  • Our arrival on Saint Helena is magnificent. With the rising sun on Barn Rock it just looks like it has been polished the day before. Very special this rock in the middle of the ocean, 1300 miles from Namibia and 1750 from Recife. I guess they wanted to be sure he didn't come back to Europe again at the time.
    We will only stay here a couple of days as we want to be in time for Brazilian carnival in Olinda just north of Recife.

    I`'m enjoying your videos so very much. I love your unpretentious way of sharing your wonderful journeys and I also love that you are aware of the specialness of your adventures on our beautiful planet. - That being said, on a technical and artistic level your videos are getting better and better. Jay❣ What a treat❣🥰

      Agreed, if CZcams ever decided to create an Awards Show, Mark's video production would be worthy of top honors. I've worked on 115 movies in 34yrs with some of the best Directors in Hollywood and Mark's talents are right up there with theirs. He's no slouch.

      You keep saying that and we’re not the only sailing channel you’re following. Stop it now, you make me blush 🥰

      I believe in giving credit where credit is due. You're a real film maker who's cataloging your experiences unlike 99% of the other CZcams Channels. I'll knock it off now and stop with the flattery, just know that it's well deserved and we'll leave it at that. My spouse says that you're a Saint, but I am not going to go there, Saint or not we appreciate you.

      Yeeeessss, I shortened it a bit in the final version but could watch those magnificent creatures fly through the water for hours. We did have even better manta material in an episode in the Marquesas with the son of Joost (Thomas) but somehow this is one of the worst viewed episodes. The mantas seem to love the Ham family though

      Maybe now we have Starlink it’s an option as the final video size is less of a problem to upload in remote places but still storage of the raw material is a bottleneck

    it is a big ocean but there is a chance you could see Solo Ocean sailors from either the "Global Solo Challenge" or the "Arkea Ultim Challenge" There are trackers for both available online. Much of the fleet only just rounded cape horn and they are going to spain.

    Maybe they forgot to tell you that Napoleon is in fact buried in Paris, in the Invalids. Louis Philippe retrieved his remains the year of his death.

    • @CatGreatcircle
      @CatGreatcircle  Před 7 měsíci

      Yes the told me. I was also told that there are several opinions whether this is true, but of course the same goes for the landing on the moon. I don’t think it would really matters once you’re dead but before that I would prefer the peaceful spot on St Helena way above being transferred to Paris but hey I understand that he had to have a different opinion

    • @laurence9695
      @laurence9695 Před 7 měsíci +1

      Because St Helena is British, and in our (french) history books, Napoléon is à hero. They couldn't let him rest on British soil!!! If in Paris, you have to go. His casket in the Invalids is outrageously over the top impressive.

    • @CatGreatcircle

      @laurence9695 I think the house in Longwood and the Tombe are even officially French territory within the British island or did I get this wrong

    Napoleon was not moved to the ultimate house by his choice, but by the choice of his captor. The climate in his final holding villa was far worse and he hated it.
