How To FaceTime on Your iPhone and iPad

- FaceTime is Apple’s video service. It allows you to stay connected to family and friends over Wi-Fi or cellular data. The best part about FaceTime is seeing the other individuals. You can have as many as 32 people on a call, although I think that’s a little crazy.

Is it possible for a FaceTime group call to access both my iPhone and iPad in order to have two different screen views? My daughter and son-in-law play Yahtzee with me weekly. I always borrow my housemate’s phone because I need one screen for the die and one for my face.
Hi Bonnie! What a great question! I don’t believe that’s possible because you’re signed into the same Apple ID on both. You could try adding the email address of the iPad and the phone number of the iPhone into the group call and then see if they both ring. I’m not sure it would work but worth a try.
How do I make a facetime call from my iPad to a contact on their iPad?
Hi Jill, Open the FaceTime app on your iPad. You might see some contacts listed there. If not tap on New FaceTime. If the contact is in your contacts list just tap the + sign in the To: field us the search bar to find them. Now tap on their phone # or email address it should be the one associated with their Apple ID. Now the call should connect.
Ios newbie. I'm using my BF's ipad air 4 non cellular and we tried to facetime on his iphone, both devices have his apple ID so is it really not gonna work? Ty
FaceTime over Wi-Fi works great! Not sure you can FaceTime to the same Apple ID. I’ve never done that and I’m thinking it may not be possible.

Can you be a little more specific? Are all of your contacts in this group message greyed out? Have you FaceTimed with this group before and it worked fine? Are you using FaceTime over cellular or WiFi?

When I go to settings FaceTime they give me my apple account under sign in and under it they give me new Apple ID that’s what they give me
@@englishwithalissa832 Are you signed into your Apple ID? If not you must be signed in to use FaceTime. Make sure you are on the main settings page to scroll down to the FaceTime App.

If you are calling your brother over WiFI there should be no charge!
Our Mom is deaf, doesn’t know sign language. Do you have a tutorial on texting on the FaceTime screen while we’re on with her? Is it possible in any language?
Hi Teresa, I'm not familiar with texting on FaceTime. The only suggestion I have would be to use one device to FaceTime and another to text. So if you were using FaceTime on the iPad and texting from your iPhone. Hope that helps.

Hi Muhammad! If you're trying to use FaceTime over cellular, make sure that Use Cellular Data is on for FaceTime. Go to Settings and tap Cellular or tap Mobile Data, then turn on FaceTime. If you're using an iPad, you might see Settings > Cellular Data. Go to Settings > FaceTime and make sure that FaceTime is on. With an iPad you must have Cellular service.
My friend has new email address. How do I get rid of her old one on my iPad?
Hi Marilyn, you should be able to get rid of it from the Contacts app. That’s where the old email should be stored and then you can add the new one. You could also just type in the email address when you’re ready to FaceTime by clicking on the + sign. If you need further help let me know.
The names in the facetime are not my friends, what should i do?
FaceTime uses the names that are in your Contacts app.
Can I facetime people just with an iCloud?
As long as you have an iOS device running iOS 15 you can FaceTime with Android, Windows and over the web.
How do I add people to my contacts
The people that show up in your FaceTime contacts list come from your Contacts app. You would add them there, and as long as they have FaceTime toggled on in their device they should show up in yours.

You made a video assuming that someone has a whole list of contacts to choose from. I have spent months trying to set up an iPad for my mom so that she can see people from the nursing home she lives in. I spent all that I could to try to get this iPad that I cannot set up. Nothing on this video tells me how to add a contact to actually set it up for her to access. Ridiculous that iPads are so stupidly difficult for every single step.
Sorry you’re having such a hard time using FaceTime Brenda and that the video didn’t help. FaceTime can be activated by using an email address or phone number, or your contacts lists. It’s just easier to access if you have some contacts set up. I’d love to help your Mother get her iPad set up it really isn’t that difficult. Let me know how I can help.
My Grandma was logged out of her Apple ID, had her iPad for years and couldn’t figure out why she couldn’t FaceTime...
That would probably do it!! Glad she or you figured it out!
But they don't pop up ... and it is not easy. If it were I wouldn't have any problemes.
