So glad I wasn’t the only one breaking the polystyrene!

Compared to other car seats I've used this is one of the most annoying to take out to clean. The stupid plastic inserts into the groove are tricky to pull out without snapping the polystyrene foam;I call BS on that model just tucking them out without a tool

  • @floriankleedorfer5693

I used the flat, blunt handle of a spoon to push down on those plastic flaps before pulling them out. Without such a tool, it's impossible to remove the cover without breaking the styrofoam. With it, it's still a 1-2 minute fight per flap, but manageable.
The spoon idea is from some comment here that I cannot seem to find again, many thanks to that person anyway!

Very handy video, especially for finding all the little loops and such. Be careful though as the polystyrene can snap off when removing the tabs (I now have little dinks on my seat) and one of the elastic loops snapped off around the red section near the bottom.
Unfortunately it's not as easy to removed and replace as the model shows.

That’s an hour of my life I won’t get back... removing that cover and trying to re-attach it. Watching this video... I’m sure this woman is smiling through gritted teeth as her fingers bleed and she questions her life choices... If my child wets this car seat again I’m just going to set fire to it (the car seat that is!)

Fits perfectly rear-facing in our truck, which has a slightly smaller back seats. czcams.com/users/postUgkx6_FKRYB2ClSPRyjcd8HptiCS3EiQoNX4 Feels as comfy and plush as our Graco Contender carseat.

The little tabs do get stuck when pulling them out I used the handle of spoon to tuck in around the back of the tab to help it out... there was still a bit of a damage getting it out but no bleeding fingers. Hopefully it helps others :)

To anyone doing this take care pulling the cover away, the polystyrene breaks off very easily

Just found this out, video makes it look like the cover just pops out but its really stuck in and as you said, its easy to break the white foam underneath

Had the same problem. Now have a couple of dinks in my seat but not noticeable once the cover is wrestled back on.

One of my twins has vomited in her Titan seat today. I know what an absolute bastard Maxi Cosi car seat covers are to get off and even more so to put back on. This video makes it look quick and simple, but based on other comments I foresee sore fingers, lots of lost time and high blood pressure ahead of me!

I would love to see the whole footage and take-outs from that video 😅.

25 minutes later I am done with putting back on the sleeve on my seat.
I wish each and every constructor at maxi cosi that their kids leave their belly insides in that seat regularly

I washed the seat cover at 30 and the elastic that fastens around the red plastic shrunk, so had to snap the elastic as a workaround.

This is an appallingly badly designed car seat cover. I too have chunks out of the polystyrene where the plastic tabs having broken the seat when removing the cover. Whoever designed, tested and approved the cover design are bonkers. Also the strap release mechanism is nowhere near as good as other maxicosi seats which use a moveable buckle to lock and unlock the straps. The silly button here is annoying. The straps are also very short, especially if the child has a coat on. In general a very poor seat for the money.

Just did this and snapped off the styrofoam with those plastic tabs. So badly and cheaply designed! I’m sure that woman broke a few herself before recording the video! They should tell customers to be extra careful.
