This is an awesome video for the RC Hobby!
Really? I'm just planning to order new tires for my TRX-4. Can you tell my wife why there'll be a new truck in the package?
🤣🤣🤣💯👍🏻
For the price and its abilities, this truck is going to be hard to beat. This is a great entry for people new into crawling. Shots fired by Redcat.
I payed less then $300 for a gen 8 The ascent couldn't follow me
Love the RCE shoutout, its a great place! Seems like everyone is loving this rig. I've watched a good half dozen or more reviews and have come away wanting one for sure.
RCE rocks and I met a bunch of awesome people there. I wouldn’t turn anyone away from this release.
Great video, I love all the details you go into. Looks like Redcat put a lot of development into this which is good to see
Good looking and seemed to do really well. Great to see a new location, good looking set trail they set up!
cool rc and review,great run
Love at 1st sight! ❤❤❤ Ordering it right now! Great video!
Sweet I’m from Massachusetts. Was just up there this weekend and going back up this coming weekend. Loss in the family unfortunately but awesome videos man. Love them, keep it up!
Never considered buying a Redcat or an rtr but I’m seriously impressed with this and the price point is amazing I’ll probably pick one up
My Everest gen 1 a little modded does bad ass
@@joelramirez2868 I have a new found respect for redcat
Looks great and good
performer
Awesome looking place 👍🔥👍Red Cat definitely steeping up the game.
This REDCAT looks great I might have to pick one up soon ! 👍👍
That redcat is a nice setup. I like that there is a tinted window. Excellent video RcDriver!
Thank you!
Looks good. I especially like your 360 turn around the rock to save the rollover. Smart driving :)
Redcat really got down to releasing some solid vehicles this year.
Can't wait to get mine
An excellent review.
Just ordered one. Simple esc swap and few budget friendly mods as we go. Thanks for the review.
Nice! Awesome rig for the price, enjoy!
Love it!
I'm on a waiting list for one.
Just ordered mine. Tearing my gen 8 apart for the upgrades I've already installed and a few goodies from dsm. I think its gonna be hard to beat
Love the channel and videos, been watching for a couple years. -- I have noticed you don't seem to do a lot of comparisons. I'd love to see this Redcat go up again a TRX-4 variant and something else in the space. How about that for a video? And maybe at this same location ... you can do rather fair comparisons. Thank you!
I will be purchasing one of these awesome rigs...cool review. Some tire venting and a Fusion SE motor...oh, and remove the rear bed.
New wheels, some brass, and the SE
Nice speed run.
Yup, my toy, I get to drive it how I like.
I want the red one. My 2 Redcat crawlers still good after over 2 years of hard use. The tires are great, i don't like beadlocks.
I really want a blue one! But focusing on my vendetta! I’m sure I’ll have one of these if Black Friday sales tease us more…😬🤘🏻
Just love the sound of rubbing lean on tires! 🤨
Looks like an Awesome crawler for little money !!!!!!
From Conn to Mass. Driving the main streets and back roads of New England in the fall. Hopefully the weather work out. Like button engaged.
Yup, drive was scenic and the weather cooperated. 😎
I’m really into smaller scale like 1/18 but this might be my gateway into bigger scale RC cars
This truck really seems to be awesome!
Thx for the vid!
But it really pisses me off that we can't get Redcat over here in Germany!
Wait... the tires are rotational? That's what has been missing on my last 2 trucks! Rotation! Got it now. Gonna get me them tires, bud!
They go forwards and backwards...
I recognized the course and had to check, we frequent RC excitement too. Any opinion on an up to date rtr that's already kind of built? Looking to replace an RC4WD c2x that I hate passionately.
Looking at getting this for my first RC what batter and charger would you recommend?!
I think it's an awesome truck like you said a lot for the money
I like this truck. But, no mention of what battery to put into it. Also I looked for that red Low Boy truck hauler behind you in your video. I could not find it on the Red Cat website. Where can I get that ?
My local hobby shop got 3 of each in and sold all of them instantly.
Really wish someone would open up a great crawling park here in Colorado Springs
You forgot to point out the Vienna sausage storage in the remote that Joe with Exocaged pointed out from Redcat!
Great review Greg, this truck looks pretty rad, the one thing I absolutely don't understand is why are all these companies continuing to come out with vehicles that have bodyrub right out of the box? I know it's not a big deal to some people but I can't stand it. It gives the impression that the company either didn't test the vehicle fully or they just don't care, this isn't just Red Cat, it's axial and everyone else as well. We've been at this crawler thing for a while now, get you some wheel clearance son!
Thanks! Couple potential guess answers is, they just leave it to where it looks good. If they cut it to big, people will say it’s too big. Or if they cut the arch too big someone will be upset because they want to run a smaller tire and it would have an ugly wheel gap. I always look at it as it’s a hobby where it was defined early on that we tinker, tune, tweak, build, modify, upgrade our RC the way we want it. It’s 20 seconds of trimming versus no way to fill in the wheel gap.
