For no particular reason we are just going to leave it buried rather than excavate it and learn from it. We have only uncover 5% of this site before they built permanent pathways for tourists right on top of ground that radar has already told us contains monoliths beneath. It makes no sense to find a 12000 year old temple and just leave it buried. It goes against the conventional theory of when civilization began. There are even older sites nearby and we are not digging there either.

It was inhabited from 9500 to at least 8000 BCE, which is almost 12000 year ago from now

More like buried by Christians ✝️, who also burned all the ancient libraries during the Crusades

The people of Göbekli Tepe may have deliberately buried the monuments at the site around 8,000 BCE. They covered the monuments with layers of soil and refuse, such as animal bones and flints, that they brought from other places. This helped to preserve the site for thousands of years.

@Noeltravelling130 well um, it might be 8,000 years old but that doesn't mean it was buried 8K years ago.
With the violent onset of abrahamic monotheism all people that did not, or have not accepted the new religion were subjected to excruciating deaths , their wealth and property taken. Just like communism
