feels there’s nothing to work for or any zones to dominate or Control. I just resorted to Boosted PVP servers
I have never enjoyed single player. I like interacting with other cool players and seeing their builds.
I still think about coming back to ASE but thanks to current meta I never decide to go for it. Since when did we just accept grapple-glitching being a feature? Desmos completely break the balance by being so tanky, having insane player picking radius and being able to pick while diving? Kinda miss the golden pre-genesis days.

@@Atmatan_Kabbaherab had no real issues? Reaper where easy to counter with plant z and comp… with manas they needed the breath range nerfed before gen 1 so the pvp at the time was way better then spam shadowmanes n nets with ligtning wyvs.

Cause the copy and pasted the game with a texture pack, and fixed nothing, actually made the game worst

If you don't play on console, maybe, but the mods alone completely change the game in every good way possible.
I play PVE, but pillards everywhere, can't build, can't do anything. So i leave.
Yeah that's the one thing I found annoying because it's like the player's base is situated in one area, and they got large swaths of pillards all over in any direction in a 10-15 minute sprint from their base. I understand not wanting to have neighbors but to put pillards where you're straight up not going to be at any time soon or at all is unnecessary
This can be summarised to every PVP Survival game, not only Ark. People should know by now before playing a survival game.
I’m gonna be honest. Ark blossomed in Covid when people had time. This game requires dedication and time to have fun and succeed and people are either burnt out from playing so much or are too busy to play now. Every single player that I know that no longer plays, (and there’s a lot of them) left because of this, and not one of them doesn’t enjoy ASA or thinks the games bad/p2w.

Personally I refused to buy ASA simply because they tried to use discusting methods to squeeze as much money out of the release as possible and don't fix known game breaking bugs for ages and the communication and support from them decreased rapidly wildcard has a parasite and a bad one
@@mariolukas584 everybody engaged enough with ark saw this stuff coming a mile off, the reason people still pay is to try and have some fun. although hopefully large amounts of players stop paying snail to kill the game at some point, would be nice aha
i think with ark 2 failing they will have to seriously reconsider everything.
I play on a server thats a no wipe has good rates and you can only raid on purge weekends. Its nice.

I feel like if they added a way to be pinged on your phone if a structure takes a significant amount of damage or breaks it would help with people staying up to monitor their base (kind of like the email youd get for tripwire alarms back in the day)

Wouldn’t work that well because you’ll be getting notified if any of your structures get destroyed like spam clearers, wild dinos and auto decay.

If I am remembering correctly there is a mod for asa that connects your tribe log to your discord so you can either get notified or watch your tribe log.
Its verry simple why every1 left: the game is shit one of the biggest mistakes wild card made is to delete old official from ASE .ASA ots simply just shit.
The player base had gotten older, and no longer have the hours to dump into the game. The new “game” for teenagers that have the hours is put into games like Fortnite
I am an ARKaholic with over 35k hours between 3 accounts. I have never felt burned out or stopped playing mainly because ARK the game is awesome but I keep coming back for the community. My friends that keep me coming back. Recently I was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer with an inoperable tumor so I am dyeing so I have not been able to play so I am having ARK withdrawals. I hope to be back playing and streaming this awesome game soon. I love your videos.

The games balance is also shot. People have the metas down and late game objectives are now first session mandates... like heavies and tek turrets.
Don't even know why they bothered keeping the level system if they were planning to keep note run experience points

Ya, I have a job and they literally just wait until I am offline, it's sad. Some servers offer ORP, but it's nearly impossible to find a good server as is. Official just takes too much time for people with jobs or school.
A significant number of your issues are caused by playing PVP. You should really give PVE a try. During the video, you built a beautiful base in single player. You could build it on a PVE server without being raided. On the contrary, some survivors will appreciate your building.
They need content like all content creators they only play the game a couple of times or whatever is trending ... then forget about it 🤷♂️

PvP players cant play PVE for more than 20 minutes, imagine being sick of a game and then playing it in boring mode.
Nah, nowadays bases get raided in pve by hackers. This month I have had to re start like 5 times bc of hackers.

