At SummerSlam, Bálor, wrestling under his "Demon" persona, defeated Rollins to become the inaugural champion. Bálor was the first WWE wrestler to win a world title in his PPV debut as well as winning his first world title in less than a month of his debut on WWE's Main Roster.
So my answer is the first Universal Champion with the shortest reign of 22 hours.
As someone who liked Roman reigns, I say his title run was the best. His win had an impact for me because he was heel and finally got back the title he had to relinquish. His work became so much better and he elevated that title to the moon imo. I’ve loved every part of the bloodline story and think Roman is now the guy.

If tickets are selling in your reign ratings are high etc
In short if your reign is making money and Roman's reign is printing money for wwe
When Finn Balor won the Universal Champion at Summer Slam in 2016 and then had to relinquish it the next day it was sooooo devastating to me. I thought he was going to be a beast with the Demon and hold the title for awhile. Sadly due to an injury he never got that chance

Seth Rollins is my fav universal champ. He brought legitimacy to the title, is a constant work horse and reminds me of a mix of a modern day Bret & Edge. Love it
My pick is Seth "Freakin" Rollins in his "beast slayer" mode , the match with brock at summerslam is so good and when he defeat brock at mania (not a good match) but it was a very special moment when all of us realize that the terror reign of part- timer brock came to an end. I dont count the feud with becky lynch vs baron corbin, that is forgettable, but the feud with brock and the fiend one, thats a title reign!! #burnitdown🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

The belt doesn't look bad in this video compared to on TV it looks pretty cool. My favorite universal champion has to be Bray Wyatt as the Fiend, the customized belt plus the lighting he had in the thunderdome created a unique aura to that character.

I just always felt like Roman always made that title feel more special even the reigns before his current reign. He is one of the few people who actually made that Universal title look good especially his current reign where the Universal title meant way more than the WWE title until they were unified. Awesome that he held the title for so long and is breaking lots of records
My favourite Universal Champion was Kevin Owens! He stepped up to the plate after Finn had to vacate the title and made me very invested in the future of the championship.
Obviously Goldberg, the way he killed the fiends character and lost in to braun in front of no fans really made him the best.

Before the Title Unification against brock, Romans Universal Reign was my favorite. His matches against my GOATs Daniel Bryan and Edge are PEAK, and his storyline with Jey Uso is pure CINEMA!
My favourite Universal Champion is Roman Reigns, now before some of you guys think I'm just a Roman's fans (or empire... anyway) I'm not! But the reason is that the belt should elevate the person holding it and vice versa. Remember when KO won it? It elevated him until the one and uprising new and young star Goldberg storyline, it does not elevate him and he lost most of his momentum there. Seth is similar case with The Fiend. But Roman won it and change his persona entirely. From the most hated babyface to be a badass heel, which elevate him more with the title, in the same time the title become the "final boss" where we wish people dethrone him to be the champ, therefore elevating the title. And by holding it for 1000 days (which feels like 1000 years not gonna lie) it became the unbeatable prize the we cheer a lot of people to win from him. I went to LA for Wrestlemania 39 from Thailand, 20+ hours flight, just to see him got dethrone... please don't mention what happened next as it's still my truama... but yeah, Roman is the best Universal champ in my opinion.

Seth Rollins is my favourite Universal Champion because of the feud he had with Brock Lesnar and the story of how he won the title. It was also very fun seeing him in mixed tag matches with Becky Lynch which made me love the title run even more.

I was actually at that smackdown in Philly, being my first ever tv show I went to between live events in Delaware and Maryland, when he presented the blue design. Brays Fiend character just had alot of layers when he had that run except when he lost it. I hope he goes back for it soon when he gets better. My Favorite Universal Champion has to be Seth Rollins, I loved the story of the Beast Killer and the match Seth and Brock had at summer slam 2019 had me at the edge of my seat. Seth’s reign brought life to the belt imo. As I was watching the math I remember thinking that it was crazy how Seth used to run from Brock to beating him for the BELT! It was a great moment as it was Seth’s 1st big title run as a solo competitor. It had the feel of a Kofi mania match where the crowd was electric. Seth character and personality really fit the belt and I loved how he used the beating Brock as a persona. Of course Roman is a very dominant champion with over 1,000 + days but the way Seth defended it with high quality matches was amazing, Roman and Brock are better WWE CHAMPIONS and Finn’s was too short. So because of that I’m going to have to say Seth. He’s not my favorite superstar of all time but my favorite universal champion! I also love the belt I wish it had a new design but The way the Black pops and the all gold makes it feel rewarding

As my fellow Irish man I have to pick Finn Balor, from a small town in Ireland, making himself a name in new Japan to going on to becoming the first universal champion in the history of wwe, it’s an amazing story. Great to see he is once again back in the main event.

I’m firm in my belief that Ric Flair should honestly be listed as the first undisputed champ since he had the WCW and WWF when he first came over.

When Roman won the Universal Championship at Payback 2020, the Roman Reigns we knew became the most dominant force in the WWE. I’ve been following Roman ever since he debuted at Survivor Series 2012 and it was a crazy journey. After 10 years in the WWE, he will forever be our Bloodline’s Tribal Chief, our Head of The Table, our Big Dog, and The Enforcer of the Shield. I will acknowledge him as the only WWE Superstar who made the Universal Championship prestigious.
The Fiend was my favorite Universal Champ and I love his custom belt. I'm a fan of Guys who customize. Honorable mention to the glory that Roman Has put on it.

My pick is Finn. Strange, I know, since he had it for less than a day. But it takes me back to a moment where everyone thought this guy was gonna be on top of the world after only just debuting on the main roster, and then it all came crashing down. Winning the world title that soon after a debut hadn't been seen since Sheamus in 2009 and Brock in 2002. I still wonder how things would've gone if he never got injured.
I returned to watching wwe with WM39 (stopped around 2012) so I never got to see anyone else hold the belt since it’s introduction other than Roman but what I’ve seen of the bloodline storyline is dope and once Roman loses that belt, it’ll be a special moment b/c of the weight now attached to that belt (whoever defeats Roman for it will appear superior) so I guess for that reason, I’ll say Roman lol

Overall my FAVORITE Universal Champion is Bray Wyatt “The Fiend.” I really hope he makes a return soon and some time down the road he gets another run with one of the main titles.
I think my favorite is Kevin Owens. I want it to be Finn but injuries happen unfortunately. Plus I’ve really liked Kevin his whole WWE career even when he was a heel. He’s just really good at what he does & somehow still underutilized.
I loved that Kevin Owens won the belt just because of the fact that he was a big guy that won. The others I felt had popularity because they were over and Kevin was given the belt as an experiment and he got it over himself!

Kevin owns has to be my favorite run as champ. The way he won when triple H turned on Seth sparked a great story there. The duo that came out when he teamed with Chris Jericho. Overall just a good comedy heel he was that yes wasn’t NXT Kevin, but it was a good run as main roster heel

My Favorite Universal Champion by far have to be Roman Reigns. Even though his title reign this year is vague, you have to look back during 2020-2022 days, he did a lot more title defenses than this year! But yeah, Roman Reigns made the universal Championship a lot meaningful!

Fav Universal Champ, def Kevin Owens. I like his character more now but no one elevated the title like he did. Sure romans had it for the longest but his reign has been more about the WWE championship than having the universal.

Kevin owens was prob my favourite. It was nice to see someone different and new compared to ur usual champs like brock. Also love his friendship feud with jericho. Definitely should have had the title match vs jericho at mania
