@Holland Karoly a lot easier to speak from the outside looking in. Ironically the people who snitched on him only did so after 6 months when they knew he was deploying with them again and in a leadership position and made requests to have him pulled, when they had no leverage they made leverage. How does a guy with integrity his whole career do a complete 180 in front of civilians, his platoon and Police forces in the day and age of rising social media platforms, I call bullshit on the people who clicked together to bash his name and strip his chances at a silver star, especially when a OIC told these people examples of ways to get rid of EG. You talk about this guy but what about the poor toxic leadership of people who never even faced the fucked up system of ROE but have the balls to criticize others for making quick life or death situations. U cannot discount the drive for people to seek convictions to further their careers. I Remeber well the case of a black man doing decades for sexual assault. DNA eventually led the police to speak with him and ask why he confessed to a crime he clearly did not commit. After serving many many years in jail maybe even over a decade, he said the investigating officer wanted a promotion and said if he didn't confess to these offences he would go after him and his family so he plead guilty in order to spare his family grief. That rogue cop got his promotion and an innocent man endured the indignities and deprivation of jail. This was incomprehensive to me then, not now.

Mike Ritland, brother I’ve been doing criminal interviews my entire career and did a stint in new hire interviews and after all the damn classes I’ve done and great interviewers I’ve had as role models I’ve got to say you’re a natural and great interviewer. You keep the flow perfect and let your interviewee talk. You get the info and keep it moving. I usually can’t watch long form interviews so easily but this one went by in a breeze. After hearing all the media talk of Chief Gallagher it’s really amazing to have the opportunity to hear the facts and get to know the guy in such a believable no bullshit platform. Thanks for doing these videos, much appreciated from the civilian side! After watching this interview I find myself completely convinced Chief Gallagher is a great American, a patriot, and one hell of a military man. I’ll also ad, I’ve been through hundreds of hours of deception detection training from both federal and local law enforcement training sources. I’ve conducted over a thousand interviews/interrogations and put that training to use and while I’m not the expert be all or guru of deception detection I would definitely say I’m above average experienced and trained on bullshit filtering. I did not for one second see anything or hear anything to think Chief Gallagher was anything but completely honest with you. In fact I would even use parts of this interview to show text book behavior in an interviewee telling the truth. Blown away by the quality of this interview, and my heart hurts for Chief Gallagher and what he went through. Thank you both for being who you are and giving us civilians access to this material.

Men and heroes like Chief Gallagher make me feel good about our military and as for them new guy Navy Seals... you all are a bunch of losers ....the real 3% who squeaked thru the Seals bud training.. We had guys like that in the Marines who were quickly taken around the building and intensely given a reality check ! Of course back in my day we had CC corrective custody in the SUCK for weak marines who didn't want to get with the program, and the Brig also straightened a lot of marines who thought they were Hot Sh_t , but most got with the program real fast..!

Unquestionably the most gripping, corner-turning and gut-wrenching podcast I have ever listened to. I sat on the fence throughout the nearly three hour interview, determined to be ambivalent and open minded about who Eddie Gallagher really was: monster or master manipulator. I'm not even a true Trump supporter but this has made me sit up and pay attention. I think POTUS did the right thing without any legal reason for doing so. How uncanny that his emotional hunch and eventual actions have given Gallagher justice by default. It has exposed the deep-seated corruption within the ranks of the "unchecked". The self-serving that are supposed to be the leaders, masters of the elite, above everyone else, yet proving their status as not even worthy of the common good they are supposed to serve and uphold. There are grey areas in every story, but Mike has punched holes through this one without being biased. He has given Eddie Gallagher a moment in the "public" court and what he's just delivered is clear-cut, black and white. For an ex-journalist like myself, I find this fascinating, spell-binding and I can't wait to hear the next instalments.

I personally don’t have one posing next to a dead fedayeen or republican guard fighter, but I didn’t care for the smell. Pictures happen but most of them aren’t shared with the public or become public knowledge. The only reason these became public is because of the five ass holes that started all of this. I agree there needs to be civilian law reform, but the military is 10 times worse. I don’t give a damn what people say, I’ve seen how the UCMJ works and it’s guilty til proven innocent. I hate this happened to Eddie. I wish I knew how bad the five accusers screwed up their careers with this. I imagine this has to make team members cringe at what this has done to their reputations. One of my best friends from childhood joined the Marines bc of 9/11 and did his 4yrs with multiple deployments on his last deployment he was seriously injured by grenade (shrapnel pretty much in his heart and other inoperable spots) and developed ptsd from everything so they sent him home for a couple weeks. First weekend home he got into a road rage incident on the interstate loop around our city and chased after the car and as he passed it he flashed a handgun (to say don’t fuck w me). He didn’t threaten them bc he did it as he was passing them and was getting off on an exit that was 1/4 up the road. Well anyways to make a long story short he got 20yrs for flashing a gun...this was in 2006....it’s 2020 now and he’s still in. I haven’t talked to him in about 10yrs but he’s kept his head down and been on his best behavior so I don’t see why he’d still be imprisoned.
Edit: I know he’s still in bc he has an idiot little brother that got released from prison bc of COVID19 came home and immediately overdosed and died and I talked to his mom about everything at the funeral. Great fukin year we are having huh?

Sounds like a whole lot is being left out of this post. You don't get 20 years for brandishing. There are many of us veterans with some form of PTS. I leave out the D for disorder because what we have is NOT a disorder. What we have (PTS) is something we should never be ashamed of. In fact, developing PTS as a result of witnessing / partaking in the horrors of war shows our humanity. Not being affected by the horrors and carnage of war is a DISORDER.
Pulling a firearm during a road rage episode is NOT an example of PTSD. It is an example that your friend is flat out a danger to society. It is my sincere hope that your friend is able to find peace and find a constructive way to decompress his aggression.
Was your friend tried by a civilian court or a UCMJ? The way you framed it (20 years for brandishing / Is still doing time) kind of sounds like a UCMJ court. A UCMJ conviction means you will serve exactly the same amount of time that the sentence indicates
