Looks to me like the rear bunk turns thats why there is a hose running to the back. Handy for narrow, tight corners on european backroads when you need to haul long logs. But we use full trailers in canada, with self loaders like this one, and we dont use flat-nosed trucks. And by judging, these logs are abit longer than what we haul here.
Power poles, masts, piles, house beams, fencing, other applications where the architect or owner requires a long board length... Take a couple of minutes and I'm sure you'd be able to come up with a bunch more.
Wait ... so ... is the back section not actually physically coupled to the front by anything other than the logs themselves, and that flimsy looking bit of wire?!
We did have a Kenworth - very rare in Europe I know - ..and it did drop its guts out. That's why we operated Volvos and Scanias ever since. Pile of American stone age crap almost put us out of business.
How heavy could those logs be? Can't be that heavy ... I counted about 26 so lets say, for arguments sake, there are 30 of them at 1 tonne each...30 tones and that truck sounds like its about to drop its guts out ... Get a Western Star for that job, or a Kenworth and it will fly up that hill with those logs...

they are hydraulically controlled, you can hear the hiss of hydraulic jacks at the end of the video

That is the way log tractor trailers work. when the logs are delivered, the rear wheels are hooked to the tractor and then back to the woods.
