I gasped audibly seeing Blitzcrank. That's an entirely different robot almost. He went from washing machine to Iron Giant's younger bronze brother.
So many of them did, Malphite isn't quasimodo anymore, well he still has a head where his chest should be, but now he doesn't look like someone with a birth defect anymore (i don't mean to offend anyone, malphite simply looks that way) now he looks scarry.

Personally prefer Lux’s hair to stay a bit longer than what is shown in the collection reviewer...like reaching to the back of her shoulders, rather than above the shoulder..., if they want to make her hair short, they should update her in game and even promotional arts and splash arts, cuz every of these have her hair to be some what to be shoulder long..

tbh they could have just gave her an extra shawl that just floats around her back overlapping her arms, and that should really join the concept of flowing wind from top to bottom.
@@kurcina0 It's probably skintight because it was her original costume but then they just painted on it to censor it afterwards, they've done the same with other characters too.

Lux is different, but she is A LOT closer to her splash art now: check it out, the PC game model is quite different. The splash art does have the knee covers, the silver shoulder pads, the protection on her sides, and even her hairstyle is closer, even if the hair is longer. Is the PC version that has been "wrong" for years.

A couple things I caught, Jinx's cloud tattoos have been removed and replaced with like an arm wrap. And a lot more gold over all, especially on more Chinese adjacent characters *(Xin and Zed.) I feel a lot of design choices have been made for the Chinese market where I am sure they are correctly thinking a lot of there players will be.

24:00 wow good catch that's a huge fail on Jinx. I expect that to get a new texture. The tattoos are iconic. I'm sure that's like a dev issue detail they didn't have in time for the video.
Although, suddenly it dawns on me that so many of these designs are cleaner than any other portrayal of these characters. Maybe because it's mobile? Less processing power, which would affect the overall aesthetics even in marketing materials like cutscenes.
Hm. Or, again, could just be beta designs with more to come. I like a lot of the smoother, cleaner designs... but characters like Orianna may have been intentionally very detailed! So some of that character is lost.

Lux always had the shoulder ring pieces, they just aren't visible on her in game model. In fact, her new model has really just been made more obviously accurate to her splashart.
This wild rift models really show how badly some of this Champs despritely need visual updates.

It's deadass an upgrade, like how Nintendo censored Mythra but somehow just made her more attractive.
Design wise, it fits better for an air-themed character. There's more fabric to flap in the wind.

I'm going to be frank, a lot of the characters who got "covered up" in wild rift look way better that way, imo.
For example Miss Fortune looks like an actual female human being, not like a sexualized stripper.

Yeah they need to visually rework most of the champions, especially Blitzcrank. The mobile teaser video makes Blitz look 9000x better than the one we got on PC. Kinda like what they done with Ezreal.
Annie also needs a big rework, she doesn't feel like the same girl from the lore. Same with other champions who doesn't fit their own personality lore ingame

I really like how they rounded the shoulders of blitzcrank. It makes him look more approachable and relaxed compared to the very sort of upright shoulder shape he has in LoL.

Some characters seem to look more like their cinematic counterparts[Lux/Garen], others just look much much better, newer champions look similar since its the same models it seems.
Generally really good stuff.
I never have a problem when a champ has a 'sexy' design, but Janna is one that doesn't sit well with me and I don't know why. The Wild Rift design makes me want to have this design in the main game!
They've definitely taken an interest in this Art style or direction. They've used it in their Card Game, they've used it in some of the animations they have put out and more notably they've used it in Valorant. I also find it interesting how these high poly models are designed making certain parts of a character much more readable in motion as well as having seemingly better color separation to specific parts of the body.
Wild thought but these might be future proofing models for their currently in development fighting game which may have also adopted this style sometime into development.
You might be right. In what little was shown of project L, ahri has a similar design to this, but simpler.
They might also be testing these models for later porting into League of Legends proper since we know they took some ability changes from it and moved those to League already.

In regards to MF, it was confirmed on Twitter yesterday that the update of her LoR splash art back to her bare midriff was a mistake and will be changed back to the leather corset.
The designers said that before MF was released but after the art was made they decided the bare midriff model wasn’t accurate to the character they wanted to portray so they changed it to the now leather corseted version. In making changes to some of the cards this patch the previous art was accidentally published.
More specifically to why the previous design accidentely went live, they wanted to fix the issue the art had in MF's hand not properly connecting to the rope.
Anyway, the Wild Rift model still has some differences to the LoR design. Most notably in the "sleeves".

Some of the details in Soraka's model were changed to fit more in the Targon aesthetic (the circles with "spikes", like, there's one on the gem in her waist area, one on the staff, etc) and i really liked this. Also, love your content, Skyen

@@PaladineAvenger1 A bit late to reply.... Most people from freljord actually do feel cold. Only the small number of select ones don't... not quite sure now... Iceborns? Those that can handle the special weapons, like Ashe's bow. If someone else would try to wield it it would kill them.

