DSG best transmission where there was a recall in 2009 when cars would get the flash of death (Flashing PRNDS) and your vehicle would get into neutral and you have to turn off you car in order to get it working again. Best mechatronic unit reliability where you can have 20000 miles and it already failed. When you want to shift into reverse from drive and your transmission gives out because it's faulty. Perfection

In the cost comparison matrix the information doesn't concur fully with what the narrator is saying. Perhaps some might be able to explain how 'the DSG is ahead in terms of cost alone'. There's some 56 secs of sound missing from 3:16 to 4:12, which is disappointing, because this video would appeal to the more technically minded of us. People who buy DSG specifically because of its performance advantages would be fascinated to see the video if is was complete.

I wouldn't hesitate to say that some transmission problems turn out to be the dual mass flywheel. I had one go on my 2006 Jetta TDI and my 2017 Jetta GLI 6 speed manual. The one on my GLI cost me $3000. I was pretty angry about that. I have the flywheel and clutch and just 1 rivet caused it to fail. I'm not impressed.

Cost 0??? At ~$9500 USD for a new/replacement OEM unit (Audi)--these things are not cheap! Nor is it easy to find anyone capable or willing to repair one given the low risk vs. reward in doing so (at least not once you are dealing with issues inside the gear box). When serviced and not leaking fluid, they are hard to rival, but if one starts to fail or lets go, plan on dropping some dough. I am about to pay $4500 all-in on a salvage unit including flat rate shipping and install given the code on my unit is so rare.

... formidable but wen is gone is gone.
My DSG left me wen I needed most, and to repair it cost me a fortune.
1400 pounds megatronic unit, 1200 flywheel and clutch and another 1000 some forks are labour .
This gearbox was loosen power from the day I have it around 49000 miles and because I am a ignorant and I didn't inform my self I pay the price.
This transition is made to make money from the clients nothing more, is terrible in the city because is running out the clutch , and need maintenance every 40000 miles and is not very cheap either .
10000 sterling pounds + for this comfort is not worth it .

    • @MrDINODINO74

      ... last updated.
Price for spare parts from Volkswagen are 1400 £ for megatronic unit
1250 £ clutch, and 1350 flywheel , and that if you are a garage, if not price is bigger.
To repair your megatronic unit 450£ + vat , replacement refurbished 655 + vat with life time guarantee, if you don't live long, Clutch 350 £ flywheel 4500 from LUK , and 8 hours labour , and that if you lucky to catch a good match , I had the opportunity to catch 2 broken one and a bank holiday and I became gold client on the rental company.
Now, maybe I had bad luck ,but this story with megatronic broken took 2 months 3000 sterling pounds labour and spare parts, and 4000 pounds van rental, so I ca go to work and pay for all of this.
