Dana is a fantastic actor but there was no acting here. This was a real situation he was going through, and I think most of the dialogue is how the diagnosis actually took place.

This episode made me sad as it showed what a great actor Dana Elcar was to face this with bravery. I hope he lived a good life. He was a good hero and a good villain, but I really liked him as Pete Thornton, Mac's best friend.

the episode is actually based in fact....Dana Elcar who played Pete Thornton did suffer from Glaucoma and he said in an interview that he stopped taking his medication for the treatment it, and he lost his eyesight due to the fact that he stopped taking his medication...
That's true that Dana Elcar had Glaucoma in real life. This episode was created to bring out the issue of how serious glaucoma really is. As Dana's eyesight diminished, he would have someone read the scripts to him, and that's how he would learn his lines. But it didn't keep him from being a good actor. He taught Richard a lot about the acting business. This was a good episode. Thanks for posting.
They wanted to fire him. But RDA threatened them with "then i go too". That's why his illness was integrated into the series.
MacGuyver was the best guy on TV. And this was the best Show.
These comments show us what a great programme this was, and the huge following the show had.
There are a lot of sad moments in this show. But this is the most heartbreaking. This show was fun to watch, but it was scenes like this that really made me respect the show a lot more. Pete was a stubborn and grouchy yet friendly and kind character, and those aspects were the ones that made me like the character a lot more, and it was quite sad to see him like this.
Dana Elcar were in the Macgyver season 6 blind faith and when the Dana Elcar has Glaucoma it was real show.
I love the guy. I’m watching MACGYVER as I type this. 😂🇨🇦❄️❄️❄️ I missed them first time ‘round.

Never has a series approached realistically the problem of one of the actors, a fantastic series that had touching episodes
I'll bet this was probably the hardest scene for Richard Dean Anderson to do with his old pal.
Recently, I took out the Macgyver DVD that was kept in the cabinet and watched it. Even after so many years, I still feel emotional.

Longsight when they used in The Script Blind Faith and MacGyver got really passionate or not setting that and he wanted to know what's wrong with eyes and his hands get burnt and he said that you'll be wise in the ass you really affecting the guy because he has real tears in his eyes in that in Blind Faith that one where they put it into the Script not really truly works about glaucoma and that's what Peter Thornton suffering with and that's why I've got it out there in the original MacGyver and passionate that was passion and dignity that's what Richard Dean Anderson had passion and dignity to cry on that cos it was emotional setting time for him and help his co-star out with that and it's truly dignified in the script and it's really fun idea to help people to know about glaucoma affect people's lives in different ways and that's what the episodes all about when you really affected him and I wanted to know what was wrong with Pete size in Blind Faith and the guy was giving directions to listen to MacGyver that he will be eyes and Pete will be my hands driving out of there and is called Blind Faith and that really works because glaucoma is post it really effective Richard Dean Anderson when I put it in his so dignified Richard Dean Anderson to put it out there about glaucoma how to fix people in different ways and it doesn't it's emotional setback for the people and he helped his co-star out and that's a lot of Pride and passion in the actor and that's what everybody would like to the original MacGyver because I put it in the script and that's fantastic because he got it out there so people know about glaucoma my mum's from glaucoma was Jackie know what my mum said what he meant and what he was trying to say to help Dana on Saturday had someone garden him around the set helping him to walk around the Sunday special person to help him that's what the original macgyver's all about healthy Fallout in the Time of Need and that's why you laughing for 7 years cos it helps everyone out in every different way possible and everyone can relate to the original MacGyver cos he helps his co-star out pride and passion for Richard Dean Anderson he helps his co-star and I was very passionate when you cry and that doesn't help you made me cry because my mum said from the glaucoma so I was actually know how it feels from Catherine Marie Susan and Carrington the original and fried onset and truly a hard decent and passion for a friend to cry on set like that
After one of the episodes Richard dean Anderson did a thing on glucoma I was touched that did that for Pete I miss shows like this

I agree with what everyone said, all the episodes were touching and funny, but like a lot of the viewers, I was almost in tears myself watching this. I agree that RDA is trying not to cry in the scene with Dana in the kitchen. I wanted to call out, "...go on, give the big man and hug, and we'll all start crying with you".

you know dana passed away sometime ago. he was such a great actor and i loved his sense of humor.
I think he died in 2006.
I did see that, I think that's why I want to buy all the series of Macgyver. Dana Elcar definitely is missed by fans all over the world.

Dana Elcar’s condition was also written into a storyline of Law and Order where he plays a blind man.
This was a very strong episode of mac finding out about Pete and his eye sickness

This is probably one of best episodes I’ve seen in the series. Because when MacGyver & Pete are in that storage facility MacGyver has had a lot of bad injuries but that had to be one of the worst ones by far.

I didn't know Dana had glaucoma in real life, I thought it was acting. Course I had watched season 7 and didn't see this, and I was younger. Now watching this, it shows and its really an touching and emotional scene; RDA is trying so hard to not cry.
they were great friends and a great team. i would imagine that,s how dana would want to be remembered. he was fun to watch and a great actor.

I have glucoma along with other problems, thank you for uplinking this for yes I have problems with either having to much light or not what I need, I also having a hard time communicate what I can 'see' in my mind.

its sad we've replaced quality show for toxic garbage these days. proof is an example of old school comedy where someone looked at "police squad" the series and analysed it on youtube, how they put so much effort to create a truck looking like a toe i.e toe truck, so much effort for very little payout joke/punchline vs two broke girls about a loser ukraine person shouting "i can get you to come" (wink wink) omg society has gone down the toilet
