Man Johnny, i gotta tell you, listening to this while getting over my ex in Hawaii was insane dude. like in a good and bad way a few of your songs (a lot really) in your Bilmuri project made me cry and bask in my own pitty party so hard to the point where now i can only smile when i listen on repeat... Because funny enough, im back with her now, simply because i sent her this song at 1:30 in the morning and remembered the bond over music we had. Part of that bond started with Attack Attack! I know that this song has been out for nearly two years, but right now I need it. I'm a miserable mess right now that can't really gather his thoughts. For years, I had trouble getting over a girl I knew named Kristen. I wished every day to go back and correct what I did, even though she is not the best person.
After I got over her, I had to deal with a shit ton of death. What I did to deal with that death was hide behind fake feelings that generated because I was terrified of opening up about the death. One of these lying love interests was girl that used to be a good friend. I wrote her a letter that poured out my heart that I didn't have for her and even generated a story about a dream I had about her but I had only had it about Kristen.
The end of the dream of Maddie (second girl) and Kristen were very different. In the first one, I sat at the bottom of the steps of a church and cried so hard that I woke up physically crying. It is still one of the most devastating memories I have.
Kristen ended up being a back stabber, so it hurts a little less when I think about it.
Now, at the end of the generated dream, I actually was launched out of a bar by two really big dudes. Before I hit the ground, I woke up.
I'm so glad that I never shared the whole spoken word with her because it would make me feel shittier than I do now.
Now, I have written a 16 page letter, now whittled down to six pages typed, to a girl that I have known for about a year and a half. I'm terrified of the feelings I have for her because I haven't had feelings like these in eight years (I'm a senior in college. Also, that is around the time Kristen shut me out.). I have never been more scared and excited. I cannot give her the letter yet because it would overwhelm her. I'm actually on the sixth draft of it.
I may never give her the letter. It is a full disclosure and reveal of my heart. It is funny, sad, and joyful all at the same time. It is still the most difficult thing I have ever written. I actually admitted to making up feelings for girls. That is why I can't give it yet.
I really hope she gives me a chance. I hate that I'm head over heals right now and that I'm spiraling into insanity. This was spurred by a counselor at this school. On Friday, I was going to give the original letter straight up. My friend Sam had walked up and ruined our weird conversation about people I knew going on her mission trip. I'm relatively happy for that, too, because she would have seen the word love in the letter once and it referenced two other times.
She kept pointing to guys and calling them her and vice versa for girls. Any other person that would make that joke I would get enraged, stupidly, at. She breaks down into a part of me that is absolutely thrilling and terrifying to me. It hasn't been out in years, and I don't know what to do with it.
Thank you, Johnny, for writing such great music with your two projects. The music has really helped me grow as a person. Specifically this song and Down. Down was my anthem when I was into the drinking scene. It actually helped, among a slew of other things, get away from that life.
Even if you don't read this comment, I want you to know that I respect all that you write and will pray for you. I'm a Christian and was a huge fan of Attack! Attack! and also a huge fan of the reasoning for you leaving them. It's very admirable to leave something you had invested many years into to focus on something that is greater than us all. Even if you don't believe anymore, you still made me think about my faith when I first found that video. If you are still a believer, or at least a skeptic, keep searching. You'll find it, trust me.