I’ve seen soooo so many people, some true Arkers with over 3500 hours, others beach bobs simply give up on this game the new game just isn’t the same, besides the in game bugs, pvp you can lose everything, pve everything is pillar’d 😒 and people really just aren’t interested in searching forever for a good base spot, or risking it all in pvp. “Unrewarding job” hits the nail 👍🏼 to end it on a good note, I really enjoyed ark, the more x2 was nice, and I never ran into any hackers at least 🙏🏼
The game is so buggy! That is why players who don't mind the huge learning curve give up on the game. An example; I just tamed a Manta and within less than 2 minutes the game bugged out and killed it for no reason I could see. What kind of crap is that? That is just one example. Dang, that is a lot of windows.
This is exactly the case for me, except I lost tames I spent time working with because of some weird water glitch. Watching your animals die in front of your eyes with full health and full inventory of food is inexcusable. Then their stash disappears.
In addition to the glitches killing hours of work, there are the poorly functioning mods, or the mods work fine and the game gets an update and your death recovery mod stops without notice.
Have any multiplayer survival games found the secret sauce to the game/life balance while still allowing for offline raiding and competitiveness? Genuinely curious. It seems like an unsolvable problem.

There is ways. Live on a quetz they last months sometimes. Don't get so caught up on what you don't have in the game. Or play in a big tribe that's not demanding. There are many out there that don't expect much grinding from ya. That's for official. You could always play unofficial as well.
Offline raiding and game/life balance can't be used in the same sentence. Sure, some servers have implemented ORP to where it's like 3x turret damage and structure resistance but that doesn't stop exploits like tunneling or body blocking.
The issue is the PvP survival community doesn't really understand what "competitive" is. Competition typically means fighting against people of almost equal caliber/challenge, but by their very nature most Survival games, to those that have the time and numbers go the spoils.
Games that implement PvP zones are the closest you get to fair but competitive. Where the best resources/items are located. A game that's shutting down soon called Survivors of Mars actually almost did it right. Open world base building, PvE, and a shifting PvP zone you needed to go to to actually progress.
Space Engineers and Eve Online ironically have a sense of balance too, given their scale and scope.
Ultimately, you're likely right that it's an unsolvable problem. It's wanting your ice, hot. Can't keep it the way it is for long without fundamentally changing its form and function.

Another thing i forgot to mention is the server options. you either host your own which you might as well just play single player or fork over the 25$ for a service provider you dont like. so they also alienated thousands of people from playing with friends and others because they are forced to pay 25$ for a server they dont want. like why would i want to pay 25$ to play with one or two friends? to adjust settings to be a human game? i played ase on ps4 xbox series s and pc all combined over 3k hours.
I have been playing single player. Game thru me out few days ago . Then it would not let me respawn. When I finally got back in on new character I was booted for no reason in less than 10 min running around on beach. So frustrated.

Was in my mid 20's when Ark first came out. Played the game all the way up until aberration. All those years of grinding has led me to now enjoy videos on Ark as opposed to playing 😊
Balance in pvp is what I'm waivering on. How does a person with a new character compete with the people who transfer a character that has everything tek gear unlocked. Heat vision through terrain is B's if you are prim locked.
- ASA runs horrible, even on high end systems. wildcard never bothered upgrade ASE (which was running UE 4.5 which from 2015m never bothered upgrade UE 4.x )
- ASE was lazy ported to UE 5.1. Not 5.2, they lied. That why Asa sucks.
- ASE runs better thus why many ark players went back to ASE.
- Wildcard is very greedy. They said they never go pay to win/MTX. They lied
- own by snail games. A very greasy/corrupt company. Who lost billions of $$$$ on EV cars.
( some say that was ARK money that they lost. ).
Thats why we have single player. We can choose when to play and how long for. Yes I don't have the time for onlune anymore, so you miss out on the community aspect. But in single player I ca put it down and pick it up whenever I want and be in the exact same place where I left off.
I preferred original ARK compared to Ascended. I took about a 6 month break and when I came back the servers were gone, that’s when I left ARK

