I wouldn't normally post on a year old video but this one I had to. I really enjoyed seeing both and H and an M in use. Many years ago when I was much younger, my Grandad had a Super M and my Uncle Walter had an H. I used to spend part of my summer at Grandma and Grandad's and I remember those tractors. It was nice to see the same models doing what they did all those years ago. Thank you sir!

So, the green unknown has no disc gang adjustment from what I see, the gang angles need to be set more aggressive with it. The IH disc, did a great job.

Mr. fanatic, I actually agree with you supporting Red Power. FARMALL tractors were arguably the best tractor in its day. A case can be made for Oliver, as well Minneapolis-Moline, especially MM in high horse power . However I would really like for you to research how White Motor Company ruined both MM as well as Oliver. I believe that Oliver was the original Green Power, until White messed them up. All the development engineers left Oliver for whatever reason, a story in itself, and ended up at JD or Case. Those tractor companies benefitted greatly from that development and today it is Red or Green . Both actually great equipment. Then of course there is the foreign competition . But they are a story for another day ! I grew up in North Carolina on an Oliver Farm. I really enjoy your channel and your stories. A motorcycle trip could be in my future to visit your farm, I would like to sit on your “A” , we had access to several of those models when we were “putting in” tobacco!!

If you have to work a particular patch 3 or 4 times, hit it with a plow to turn any large green vegetation under first, then once or twice to smooth it with disk . . .

That is the biggest thing I have seen going to a bigger disc is that there is more weight. Still looks like it did a good job. Are the disc. Angles adjustable, if so maybe a little more angel and they might cut a little bit better.

we farmed 250 acres with 2 3-14 or a 3-14 and a 2-14 and 2 10 ft disks 2 AC all crop 72 combines and a 1 row Oliver corn picker. we could only combine beans from the time the dew burned off until the dew returned but once we started picking corn we ran around the clock or until the last wagon was full at night...i did my homework in study hall so when i got to the farm i hooked the H to the 2 full wagons and took them to the elevator 2 miles away and when i got back another was full so i ran that one to the elevator. i then took over for dad at 5pm so he could get some sleep until 10pm by that time the wagons were full again we had to be in line before the elevator closed at 11pm... we had 5 wagons that held 150 bu of ear corn each. our 40 acre field yielded 140 to 150 bu/acre. so after midnight we could only pick 5 acres of the 40 acre field when we ran out of empty wagons.. that my friend is iron man farming. we went around the clock until the last row was picked. i have picked corn or combined beans at 10 below zero to 60f all we had were canvas storm cabs with 2ft tall pexi windshields. at times it was so cold we put ardboard in front of the grill to keep the engine temp in the run zone... if you ran too hot you cut a hole in the cardboard until you got the correct temp to run good

Those discs look like they are slicing thought the soil not really turning it over. Wonder if the angle was more aggressive if it wouldn't do better. They also look more like coulters than discs. Look flat could just be the video.