Level up version of lux has boobplate. The non level up version is probably her discovering her power so she's younger.
@@Spellbook I think you're mistaken, the leveled up version looks like a boobplate because of the pose of Lux (and the light), but It's the same plate of the Non leveled up. What you say about she being younger is cool though
I dunno why people hate on boobplate all the time, Lux is a more girly and feminine characters too so it fits her persona.
It's fun and I think it's boring when breastplates are all so shapeless and generic like '' normal '' breastplates.
@@watwat3682 Some people just don't like armor that's changed to make it way more useless in real combat. Strikes are meant to slide off a breastplate, not be caught by a funnel near your chest.
The new card art for mf was a mistake, there was an error on the update, in the next patch they Will change it
as a support main, i LOVE the new Janna model, the clothing she wear fits her much more, the old model's bra looks super forced on her, like, they made her model without bra and in final phase of model design they slapped it on her so they wont get any censorship law problems
I would also point out how great the upgrade their postures have. Janna for example, you can see her posture changes from "standing but in the air" to "proudly cruising in the winds"

The models, animations and character abiltiies are all better. Even the map feels far better with its tighter map design. I've thought this since the first reveal of models at League10. I'd love for them to implement these into League. Instead of Splash arts use these animations
The only thing that can kill League proper is mobile League 😄😄😄

Most of old leagues designs always make me think ,,This doesn't look like anything that could be present in the Runeterra we have know" but these animations just show that all they need is some detail, modern propotions and some regional flare. Blitzcrank looks like a character from like Rayman Legends or something like that but all they did is change him from piss gold to bronze and BAM! He is from piltover and zaun now!

I started playing Janna when I got the forecast Janna skin, because I don't like her base skin, at all. Without that skin, I don't know if I would have lvl 7 on her now.

The original, original lore was that her creator had lost his daughter ( I believe due to illness, I don’t remember), and in his sorrow, he created Orianna.
Actually these have been bothering me from a while but those screen update where you see the hero has their entrances with their glamorous model or sprites like you see in their intro, that their modes are so good then when we compare the pc version the models are kinda trashy compared to this updated version.
The thing is in this mobile game the models for the intro are different than the sprite models that are used in the actual game because you will not really need so very high quality models if your gonna play in airal view in the first place
, in the mobile version they just also came up with an idea of the heroes having their own intros like in mobile legends where every hero has their intro but when you play the actual game its like you wont even notice that the sprites are so down graded cause again they are in arial view,
so i guess if we will compare the sprites that we have from the LOL pc we should compare them from the Sprite model where the character is playable in the LOL wildrift and not the intros because they are totally very different models and sprites.

One small thing they changed about Jinx, they added bandages around her chest. It is barely noticed it. I managed to catch it when I first saw the splash art, and now I can't not notice it.
I am amazed at the modeling work poured into the Wild Rift variants of these champions. Also I hope my phone can manage the game since my graphics card died on me not too long ago xD

Rewatching this video once again, one part got a chuckle out of me. Indeed, you can't just port a model directly from WR to League as you mentioned at 2:46 and have it work _perfectly,_ however it is still incredible how much of a difference there is when you have those models imported into the game through custom skins, from people like TheKillerey. Those models are like night and day and while Riot might not do it, creators do and their work is worthy of an applause.

One thing you didn't seem to address on Ashe's new model is the heels, I'd love to know what you think about this particular design trope of adding heels to women characters (another example would be Zero Suit Samus in Smash)

Why do people obsess so much about covering female characters? There's countless of shirtless male characters or even close to nude male characters but no one goes on about it all the time.

@@watwat3682 The problem is the logic in the outfit. Champions like elise or evelynn makes sense to use little to no clothing, but, a champion like sivir who lives on a desert and is a bounty hunter, her outfit does not match the lore (the same go for the males like tryndamere)
A pity those redesign are for the censorship, the play store has some things against cleavage and in china they have a giant censorship from the government

They said on twitter that the MF art from LoR will go back to normal (the more covered version) and that they used an older version of her art to correct an error in her hand but forgot to replace it.

i love the design of Janna, btw i love wind spirits/deity that shows less skin... then their dress would be like long and always floats on air makes it more a wind spirit vide... and i wish the hair doesnt fly up like that but like still floating... like hairs that floats in water gives it more windy vibe...

Ziggs' new model in Wild Rift looks so cute I need it in PC like now.
The in game models are also consistently better than the ones used in the PC version, the characters are more expressive in their movements and even in their idle animations.
I’m excited that some of the models are being completely remade so now I have high hopes for wild rift neeko if they ever add her

Like something that wouldn't fall over immediately or jumble around like crazy whenever it moves.
His old school pose is so obstructive, this new design looks like he's capable of so much more expressive movement.
Imagine this new Blitz walking around, jankily bobbin up and down, somewhat... falling into his steps like the heavy machine he is (because he has *knees* now), with wide leaping steps once he starts to go faster as his waist section gets pushed into the main body like a suspension.
There's so much potential for characterful animation that is both bouncy and stiff instead of.... just janky.

I would like to see all of them upgraded eventually. I think S10 was something where they tried new things to see what would work (hence the lot of new champs and gameplay changes), but I would like to see S11 be more about renewing the old stuff. They are already reworking the item system, so maybe we could see more VGU updates and reworks than new champs.
I'd like to suggest these are meant for the end-use of mobile, so a lot of these changes probably have the screen size in mind. I don't think we need to expect 4k anything, these designs are meant for smaller screen.

About Miss Fortune, the LOR change was because there was a error with some of the ropes she was holding in her card art, so they reversed the art to the previous development version. They have stated the covered midriff is canon and that they'll change the card art again when they fix it. That's why the leveled up art still has her covered.
About the lux visuals, It look like they took heavy inspiration from the warriors cinematic from january to create the new design. (see the hip metal pad things) (she also got a haircut)