It’s not only players.. I host a dedicated PvP server and recently shut it down because players were losing their characters. So all I was doing was recovering characters. Wildcard needs to fix this.
I left because every update caused an error. With that error, I had to un install and reinstall. I would get to play a bit until the next update, and then it was rinse and repeat. I did not buy a game to have to go through that frustration.
The new cryopods change makes most most pvp situations and raiding take way longer it just becomes a chore to go out and do anything
The issue for me as a solo casual player were the official server alpha tribes, They will literally try to extort you for real money to let you play on the map (This is most servers). I dont understand how they dont have admins watching for this kind of behavior as i believe it should be a bannable offense. They need to lower the amount of completely empty servers and start moderating the servers they can.
Still don’t understand why they don’t have raid windows. It’s what made it possible for me to play Conan for a long time.

I started on the game bout 6 months after it came out an played it until right before the pandemic had to stopped cold turkey.
I got absolutely addicted to it. I mean life was falling apart addicted.
And even tried playing games after it and never could find anything that challenges me and was so immersive since.
To me it was the absolute best game I have ever played.
But I decided my wife was more important and now we have a kid.
So glad I quit. My kid is better then any day on ark.
But I absolutely do still get cravings to play it and it will irritate me that I had to give it up. I still think about how I could be building new styles of bases with the new updates. That was my favorite thing to do, build huge extravagant bases based on old castles and estates styles.
Oh and breeding. Right before the flyer nerf I had a emerald green and blue filter argy pop with 30k plus stamina and I was able to get babies off of it and was honing in my line to start trading and they nerfed it.
But still was at 7k plus! I had literally the best stamina in the world and a asshole kid I felt bad for and took into my tribe inside me and killed all of my tames, including the argy and ate the eggs.
Never had a tribe mate other then my wife after that.
Losing the argy hurt bad. I had something absolutely no one else in ark could of ever had after that nerf. And I was going to make a killing selling them fixed like people sold dragons. 7k was god status after the nerf when stuff pop out low.

You forgot about those of us that can and did play ASE (3500 hrs) but cannot play ASA due to computers not being able to handle it. I am still purchasing and playing new releases but ASA doesn't allow me to even try to play it. I wouldn't even have a copy if a tribemate didn't purchase one for me.
A big problem with the game now is everyone plays just as much if not more than they did in lockdown. And now that you can make a living from streaming / making content casual players that play after work or school can’t compete.
Me and my friend played all the time then the server got deleted then a couple days later it came back but literally 2 days later it got deleted again im still waiting we played hours a day just to get deleted

Even the server my daughter rents so we can play together, I had given up cause I can’t save single player it won’t save. It blue screens every time any of us leave the server the only reason it saves is cause it’s a server. it’s insane for it to not save
Honestly Shane I think it’s less the state of the game, and more so the fact that this game is nearly a decade old at this point. ASA is new yes but ultimately it’s still ark. We’ve not only been playing but consuming Ark content online for a long time.
The falloff off this game is quite sad used to enjoy it so much as a kid playing with my friends

There's some really thoughtful stuff here so I'd like to offer a thoughtful consideration I've had as a single player with only multiplayer experience when renting a server for me and my wife to play. I think the game needs a better diary system for your player so that you can create tasks and checklists for those tasks and not end up out there in the middle of danger looking for what it was you intended to do only to realize that for the umpteenth time you forgot a vital ingredient that you needed.
I think after buying the game again cause “the issues ase had could only be fixed by making asa” and finding our the issues remained and they added more would be the most important reason behind the player exodus. The p2w ofc had a massive impact as well, along with the devs doing absolutely everything except what the community expects. I love ark, i will never stop loving ark. I am tired of it tho, i had the expectation that they gave me, they said in asa we would not experience the same bugs as they would be fixed. They lied, same bugs and now there are even new ones xD . So i paid twice for something that is just entirely broken. Do i have hope it will get fixed? Honestly i wish, i really love ark and am honestly addicted to it. Ase is still there tho, while not on officials it does offer the great experience
I got a job and couldn't no life it anymore. If pickup rates were 30x as default I could probably have made the time to keep playing.
i just moved back to the old ark because it is not playable on my PC I have the most time 50 frames but as soon I look at water it drops to 15 frames it is a no go, hope the unreal update will fix thinks, then I might look in it again.
i enjoy ark alot but fired up recently & it seemed like i got kicked from servers about every 20 mins. if i was flying to high i was dead when i logged back in or fell in an area with high level creatures & died cause i got booted from the server. last time i got kicked luring a griffin into a trap. dead again. maybe i'll try again in a few months
people with lives like me would love to see an ORP for structures and turrets on official clusters, scaled perhaps even with the fewer people in a tribe the greater the ORP, being wiped so easily when you are not online takes away the fun of this game for me
Ark is my most played/favorite game but my biggest reason I stopped playing was that ark survival ascended looks like shit and feels like shit on console even when u change the visual settings
15 hours if u get off as a solo your wipe you go on a raid to wipe someone u come back wiped