Exactly! Nice answer!
not bad and good to see Redcat back but i am hearing lots of body/tyre clicking in your run and the rear battery mount is a no go, if i had one i would put a couple of small packs on the centre plate and link them together, pair of 1500mah 2s to get 3000mah
What type of battery plug does the Ascent need? Thanks for another great video!
It's got a deans plug
A great release, looks like springs are way too hard though, body is tall and the esc has poor modulation, all simple fixes. Would recommend to a new driver on a budget for sure
Can you do a video of your most cheerished and loved rc. To go fast and slow.
It does look funky or wonky
When you said RC excitement, my eyes lit up didn’t know you were so close to home
This video has 2 of the crawlers im actually looking at. I'm new to the hobby and trying to stay somewhat in a budget and I've pretty much narrowed it down to the Accent or the gen7 pro. In your opinion which would you recommend. I enjoy your videos and the info I get from them so figured I'd lean on you a little to help me make up my mind. Thanks.
Wait a few days. Keep an eye on the channel. Trust me.😀
Well I took your advice. Waited a few days and and well 😲 OMG is all I can say. I see a fusion in my very near future. Thanks again
I like the truck' I am curious about the servo situation going out. Seems odd . But I guess it happens
Yeah, I talked to them about it already. They’ve sold thousands with no issues. But of course the review guy gets an odd one.
@@rcdriverglad to know that information. I personally do not crawl in water bieng 49 lol I dont like cleaning them rascals afterwards. This truck will be in the stable soon. I've waited to see just what they were going to do after the great success of the gen models. Thank you for the feedback as always.
I run my Ridgerock through water and haven't had any problems. It must've been a one off incident.
Is the panhard mount plastic or aluminum? No review I've watched says anything about it lol. Mine will be here Friday!
Composite. I noticed I forgot to mention it while I was editing. ☹️ Enjoy it!
Looks like around the best 300$ you can spend for a beginner comp crawl. If they make a 200$ roller the rest of us would buy it. I might buy it anyway...just needs front shock towers to be more forward. Maybe a shock key or swapping left and right to get that mount more forward. Also needs more sag and better wheels/tires.
Easy fixes... Cant believe the combination of performance features.
Try it I have 3 😊 and two upgraded that Smoke all the competition
I guess I've got my first Redcat on the way from the US of A even with the crazy shipping cost I just had to order me one eh' p.s It's a Redcat so I got a Red Redcat!😉
do you think this redcat ascent is better than an axial scx10 3 basecamp?
Yes and especially if you upgrade it Motor and Tires
Redcat really is a different company ever since they got a new logo
Redcat. These available in the UK yet for our British brothers and sisters?
Doesn’t matter how you look at it that is a whole lot for the $! And the stock performance just has you daydreaming about after you do some proper upgrades. 🤔🤯
The price
The chassis setup is good throw a battery up front it becomes great !
The price though crushes it,axial ,traxxas vanquish sorry some people still like (affordable hobbies)
@@shaynejenkins446In todays dollars it performs very well at its price of a rtr. Throw a Holmes or fusion at it/your choice crawler esc motor . Move some weight around and you have the $$ in on it that you’d pay for a V Phoenix kit.
@@oldironsfury no offense but you can build a lcg better then this for less money ....you have to know how though🙄
Now I am on the wall…. Ecto or this Redcat ? Opinions ?
Really enjoy traxxas and axial trucks. Break a part no problem. Not chasing redcat to obtain parts. My friend has a redcat all parts must be special ordered and a delay.
Years ago it was an issue. Now it’s pretty easy to order parts and they arrive in acceptable time.
@@rcdriver drive by 2 hobby shops to go to work. Obtaining parts is problem free. Drive hard play hard. Your videos inspired to obtain all new machines. All 20 year old rc sold. 9 years late to crawling. Never thought going slow would be fun. Traxxas makes fun and axial so scale.
Drive hard. Break. Repair. Repeat. This is a fun hobby. Got into the hobby when futaba released the first esc to replace the old wiper throttle control arm on the gold tub rc10.
This ain't your dad's redcat lol they've stepped up the r&d and quality the past few years while still staying affordable...
Good luck getting parts
It was probably your receiver because that is not water proof ????
I tried to order that Redcat Ascent today and had a truly HORRIBLE experience with Redcat's customer service that resulted in me canceling the order and telling them where to go. No apologies from them, no nothing. Awful experience. I will NEVER own a Redcat product after this.
Explain? I had a great experience and bought 3 Red Cat Acsent and one had a broken part due to shipping and they shipped me out the part right away.
You have the greatest job ever dude. Man I love RC everything since I was old enough to walk lol awesome video keep up the great videos and good day to you
