  • "Only three out of 11 athletes took a rest day during the final 5 days prior to their most successful competition."
This is a really interesting paper called Road To Gold.

What happens when we look at General Preparation (Base) , Specific Prep (Build), Race Season, and Pre-peaking and Peaking phases, in terms of training volume, training intensity, and days off?
Not what the theories might tell us.
Discussed: annual training characteristics, training volume, peaking characteristics, peaking trends, intensity distribution, and rest days.
What do you do for a taper?

I have also found that doing my openers 2 days before my race rather than the day before has been super beneficial towards my mental preparation! Also, I really appreciate the disclaimers you stated at the beginning of the video. Not many people do that before reviewing a study.

So true, if it was a one-size-fits-all situation it would have been figured out a long time ago

Brendan when do you use your Lactigo and how do you apply it?

Hey coach, I'm trying to reduce the volume in my rest week, and my form bounce back to positive 10. Today i was doing ftp test, then I just totally burned out at the first five mins vo2max intervals before the 20 mins test. I ended up failing to complete the ftp test, so frustrated. The question is am I tapered too much ? This is the first time I'm trying to rest a bit more, it seemd not working so well then. My current w/kg is 4.3, and I can just hold ten mins 100%ftp within this ftp test, I felt my legs doesn't working and heart rate higher than usual.