I just came back to it after about 18 months off. Having fun so far. My only complaint is the usual bad optimization.
But i play either by myself in single player, or with a small group in a private server that i own. I don't play on official servers with whiney little kids who have all the time in the world and build gates around all of the spawn points. F all of that.
And because i don't play multiplayer, i don't get 90% of the problems other people have with the game.
Lastly, the game isn't that hard. Once you figure out how the game works, it's relatively easy. I often use mods to make the game more difficult.

Honestly, I think it's just that Ark is known as the game where all the cheaters go with scummy devs. They have a very bad reputation in other spaces. Like there is no enforcement. They don't even have a functioning reporting system and the one they do have is completely outside of the game and requires an account on their forums.
For me the Points which makes the Game boring atm:
1. All Bases are in Caves
2. All about Server cap
3. Always using the same meta Tames
4. This new Cryopod mechanic
5. New joining System
6. Technical issues
I miss the good old PvP when 2 Giga lines stand opposite and you wait till the fight starts. But atm All Bases are in Caves, its just about capping a Server, wiping everything outside in 5 min. Cant join for hours cause Server is cap. Cant drop a tame when enemies pushing your forcefield. Carchas can bit into the forcefield.
What I want or wish:
1. Increasing Server capacity
2. old Cryopod mechanic
3. a better possibility to join a cap Server
4. And ofc no technical issues (impossible by Wildcard)
I simply don't have the GPU for ASA.
You can only play the same game for so long, eventually it just gets old.

In my case, I'm Pveer, I played official in evolved, moved to non official after the anousment of the closing of servers, but keap refreshing until the end, now I'm back to official, only because of my tribe, but we all are burn out, holdind there, waiting to see what happens, I rather play in Host, and play when ever I feel, I spend 7k hours in 3 years by the way.
This is why I play on a pvt server cause the grind is too much for me I enjoy other games and going out too much

The fun always comes from unofficial servers . Thats where you can have access to some cool dinos , equipments and fast harvesting resources as long its all well balanced because at the end the problems come😅 when admins and server owners start doing dirty work adding players cheating all the time using the game mechanics . overall its an under-rated badass game with human issues

I also agree with the time it takes. it takes hours to tame. who tf has time for that? and its afk or passive taming that takes hours and it gets messed up. geezus ark gained so much popularity from ase and ascended killed 95% of that popularity! they went from millions of sales and players to less than 90k combined players on all platforms
They divided the fan base. Worse things anyone can do. They should of just kept working on ark2 and left the game it was
I have nearly 7k hrs in Ark. I quit ASA after 2 months. Wildcard absokutely ruined the release. Imagine dropping Ark with 1 map and that map being the island and waiting many months to release other maps. Already L. Then adding cryos back in even tho they said they wouldnt. There is no point in playing, at least until all maps are done. Pvp is still 🗑. Its a shame. Wildcard one of the worst companies on gaming
My reasons why I left ASA
-They copy paste the game with better graphics but worse support
-Game is extremely buggy and unfinished
-You need a NASA PC to run it and still runs like crap
-Messing with PvP caves favorite spots gone
-PC cheating is very active
-Very poor dev communication
-I don’t mind the season pass they have to make money somehow but last minute p2w reskin broken dino was a slap to the face.

-The Center feels was generated by AI, Beautiful looking map yes but looking closely you can tell it was rushed, no heart to it

I would add having dinos that destroy building make it pointless to have c4, rockets and anything really. The enemy have giga or wyverns, should made that you can't have overpowered dinos. Also it gets boring really fast. People are trying to play like it's rust or day z. There's really no reason for pvp in ark.

Try servers that keep timing out and glitching in critical moments.
Aside from me getting older and don't have a lot of time to play, I'm a little pissed that ASA is all about the Mods, I can't find a server that only has one mod, Aaron Longstaff made a mod for western decor, looks great and it's free, but there aren't any server's that only use it, I don't have time to download all the others lol I don't want a bunch of them taking up space either. But yeah for me it's because there's too many mods.
The reason I quit is because I keep getting offline raided 24 hours after I join a server it’s too toxic. They don’t let newbies build up So they’re killing the game preventing new people from joining
Literally last night on small tribes official three tribes came to wipe me out when I’m just a three man that just joined server eight hours ago
Real answer is we can’t be on 12-16 hours a day like the losers who live on government assistance and legit have 0 things going on in their life

So only losers are on government assistance and not any legitimate reason? Good job generalizing everyone even with actual disabilities. Disabilities that in turn, may inhibit their ability to have a life. A game may be the only happiness they can receive.

I work 70+ hours a week as well as several of my tribe mates, you can easily split time zones and only have to put in a couple hours a week and have a 0 offline timer, takes knowing things and learning metal, doesn't take full on dedication just the ability to think ahead.
I refuse to pay for a new version of a game I already own when the new version has more bugs, more exploits, more cheating, more pay-to-win, etc.
We spent 10 years on ase waiting days for eggs to hatch and Dino's to tame! even the no lifers aren't willing to go through that all over again
I think a lot of it is people want to keep up with the Jones's. They see CZcamsrs play and expect the same results. People get caught up on what they have in game. When in reality it really doesn't matter what you have you are in the game regardless. That being said people give up now when they don't have alpha locked up. As of before early on ASE nobody gave up they just rebuilt. People don't like being in a losing situation so they quit.
wow its been 2 weeks since i left interest of the game entirely and i just checked it and its below 10k concurrent players. thats an all time low! it had more players in march when it was just the island as a map for 5 months and now it has 3 official maps and all these mods and it lost more players with this content than it did with no content. this game actually sucks.
Easy fix for pvp playboffline singlenpkayer n add the npc mods makes it a great pvp single player game
I’ve never played PvP. NEVER. For many of these exact reasons. Just host on dedicated servers with your people and play PvE. And then you can create your own settings and mods to make it “faster”
I upped my harvest old
2x xp boost
Upped the health, stamina, speed, and attack per level a bit.
I work 40 or 50 hours a week and there are other games I play.
Ark is just to fun
And with mods and settings can be fine tuned to one’s play style and time restraints.
1. ASA is just doing the same things as before with better graphics. Doesnt feel new. 2. Had a real negative effect on my life, played like 6k hours in 2-3 years, neglected work, friends, relationships. 3. The community isnt allowing new players to join to increase the player count, all pvp servers are locked down by teaming alphas and pve servers are locked down by spam. I screw around on ASA now and then for a few hours but cant commit again, not good for my irl.
Really wish they doubled down on ark survival of the fittest. The latest changes they made were dumb. Would have loved the ark pvp experience... in shorter sessions
I can get the boys all on for a few hours at night.... but not commit a chunk of their life like survival evolved/ascended demands
I spent money on this game, just for it to crash every 5 minutes.

I know that I will get roasted for this but I played on XBox S PVE. I went through all maps at all levels on ASE. Loved it. Played for years. Now ASA is a waste. There is an update it seems like every other week which of course cause the game to crash, not load or drop. I have had to start over 6 times. I said enough. There are other games out there and I am fed up. I hope no one else has these problems but I am through. Best of luck to all.

I left ASA because I simply still think that ASE is better right now, I think its more fun to play and it doesn't have the new p2w bullshit.
Maybe ASA will become better in the future? I hope, but also doubt it.
And I wont waste any more time on it, until I see some good news about it.
I mean people really haven't left I still see tons of bases on my official server
